  1. I was one of those who didn't like it at first and eventually changed my mind. It didn't take long either. My first time listening to it, I hated it at first but was undecided by the end of the song. After two or three more listens, I love it. I get why some people hate it, because it's so different and almost doesn't sound like Muse, but it's so catchy and uplifting that I can't help but like it.
  2. Starlight and Madness are my 2 favorite Muse songs. I also love Explorers and Guiding Light, and Fillip is a guilty pleasure. You shouldn't even need to defend those. They're amazing, and both in my Top 10 as well.
  3. I freaking love this song. It was easily my favorite new song the first time I listened to it. After multiple listens, I now appreciate Reapers and The Handler more, so I don't know if I have just one favorite now, but Defector is just so fun and upbeat and fist-pumpingly triumphant. Yeah it's very Queen, but I love me some Queen and I love me some Defector. Can't wait to hear it played live!
  4. 1. Starlight 2. Madness 3. Citizen Erased 4. Plug In Baby 5-10 in no particular order: Bliss Unnatural Selection Dead Star Map of the Problematique Knights of Cydonia (w/ harmonica intro) Hysteria Dead Inside, Reapers, The Handler, and Defector could all make the list at some point, but it's a little too early to tell.
  5. 'Sup guys. I haven't posted on here in a while (though I've been lurking a bit lately), but I just finished listening to Drones and thought I'd chime in on the discussion. Overall, I like the album a lot. The first half (through Defector) is freaking amazing. The second half is... interesting. It's really different, and might take some getting used to. Aftermath is beautiful. The Globalist is solid, but IMO it's more "Eurasia Extended Edition" than "Citizen Erased Pt 2." I'm still torn on Revolt. I almost don't like it because it's so not what I expect from Muse, but it's also kinda fun and catchy. I feel like if I heard it on the radio and didn't know it was Muse, I'd probably really enjoy it but I'd never guess that it was them. I'm not really crazy about Drones TBH. The vocal harmonies sound good and it's an interesting idea, but I dunno... Maybe it'll grow on me, but it's just not my cup of tea. Great album overall though. I'll have to listen to it a few more times, but right now I'd say it's pretty close with The Resistance as my 3rd or 4th favorite Muse album (behind Absolution and OoS). Ratings: Dead Inside - 8/10 Drill Sgt./Psycho - 7.5/10 Mercy - 6.5/10 Reapers - 9/10 The Handler - 10/10 JFK/Defector - 9/10 Revolt - somewhere between 4/10 and 7/10, haven't decided yet Aftermath - 7.5/10 The Globalist - 7/10 Drones - 5/10
  6. I know. Occasionally you can get decent quality if you use a good program to rip the audio from a video that was uploaded in HD, but it's still never CD quality, which is why I'm excited for this release.
  7. Yeah but I'm not talking about watching a proshot, I'm talking about being able to have the song on my iPhone and listen to it in the car. I know I could download a video off Youtube and rip the audio, but I'm one of those people who likes having official versions of stuff (because of quality, not piracy laws). On a side note: When you live in the desert and drive through the mountains like I do, Knights of Cydonia is just about the most epic thing you can possibly listen to while driving.
  8. Am I the only one who's excited for the CD/DVD release primarily because it'll be the first time they've released an official recording of Knights of Cydonia WITH the Man with a Harmonica intro? It was in the film, so I reeeally hope it's included on the CD.
  9. I had the exact same experience! I just got back from seeing it, and when I first walked into the theater and saw the size of the screen, I thought "that's it?" Then Supremacy started and I was thinking "this sounds good, but it could definitely be louder." I think some people must have complained about it during the film, because about a minute into Uprising they suddenly cranked the volume way up. It would've been nice to have it that loud the whole time, but at least they ended it on a high note. Overall though, it was still a great experience, and I will definitely be buying myself the Bluray/CD combo as an early Christmas present.
  10. But choruses don't just repeat one phrase over and over. And like I said, it doesn't bother me as much now as it did when I first heard it. No point in trying to argue with past me. (unless you have a time machine...)
  11. Explorers may be a bit slow, but I feel like Matt puts a lot more energy into the vocals than he does on Hoodoo, Blackout or RBS. To be fair, Take a Bow is growing on me a little more. I just didn't like it when I first heard it because the "burn in hell, burn in hell, burn in hell, burn in hell" got repetitive really fast.
  12. I seem to have a lot of controversial Muse tastes compared to others on these boards. To name a few: - Starlight is my favorite song - Explorers is great - Fillip is really good - Guiding Light isn't the best, but it gets more hate than it deserves - The Resistance is a good album - Take a Bow, Hoodoo, Blackout and Ruled by Secrecy all bore me But I love Citizen Erased and Dead Star, so I'm still one of you guys right?
  13. Starlight is my favorite Muse song, so obviously I loved hearing it as the encore. As for Explorers, I absolutely love that song, but I was slightly disappointed hearing it live. It just seemed to suck all the energy out of the arena minutes after we had all been headbanging to Knights of Cydonia. It's still a great song to listen to on the album, but I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed to see them cut it from future tours.
  14. I think he's crying because you didn't put Guiding Light last on your list like everybody else . I actually don't think it's THAT bad of a song though. It's still my least favorite on The Resistance, but it's not terrible.
  15. To each his own, don't let these guys tear you down over it. I didn't really like Exogenesis either when I first heard it, not because it was bad, but just because it was a bit jarring to hear classical music on a rock album. Now that I've listened to it more though it's kinda grown on me. Still not my favorite, but I enjoy listening to it once in a while. You just have to be in the mood for something different.
