  1. The only reason I can think of as why they do that is scripted stage setup that has a set number of staples with prepped visuals/effects that they do not want to rotate. Then they also have a length (read: way too short) and then try to work around their selfimposed limits to keep some rotation slots. And it looks that the rotations in the US are just a bit worse than e.g. in Canada. At festivals they do not care as much of having a "show" experience including visuals/effects and play whatever they feel like which is probably less of the material they are gonna play every night on their own tour which directly leads to more rare songs during festivals.
  2. I think there are two issues. First is that the set is again like one sonmg shorter - like Detroit. That's pretty inexcusable. That just should not happen as there is no reason to give the US (or up to now two nights in the US) shorter sets than the rest. Second would be the songs played. It sucks that they dropped rarer/older songs again. Some colleague who also went to Montreal said the CE was such a great song even if he did not know it before. But even if they do not want to play these songs in the US for whatever almost twisted reason they should then fill that slot with another one. Shortening the list makes no sense to me at all. And I do not even put into that argument that the lists are rather short to begin with anyway. So removing a song just leaves me completely baffled.
  3. I agree that the concept falls a bit short but framing the main set with two times Drones makes sense to me. But then they should have kept it to Drones songs only in between. And then rock the crowd with 10-15 encores.
  4. So chose showbiz. Took a while to decide and honestly tomorrow I might have voted differently. I guess I decided for the older song of the ones I wanted to vote for and the lack of showbiz songs up to now on the tour reinforced that as well. Now let's see if the effort leads somewhere. Good call to do this as a community effort.
  5. It makes sense as a main set closer like they do it now. I think framing the main set with 2 * Drones fits. If all songs in between would fit the theme it would be better. Then make the crowd go wild during encores unrelated to the theme. Well I wouldn't care if the encores are like one third of the set then (i.e. 5 songs in 3+2 or 4+1 multiple encore setting). Then they can take the whole theme and put it on a DVD and pick and choose encores as add on if they wish to.
  6. Sooo just came back from today's gig. Setlist was great until revolt snatched reapers spot. My son was really unhappy about that. However getting lots of rotation including CE was great. I was surprised to see UD being rotated but that was great. Looking at the two nights in Montreal they really rotated quite a bit for people who would attend both shows. That is something for the multi night shows in Europe then to look forward to for those going there I guess. I was not in GA this time and was lucky to have a seat besides a girl from the US. Taking that trip to Canada meant she was a big fan as being up in the seats could often mean you have people.who come.for the show more than the music. Glad it wasn't so and we were both really happy for CE. Audience was probably the loudest during knights, uprising, tiro, hysteria, smbh. Seemed most quiet to me during revolt but that might be because I took time during revolt to watch the reaction. Loved the visuals and the drones but somehow I found the t2l pyramid slightly more impressive overall. The globalist was stunning though.
  7. I expect Resistance to be back at least once if not twice for the next three gigs. Unfortunately that is. I am not sure why quite a few are raving about how much the setlists got better now. Comparing Toronto to Quebec City 1 we have CE/Resistance or Map/PiB. Still nothing from Showbiz. Besides the reapers out experiment in the states, USoEA, Feeling Good the setlists are pretty similar and well getting to of the better rotation songs compared to getting two of the worst is still not that much of an improvement. I mean sure two better songs in comapred to two rather boring ones makes a difference but there is still so much more potential. As long as they keep the Madness/UD combo and they won't add any songs it will stay subpar. I am surprised that they keep that many resistance songs in there while T2L only has one (not counting IS obviously).
  8. Hey why not give it a try in Montreal next week as I am there the second night. But I am curious if they change all rotation spots between the two nights. I hope to get map this time around as they rotated that last time and I didn't get it on the second show. And I hope that the second night should go smoother technical side as well. If the tix would be a bit cheaper I would have gone to both nights. Travel wise we are lucky in Quebec this time with 4 gigs within 3 hours of travelling. I still hope for some surprises during the second part of the show. Not for the main set closers because of visuals and show logistics but they could rotate a bit more once they hit Munich jam.
  9. I really did not check TR or T2L tour setlists in detail but most annoying to me is that there is 0 rotation once you hit Munich Jam and Madness. Especially topping that off with having both FG and Resistance in there. I mean I don't dislike these songs but trading them for a possible Bliss/Sunburn/SS and in addition Reapers getting axed not only once... But yeah once you hit the Jam you know what's coming. Not fun.
  10. I like a bit of randomness. OK it is my fault for checking previous setlists in the first place but not 100% knowing the setlists in advance is - for me - part of the experience. Including the fist pump when they play something unexpected that is great.
  11. When it comes to the setlists we see I guess I am even more disappointed that from half way through the show there is no change at all i.e. once you reach Munich Jam you know what's gonna come. I understand that The Globalist with its visualization and then KoC as the final song to not change but that the MJ, Madness, UD, Revolt, TIRO, Uprising part never changed up to now is a bit - uhm - boring.
  12. I am not sure if you get a free copy of drones for each ticket for each show on this tour but I did so from that point I guess additional record sales will not be the reason to play more of drones.
  13. Thanks, I did not follow the band during that time as personal stuff got in the way of following much music in general since after Absolution. So I was not aware of the general fan opinion back then. I can understand that reaction though. I guess I can also relate to keeping that feeling resonating even after all these years when we have songs like UD and Madness in their repertoire as well. Maybe I should be glad that Madness got so popular that this put the band back into my focus.
  14. Was that because of the song in itself or the popularity/twilight effect and all the additional not so hardcore fans it brought and Muse being rather mainstream from that point onwards? For me it is still a great song to get the crowd going. Much better than Madness for that matter.
