  1. The trussrod adjustment at the heel is a giveaway in the pic for sure, sorry if I was being disrespectful, it wasn't intentional. I'm just gear obsessed and miss the days of a single set of touring guitars to keep mental inventory of
  2. The holoflake guitars got upgraded to 510 bridges after delivery so it's not a dead giveaway to me. This was just based on what I saw and my gut instinct after seeing all the ones had had used for the previous hour at that show. It was noticeably different. Again, just my opinion and it may be all in my head. The number of photos of guitars with black bridges and silver knobs and all the Tim Stark posts of repairs tends to make me think the tech was pretty busy keeping the stable in order.
  3. I have paid for work that was a complete joke and I just didn't know any better at the time. After I made friends with one of the best vintage repair guys in my state and learned so much about the craft. I've gotten to see touring guitars and amps on the bench and it completely demystified it for me. I just can't ignore the personality in setup, for me the plek is just a fancy crown and level.
  4. I'm like 98% sure but this was early in the Drones 360 tour. Pretty sure the older ones got cycled out later on. This one had much more wear and the carves look different to me on the newer bodies. Again, it may have just been my imagination. .
  5. I think that Plek'd guitars are great but a good luthier can work with you on setup in a way that it helps your technique and playing for the same amount of money or less. That being said a bad setup and bad attitude from your tech is a complete waste of money.
  6. I was wrong about TIRO, he used it for Revolt in Dallas, of course they didn't play that song much on the tour. Also, used the holoflake non-hole guitar for dead inside for sure. I also spotted a 2nd law era matt black during madness. On a related topic this blog is amazing, I realize they are poached photos and stuff but being able to see them high resolution and date sorted is great. http://abelgaloismuse.blogspot.com.es/2015/12/photos-muse02-december-2015-american.html
  7. Congrats! Looks much cleaner than my blemished one from Musician's Friend. Mine has a good chunk of finish missing from the lower bout under the control cavity. There is a video somewhere on youtube with Tim Stark demonstrating how to use a cloth to remove a knob.
  8. I finally got my 510 bridge set where I liked it. My stealth MA holds the record for all the guitars I've owned in number of unique fasteners and it's a tune-o-matic setup I had my precision Philips driver, two standard allen keys, two metric allen keys and the little one that sets the HAP tuner height all out and in use.
  9. I would bet money that my MA has 6105 fretwire. I'm pretty familiar with 6150 and the are not wide enough to be that.
  10. very odd... I may open up it up and have a look around. Thanks for fixing the email!
  11. I have to post this email exchange: On 19 Sep 2016, at 13:46, eh_D wrote: Happy Monday! I have been thoroughly enjoying my stealth MA2 EVO. I did have one odd question. The Sustaniac switches appear to be a little loose, I noticed that one of them was a little cattywampus and upon further inspection both of them rotate kind of freely. I'm pretty competent on my setup and repair and before I pull the control plate off I was wondering if that was just how those switches are? The nut that holds the switch in place appears to be at least more than finger tight. If they are just like a normal boring double throw/double pole switches I don't know if there is another way to tighten them down. It's a tiny little thing to complain about, such a freaking awesome instrument and you guys totally exceeded my sky high expectations. Yes, when customers request the black toggle switches we use the normal switches you might find on coil taps etc, the chrome sustainer ones are much less liable to cattywampus-ness which is why I don't like to fit the black ones over the chrome ones, but many of our customers do want the as much black as possible look as favoured by some of our artists. I don't suggest opening things up if the lock nuts appear secure as you say. In practice they don't appear any less robust - the sustainer switches still operated on this one after the "smash event". https://www.mansonguitarworks.com/news/the-helen-foundation-manson-mb-guitar-auction-result-122 Glad you are enjoying the guitar. 12. As soon as both are in the same room I'll snap a pic. The paint feels the same and looks the same, but I know the Manson will wear faster and show damage easier. My cort is a b stock one with a huge chip missing on the lower bout and that finish is thick and almost plastic. That being said I'm not seeing the Manson as delicate as some have claimed it to be. Hey, I was wondering if anybody would want me to make them a set of sustainer labels? I'm making some tomorrow that are simpler with HI and LO and I and O more like the ones on the M1D1 but on black tape in once piece. I ordered these from the Steele guitar guy and realized that we had one of these label makers at work. I'll post pictures as soon as I get my black material.
  13. So, this is long and rambling, apologize in advance. First impressions after about an hour of play. Oh the smell... I'm glad I went with the kill button over the switch simply because the upper horn is much more compact on the MA shape. The "stealth" look is stunning and it still hasn't really settled in that it belongs to me. It was amazingly almost in tune right out of the case.I think I need to take a little out of the truss rod but when I put my gauge strings on there it might be almost perfect. I probably should have asked them to set it up with 10-52 as I think it has a normal 10 set on it now. Weight is in the low 8 pound range I'd guess, lighter than my MBC1. Neck carve is smaller than I would have guessed after the Cort but not thin like a shredder guitar (still has that slight v shape) . Fretboard radius is almost exactly like the MBC1 and the frets are on the smallish side of medium. The edge is perfectly rolled and smooth. I really can't imagine them doing it any better. A custom would allow you fancier wood or a different fret profile and/or carve but workmanship is impeccable. The Gotoh 510 hardware is all great. I have played a ton of compound radius guitars and the Manson way of doing that is very unique. Gibson necks are almost as flat but wider, even the wide-thin PRS carve is more rounded at the first five to seven frets. The width to me is very much like the PRS standard carve that I prefer. Plugged in, I have had a BKP nailbomb in my USA PRS CU24 since 2007 so the character of that pickup is familiar with the MBK-2. The overall tone is snappier than my PRS as expected with the maple neck and bolt on construction. Neck pickup is much fuller and warmer than the cort single coil, there is no strat like middle position, but tapping the bridge HB and rolling off the volume gets close. Glad I got the coil tap. Sustainiac Pro, I have a guitar with a FS101k and I've played with a FS410k before and the touch and feel is different. I was kind of surprised that the harmonic toggle was a three way, nobody here has mentioned that. I always thought the MB guitars were Hi/Low only. Single notes flow just like the Fernades but accidental notes are much easier to aviod as open strings need to be plucked before they start ringing. Fed Ex still hasn't sent me a bill, but they're not getting it back
  14. Playing single string scales with the Sustainac in mix mode of course! Where's your arrival?
  15. Didn't somebody else get a case marked for a DL-1? I'll be honest, I'm speechless. Can't wait to plug it in.
  16. Has anybody here learned this lesson? Don't ever buy one piece of gold hardware just because it's cheap. You'll be buying it all eventually. Just need the dunlop strap buttons and switch screws
  17. That's a relief! I read somewhere that going US to UK is super expensive and I couldn't find posts about going UK to US that I know I read before I placed the order. I did price a flight to see if I could collect it sooner
  18. I know I saw this in the old thread but how much should I expect to pay for on my import tax? Joe said that fed ex would contact me. is it like local sales tax plus a fee?
  19. Thanks for the follow! Spoke with Joe today to finalize payment. We're going to put it out on Monday so it doesn't set in a warehouse for days. I realize it's a very basic model but they treated me absolutely like I was getting a full custom. I can't give higher praise to Joe, Adrian and Tim. It's been since 2004 that I've wanted one and I'm a week away
