  1. Oh my bad! I thought it may have been a bit strange to hear a new song... Thanks for pointing it out though found the original now
  2. Muse - A New Kind Of Kick Here we have it! Did BellDom just reach a new high? A hugely entertaining and a good meme for Halloween, and has that great fun filled kinda dumb vibe to the whole thing which is excellent 'Life is short, filled with stuff' may just be the high point of Matt's lyricism, however
  3. The one that hit me this time round was hearing Uprising, and just thinking '... but where's matts guitar though?' And then of course morgan saved the day and matt had to crack it out for the solo. I agree though, it would feel rather strange, especially given how heavy this one is sounding from that clip
  4. Now that you mention it, those original pictures did have me thinking a bit as it's not common that we see matt without his guitar nowadays And another fair point... I take it all back
  5. This was my first thought upon hearing it but given the bloody nose, the crotch grab and the screaming I think it's safe to put that thought to one side
  6. (Repost bc old msg glitched for me) This may seem like quite a basic one, but I am working on a cover of the Live at Rome version of Plug In Baby currently, and I nearly have the fuzz factory tone nailed, but I was wondering if anyone has cracked the exact settings that matt uses? Whilst we're on it, also, does anyone know what Matt's drive and stab controls are set to? If I'm not mistaken, they are internal, and cannot be altered with the integrated FF. Thanks
  7. Does anyone know what reverb Matt is using for the outro of Resistance for Live In Rome?
  8. Hans-Peter Van Velthoven (Photographer for Muse), tweeted this earlier today. Given that there have been claims that matt told a fan that there would be a live tour DVD for the Drones World Tour, this is all adding up. Looks like this ones going to be from Milan, but it is unclear whether they will be using different parts from the various Milan shows over the next few nights. (I would assume there will be a bit of mixing and matching as is standard for this sort of thing). Very excited for this though!! Source:
  9. Just been watching a live performance of Assassin last year, and was wondering about a couple of effects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNWTiMeVM8g In this video, at 0:48, what effect is running here? I can only assume its the Phase 90 but I'm not 100% sure... And just generally in the chorus', does anyone have any tips on how to get a similar tone to that? I was thining maybe some distortion with an EQ boosting lower bands? Its just a lovely tone and would really like to know how its done hahah. Thanks guys
  10. Only spent a couple of minutes trying to figure this one out but its sounding pretty close I think. I'm very tired so please forgive me if there are any errors but I think this does the trick? Some of it is a bit inaudible given the mixing and all that but... y'know e|---------------------------5+-5+-7+----------7+---------------| B|---------------------0-0---------------------------7+-----------| G|----------------------------------------5+~----------7+~------| D|------------------------------------------------------------------| A|------------3+~-------------------------------------------------| E|-3-0-0-0--------------------------------------------------------| e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|-------------------------------------15------14-----14-----------14-----------------------| G|-2(dive with trem bar)-/12--17b19------14-----14-----------14------------------| D|----------------------------------------------------------------14----------14--------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------16b17----| E|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| e|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|-----------------------------------------------------------7-------7-------7------| G|-----------------------------------------------------------9b11--9b11--9b11-| D|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|---16b17-16-14-16-14--14-14-14-14-14-14----------------------------| E|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
  11. Ahh I see. I think a combination of these is working nicely for me! I think my issue before was that I was using harmonics on the 5th fret but letting off the +1 way too fast and so it just sounded pretty poor. Harmonics on the 5th on DAD and leaning off the pedal a bit slower are sounding much better! Thanks guys
  12. Hi All, So I currently am the holder of the highest rated version of reapers on ultimate guitar, and I am really happy with how good I've got it sounding. The one part that I really just can't get, is in the solo, after Matt has done his muted scratching with the slow increase on the whammy, he makes that cool 'wow' sound. From watching videos, it looks like it is created around the 5th fret, and with multiple strings, and judging by the lack of movement in matts hand along with the nature of the sound, it is pretty likely it is created with the whammy. I was wondering, is the fret barred at all? Are they natural harmonics? Is it the whammy that makes the sound? Basically, just how does one create a sound that is similar to that one? Thanks
  13. haha yeah I think that pick thing might be right, I hold mine like that. I think you may be right about the pedal too, its probably just him leaning off after a couple of hammers and pulls before the rest of the trill. Thanks
  14. New question: In the invincible solo live at Wembley (Around 4:37) I was wondering, is Matt using 2 fingers to tap on his right hand? It sounds like there is more to it than just tapping with the whammy then leaning off for the trilling to me, and it definitely looks like it. It doesn't seem to be present with every set of taps/trills but it just seems to sound different than the way that I have learnt it. Thanks.
  15. Wowza. Went all the way from Leeds to get to the Birmingham gig and got in the queue at 1:30, numbers 59 through 62 in the queue for my friends and I. How fucking incredible was that?! We managed to get the circle barrier, and just everything was perfect. The setlist, the visuals, the interactions. I'm still not even nearly over it! Bring on round 2 in Manchester next week!!
  16. Well with the OS-2 as my only boss pedal, I cant say that that statement is wholly false, but I think its unfair to say that theyre all crap apart from delay. For the price, you really cant do much better.
  17. I recently bought the boss os-2 and personally am loving it. It can achieve a wide range of sounds from full blown distortion to more blues style overdrives. Tones that sound great on all pickup selections are available, and its a very affordable pedal too.
  18. Just thought I'd contribute a good sound I've managed to find for SMBH Live. To achieve the tight fuzz kind of sound, I'm using a Fuzz Factory, set at 2:30, 2:45, 5:00, 10:00, run through a distortion pedal at full drive, and tone at about 1:00. This of course is open to alterations based on your pickups/amp etc.
  19. Yeah around 7:13 I can hear it a bit. It is quite low in the mix, and if possible bass boosting on the video may be required. That was my other thought, it is very possible that it may be Morgan that's making the sound.
  20. Not entirely sure we're hearing the same sound here. It plays underneath Matt. Almost sounds like a synth or something but my best bet would probably be some fuzz on the bass. Thanks though
  21. Starting this thread for tabs or tips on how to achieve some of the live sounds that the band achieve, or live versions of any songs that people want to learn. Gonna start this one off by asking about a sound that is repeated once Matt has tuned his guitar down an octave on his D string on Stockholm live at Wembley on HAARP. There is a sound that I can only assume is produced by Chris that repeats a few times until the end, and it sounds like a 'yeoww' sound with a decreasing pitch, and is very grainy. I love this sound and was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how it is produced (effects, techniques, etc). Thanks, and lets hope this thread is helpful to many!
