  1. Ah, I see. Still, my favorite silly Muse lyrics are still probably the lyrics to .
  2. Never before has a truer statement been made. Especially applies to my own lyrics I write for my band Dark Matter. I might be the only person to have ever rhymed "paranoia" with "employer" and then with "sequoia."
  3. Oh crap! I was working on a bootleg of my own! Well, guess all my work has gone to waste. Nice video nonetheless.
  4. Huh, really? Funny, I could have sworn it was only once. It's weird, too, because I distinctly remember different versions where Matt was playing piano and other versions where he was on guitar. Agreed that it would be more enjoyable than Feeling Good, though. That song has basically become tired at this point.
  5. You remind me of the babe! Fun fact: the word "babe" appears seven times in Drones. Yeah, what was the deal with that? No wonder he's only played that song live once. Do you mean the album Drones or the song Drones? Agreed. I mean, I get what he was saying in that part with the colors, but the delivery is still silly. ...Wow. I now have a newfound respect for Matt. Again, I think that stemmed from a misprint in the original lyric sheet for Absolution. Silly lyric in an otherwise great song.
  6. Wait, really? He does that? Gosh, well, maybe it is just a problem with him not being able to hit the notes. I know he's had to switch to falsetto for some songs now, or have Chris sing them.
  7. Now that you mention it, that is pretty silly. Wonder if Muse realized that after they wrote it, and that's why it's never been played live,
  8. Now that you mention it, I just thought of another great one from the same album: "Now that you know I'm trapped / Since ovulation" ~from Time Is Running Out I've heard people say different thing about this line. I know that the lyric sheet actually says "sense of elation," but the original version released said "since ovulation." Not sure if that was a misprint or a last minute change. Understandable.
  9. Showbiz: Fillip Origin of Symmetry: Feeling Good Absolution: Endlessly (It was tough to decide since I love all the songs on that album--it's my favorite Muse release) Black Holes and Revelations: Starlight (again, by default--I love all the songs here) The Resistance: I Belong to You The 2nd Law: Follow Me Drones: Revolt HAARP: NONE OF THEM, EVERY SONG IS PERFECT.
  10. Interesting! I figured that's what Matt meant by the phrase, but I didn't know that it was a legit expression in the UK. Thanks for the info! You're the second person who has brought that up. Maybe it's just because I was rocking out so hard during that song that I missed that line. Now that you mention it, I think that there were probably better rhymes for that part.
  11. Yeah, though to be fair, I think that goes along well with the cheesy nature of the Olympics hype. Wow, I didn't think that I'd actually see someone disliking Fury! I figured most fans like that song. But yeah, I agree on both of those. The Supremacy one was on my list too.
  12. The weirdest part about those lyrics is that, while not necessarily the worst lyrics, the tempo/style change from the verses/solo to the chorus is particularly jarring. Someone once said it sounded like the theme song to a Disney teen show.
  13. Now don't get me wrong. Matt Bellamy is an amazing songwriter, singer, guitarist and pianist. His lyrics, though, are hit and miss. There are some really great ones, of course, but then there are other that just come off as incredibly silly, whether they're stretch rhymes, confused metaphors, or otherwise. And we're here to talk about them today, so feel free to post your best worst Muse lyrics! Here are some of my favorites. "I have played in every toilet / but you still want to spoil it" ~from Muscle Museum, Muscle Museum EP (1998) "You do it to me sweetly, to my yeah-yeah" ~from Agitated, Uno single (1999) "It’s happening soon / It’s happening soon / It’s scent has been blowing in my direct-shoon" ~from Fillip, Showbiz (1999) "Stretch it like a birth squeeze" ~from New Born, Origin of Symmetry (2001) "Brainwashing our children to be mean" ~from Supremacy, The 2nd Law (2012) "Your aaaaaaaaassssss belongs to me now" ~from Psycho, Drones (2015)
  14. My review of the Drones World Tour (or at least of the show I went to). Be warned, it probably contains too much positivity for this site, though I do give some pretty valid criticisms, as well as a request (please return to Charlottesville).

