I record bass lines for my own music, so I hope that what I say can help. I'll shorten it buy basically this 1. The bass is the most important part of a band or song, keeps the rhythm and groove. Work on playing in time and in a pocket with a drummer/drum track and practice that way so when you play with people you dont get lost or dont ruin a good jam session groove ya got going 2. Always practice scales and some bass techniques/practices. Walking a bass line, slapping/popping, pick/finger dynamics are all fantastic. 3. Have fun (i hate saying this but it's important) I hope some of this doesnt sound too basic or boring but its all what I'd consider the essentials

Switch I only lie when I love you and lights out and its about mine. wasnt a fan of lights out at all, but HLS is hype as hell

I will still never understand how he does the back and forth motion for the solo, I've tried so many times and it just doesnt work.

Look ugly, sound just like a les paul, costs at least 4-5x more than a les paul. No thank you, never ever. Janky PRS copy shape imo

what if I grab some of these and slap em on? think it could work... I'd probably have to cover them with something to get a smoother look to them of course but I'm not sure what or how.

That's probably super expensive and def a custom job that I don't have money for I did see it though and BOY IS THAT HYPE AS.

Yeah lowest string is a 59. Sounds amazing, but my fingers still arent used to what is basically acoustic string gauge anymore, and I picked up my guitar with 10s in standard and felt like I'd break the strings because of how hard i was playing these.

Only one we had close was D'addario - interesting story actually I'm using the lower part of a seven string set! the lowest string is .01 higher than normal but it feels great.

Thanks for the advice I'm def gonna go 13s then hopefully my roommate gets back before the local guitar shop closes EDIT: string it up with some .13s, plays great! video attached, please no bully

It IS gibson scale, 24.75 scale. 13s? Seems SUPER thick for that but I think I'll try it. the guitar is an LTD EX50, so I traded up and while it's not a super high end thing it feels great right now, cant wait to get strings on it.

NGD, sorta. Got this in a trade for my Orange Micro Terror that just doesn't see any play anymore its used and has scuffs but I still love it despite its pretty extreme shape. Gonna probably slap some 12s on it and play Sleep/Kyuss stuff

Same. Might grab a sustainiaced Red Glitter sometime. Also, I'm glad the High output pickups aren't actives, means I can easily switch it out with some better ones, maybe some other Bareknuckles like the Juggernauts since itll be my sludge/stoner guitar if I buy it. I was worried when I saw the typical black pickup covers

So more NAMM news, Chapman are doing a few new price ranged models. Ghost Fret mostly is the big new one since they're making one available in the $400-$500 price range. Anyone tried a chapman guitar before? I've only had a chance to try the ML-1 Traditional and it wasn't too bad. Just saw this too. Apparently it's limited so I gotta find a way to buy this soon. it sounds incredible. However that would bump my dirt pedals up to like 4 and I don't know if I NEED that many but I sure want it. I dream of the day where programmable loopers and pedal switching systems come down in price slightly, I still kick myself for not buying the PXL4 or 8 when they were on sale 2 years ago

That is a good question, I know the facebook page SAYS to head to NAMM to try these out but I have no idea if Manson is there or if it's on Corts booth or what.
