Hello, it is me, not a member of the algorithm squad.
aren't the algorithm squad so cool and suave and handsome? Honestly if I could I'd marry the algorithm squad. btw here's the contact info for the algorithm squad, if you feel the same way about them:
-
I still like the song after listening a couple more times. eh idk, I understand the complaints but it's perfectly fine to my ears
-
In terms of songwriting, this song is the best of the singles.
Thought Contagion = Something Human
Dig Down
-
How would you all rank the singles we've gotten?
-
where has the theory about 8 acoustic tracks come from?
-
Maybe the benefit of lowered expectations, but I'm digging it. It's a solid pop song.
-
That was great
-
I doubt they'll take them off the album. Unless Matt had a stroke of inspiration and made a concept album where those don't make sense on it (although any concept album they'd do would fit perfectly with it because us vs them / resist)
-
QOTSA Millionaire non-screamy version?
That could be cool!
I have no idea what a Muse cover of this would look like, but might be cool
-
I actually interrelated it and talked about Muse and the new music. Whereas the debate about Drones vs Absolution is just completely irrelevant. But nice try
People were comparing older and newer muse stuff and talking about disappointment in new stuff or how Drones gets shit on too much and there's too much pessimism surrounding Muse's new stuff. You basically did the same thing as the first group except compared hype levels for two different albums by different artists. Let's let both comparisons go unmolested.
-
There's also such a thing as over saturation. Look at Rihanna, she was obviously worn out after constantly touring and releasing music. She left, came back a few years later, and there was a lot more hype surrounding her album then there would have been if she had not taken a break.
-
I think the new album will turn out to be at least a 7.
On the topic of being more excited for other band's albums, that happened to me last year. I got sucked into the five album releases from KGATLW, never been more hyped tbh.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't be angry or annoyed at people who think their new stuff is on par with their old. Good for them
-
It's an average song aside from the fact that it was the first rap song by a female artist to hit number 1 since like the 90s, iirc. Pitchfork is quickly becoming the next Rolling Stone.
Honestly, I think Pitchfork is very preoccupied with being perceived as tastemakers. I get the impression that plays into their ratings of music more than the actual music at times.
-
Trap was cool?
Bodak Yellow was Pitchfork's song of the year last year, so I guess according to some yeah

From the latest interview:
-
- Chris is essentially the one tasked with compiling all the old demos and recordings from the band's very early years (for the Origin of Muse boxset) because Matt and Dom basically don't remember anything about the formation and early days of Muse lol
Chris once again confirmed best member of the band

I basically know most reviewers dislike or are ambivalent towards Muse, but if it's a reviewer I like / respect I'm always interested in why they think what they think, especially about an album I'm familiar with.
-
I am incredibly late, but the only album from Kendrick I could see being called generic is DAMN. If you can listen through good kid and to pimp a butterfly and think what he accomplished with the overall stories presented there is generic, I uh don't trust your rap taste. For individual songs, Sing About Me, Mortal Man, etc. are example enough
-
I wonder if Muse do genre hopping because they don't know what to do (out of ideas) unless they say "I want to make a song like X", or because they've become bored with their sound.
-
I just have this feeling their new album will be a big one and will somehow top the previous one.
Sure, it could be great. For gamechanging tho I picture a lot of experimentation or pushing a sound forward. AM haven't really done that
-
The Arctic Monkeys have fused hip hop elements with their own music and it’s worked well.
Turner and Co are leagues above Muse at present and I think their new album will be gamechanging whereas I’m not so optimistic for Muse
Agree new AM album has a good chance to be better than a new Muse album, disagree with AM being gamechanging. I don't think they are at all, or really have much of a potential to be even though I like their music.
-
Why is everyone still arguing about this one shitty line in Thought Contagion? Fucking hell.
-
I feel so lost. Thought Contagion is not amazing, but not everything Muse does will be. It's not this horrific monstrosity a lot of the board seem to be saying it is. It's a solid 3/5, maybe more for me.
-
I get wanting more crowd interaction, but sometimes stuff like Homme's 15 minute drunken monologues to the pregnant woman in the first row gets old.
King Gizzard were like the opposite of this. They just came out and played, going from one song to the other in the blink of an eye.

It is time for me to get excited about Muse albums again, listen to it five times at once when it drops, then probably not listen to it much again. Let's goooo!
I do like the two songs tho. The sound of Compliance seems to do Simulation Theory type things better than Simulation Theory