  16. Hey all, Just so you know, I will be making a multicam bootleg of Citizen Erased from this show (using others' YouTube videos). If you're interested and have any footage you think could be usable, let me know.
  17. How HQ is the audio from the show? I'm working on a video bootleg of Citizen Erased and am tempted to download but don't want to register. Plus, I don't have a torrent converter.
  18. This is true. There were a few problems I had with this setlist, and choices that didn't make sense to me. For example, I don't know what Isolated System was doing in there, apart from giving Dom a chance to show off his electric drum skills. It makes sense that they'd include Madness, though; apart from Uprising, it's the band's biggest hit in the States. Prelude into Starlight didn't make much sense, and I'm still not a fan of Matt not playing guitar on that song. Reapers being followed by Time Is Running Out also didn't make much sense, as one is really loud and heavy and the next is poppy. And then following that with Uprising was a little confusing. I don't know how to feel about guitarless Uprising, either. Also wasn't a fan of Drones being played twice, but everyone's talked about that. But for me, the biggest problem with the show was the damn crowd. As soon as Matt started Psycho, nearly everybody whipped out their cellphones. Apart from ten or so in one small corner of the arena, nobody was really getting into the music. It got better as the show went on, though. I, for one, headbanged so hard that my neck still hurts today, and I think other people in my area must have seen me and been ashamed, because most of the people in my area put away their phones. In terms of the setlist alone, though, I think this was probably the best Muse show I've ever seen. It was pretty much over once they played Citizen Erased. They could have played anything after that--they could have even played Justin Bieber--and I wouldn't have minded because Citizen Erased. And hey, at least it tops the last Muse show I saw because in this one, Matt Bellamy didn't forget the words!
  19. Highlights: Reapers, The Globalist, Apocalypse Please, Map of the Problematique, Citizen Erased Low points: Starlight, guitarless Uprising, Drones twice Really, when they played Citizen Erased, the show was pretty much over for me. They could have played anything else in the setlist and I still would have loved it. They could have played Justin Bieber and I still would have loved it. Also, the stage setup and visual aspect (drones, balloon-plane, black balloons) were great. I think Muse does in-the-round shows really well. Didn't see much of the opening band, X Ambassadors, but they seemed alright. Will post a full review soon.
  20. OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS! I JUST GOT BACK FROM D.C. IN THE VERIZON CENTER! IT WAS THE BEST MUSE SHOW I EVER ATTEND-- Oh. You're still negative here. Well then, guess I should spend the entire rest of this comment hating the show. ...I just... I just don't know if I can! I mean, yeah, there was guitarless Starlight and Uprising, and they played Drones twice... but... but Apocalypse Please! Map of the Problematique! Citizen frikkin' Erased! WHAT THE HELL IS WITH MUSE?!
  21. Soooo... am I the only one who had hoped that the band would play the entire Drones album every gig? I mean, they said that this tour would be like Pink Floyd's The Wall Tour, where PF played the entire album every show (they did the same thing with The Dark Side of the Moon in the touring for that album). I thought that would be cool, just playing the entire album and then filling the second half of the show with other songs, like how they did that with Origin of Symmetry at Reading in 2011. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case. "Defector" has only been played once, and "Aftermath" is joining the ranks of "Cross-Pollination" and "Big Freeze" as songs that have never been and probably will never be played in a live setting. All I can say now is that I hope I don't regret buying tickets for this show.
  22. D.C.--that's me! Suddenly I'm scared! Muse, I want to like you, I really do, and I even defended your newest album when not many would, but you're making it awful hard for me. This is saddening. In Muse's attempts to emulate The Wall Tour, they forgot that The Wall Tour didn't make back its budget and led to Pink Floyd splitting up.
  23. Who wants to place bets on which songs Matt is going to stop playing guitar on next? My money is on Resistance. He's already stopped playing the opening guitar, and the guitar isn't really that loud on it anyway.
  24. I got five seats for myself, my dad, and three friends. Two of the friends are getting married, so this is my wedding gift for them. Though I just hope it's good. Judging by the reception on the newest shows, it's kind of a crapshoot.
