  1. If it's like the Fernandes sustainer, the left-most toggle (when playing the guitar) has a middle position that acts as the mix setting.
  2. It's not that I wasn't happy. I saw it more as a natural progression to what was still to come. Our overlords are very pleased, we will be roasting a hog this night in this threads honour.
  3. It's called Earth to Calm by one of my favourite artists Scott Matthews. A big follower of Guild guitars. Oh my what a way to kick off a Sunday thanks. That riff sounds very Sleep. But with even MORE filth, love it. http://youtu.be/BSpRBjqXWOU Eek, sorry. It's good for you in the long run
  4. Really nice, it's pretty versatile. Doesn't sound corny like most of the reverbs I hear. For what it's worth (microphone isn't great) here's an example of it.
  5. Well sir having purchased an AC30C2 recently I can not recommend it highly enough. Its master volume makes it good to get a nice dirty tone at low volumes. But its a strictly 12 noon-7pm kinda amp in a bedroom environment The tone is absolutely beautiful, and I'm yet to properly crank it outside the house other than when I was testing it from the seller. One thing is for sure though, if you ever need to it could blow the roof off most small venues. I'm very very glad I bought it, even in a bedroom setting for now.
  6. Ah okay that all makes sense. I'm looking at a pair of Rode M5 cardioid condensers at the minute. Seem to be a decent entry level option, don't seem to be capable of figure-8 but maybe mid-side should be left for when I've a bit more experience (and cash) to do it properly. What would you recommend for a decent audio interface? Probably won't need more than 2/3 inputs at the minute, obviously with phantom power. A decent headphone monitor would be good too actually. I'm really clueless when it comes to this though
  7. Haha no I think I understand. Do you mean the process of duplicating the ribbon track and putting it out of phase? Is that what "mid-side" is referring to? So you're suggesting two matched microphones with one switched to polar to act as the ribbon mic? That makes sense to me. Who knows, I may be better off going for two matched condensers in a spaced pattern as jaicen suggested. Lots to look into.
  8. I have a rather nice Martin acoustic, but I've no idea about the acoustic qualities of my room haha! That's interesting though. Audio engineering is something I've never looked into and the different techniques are pretty vast. I imagine though like any other musical-tech area, it gets to the "these cables sound better than those ones" stage! Thanks for the advice
  9. Haha!! My rule of thumb is that if it's x amount of miles I can get there in less than x amount of minutes To be honest James, everything should be Irn Bru orange. Ah okay, I assumed ribbon and figure of 8 meant essentially the same thing. That's great though thanks. When you say match the microphones, would that not be an XY pattern? The chap I saw explaining mid-side was that one microphone was capturing directly from the source while the ribbon was picking up everything either side of it.
  10. Well James that's just the thing, the food has never been the problem. There's something attached to the act of going to nandos in modern British culture, more often than not it is something that makes you feel a little bit dirty. In Edinburgh the place is crawling with reembots, gymLADS and ballers, none of which I know what they are or how to communicate with them. I have found somewhat of a haven in the Dundee Nandos, hence my comfort in now visiting it. I could go into more detail james but I wouldn't want to taint your next experience of the deggers. You'd spend half your time away from your dombow looking over your shoulder. And 100%. If it's made in Scotland then it has the biggest claim to a bru stencil there is, more than mine certainly. It must immediately be renamed the Barr Guitarr and slapped with the Bru logo. The drivers here are mad, I guess we're all used to being within an hour of the next city so we always leave it too late to actually get there. Damn I want to road trip round the states. If anything just so I can say I road tripped round the states like a true frat boi. To stay slightly on topic, I'm looking into possible routes to mic up my acoustic so I can stop recording stuff on my iPhone 5. Damn ribbon mics are expensive. I want to try a mid-side layout for stereo so I'll need a ribbon figure-8 and a cardioid condenser from what I understand. I'll also need a decent entry level audio interface. It may be time to sell some junk at casa macaroon. Any tips from the resident K&T sound engineers would be lovely. /bs post
  11. Or maybe stencilling the logo onto the body? Like the drone guitars. This is quite a revelation. I'm going to need to investigate. Rumours of a celebratory Nandeggers after my exam on Friday.
  12. If nandos did irn bru they'd be crossing over into a world I doubt they want to be a part of. But yes, I would go more often. Those dates are interesting. I'm in Amsterdam the week previous with a few friends, so it's possible that I may be low on funding. I'll do my best.
  13. For the benefit of what I hope is most of the people on this board; Tom Morello is currently giving away his new EP for free for May Day only. There's a link on his Instagram page (and probably others.) Do yourselves a favour.
  14. It's pretty amazing how much goes out the window when something changes with the feel of your guitar. I switched up the gauges of my acoustic strings recently and found that I could play the square root of fuck all on them.
