And I like Revolt... granted I like it now. When I first heard it I hated it.
I find Revolt becomes enjoyable when you stop taking it so seriously and just listen to it as a silly, over the top pop rock tune. Hell it's almost kind of a release after listening to 8 straight songs of intense subject matter.
Then again I'm also surprised Psycho, Resistance and Citizen Erased were allowed given that's also on a political bent. Though obviously Defector, Uprising and Revolt are substantially more direct than those numbers I suppose.Which reminds me. Iron Maiden will be playing their first shows in China next year and I'm curious to see what will be allowed. I know for a fact that 2 Minutes to Midnight probably won't be allowed as it's the only overtly political song they're likely to play nowadays. I think all the songs from the new album are safe... except for Death or Glory but I'm probably over-estimating.
I swear someone also said around then that people were booing TiRO on the Absolution arena tour, which sounds pretty weird.Blasphemy!!!!
-
Maybe it was more to do with stuff like "How can we win when fools can be kings?" or "You and I must fight for our rights"? I dunno, I'm not really totally clued up on exactly what is and isn't allowed.
Completely off-topic but I saw an interview last night and was kinda surprised when Matt said Invincible was his favourite song from Black Holes. Why drop it after one tour then yer bloody tit (play it pls, for me). Granted, the interview was just after Black Holes came out but still.
My point is that theyre just generic lyrics that aren't directed at anyone in particular.
Lyrics like "Rise up and take the power back/it's time the fat cats had a heart attack" are more likely to do it; hell they even mention "fat cats" right in there.
-
although I'm still pretty surprised Knights of Cydonia was permitted.
To be fair, the lyrics to KOC don't seem to be an attack on anyone in particular and soubd like generic "we must fight for our lives" lyrics.
Uprising and Revolt are illustrated political attack songs.
-
Maybe they are trained security people, who knows.
The idea of them transforming the arena into some sort of Muse world is pretty cool.
-
Yup, same thing with Dublin getting a regular stage for it's gig.
I kind of hate to keep bringing up Maiden as a comparison point because they're a different kind of band and have a different type of live show altogether but some of their shows had to sacrifice the pyro or their "large Eddies" and just use walk-on Eddies for that very reason (one instance required a backrop with the eddie printed on it).
Back on topic, the Saitama T2L shows did have something to makr up for it; they had a video board behind them with the same projections. The effect was kinda lost though as they work best with the video circle.
-
Matt told a fan the real drone balloons would start in Houston.
Let's hope that they can throw some CO2 cannons or pyro in there. Right now some songs could really use them. Like in The Globalist, when the heavy part really takes off, it could kinda use something like a pyro blast right after "Fire!". In its current form it's kinda dull.

The three loud chicks screaming right before the solo are identical... and even though the faker cuts his video soon after, you can see Matt clips the corner of the curtain making a left turn behind it, whereas he doesn't in the real one.
Fuck me, the video is fake. What the fuck is wrong with people...?
I sincerely apologize, Muse. Even though you're not reading this. (... and your sets could be longer... *cough*)
Oh..
My...
God.
I love how people actually spent pages pondering fakery only for it all to become a red herring. :
-
It is just madness
To be fair this isn't the first accusation towards Matt of fakery I've heard.
I remember after the T2L show here someone commented on a radio station's post here that they thought Matt was lip synching Supremacy.

Iron Maiden would disagree. Is the need for him to move around because of the stage show that much of a problem, I wonder? It's the old pop star argument of "well, the DANCING is amazing! You can't do that and SING."Considering Bruce runs around while singing and Janick Gers jumps and hops around and spins his guitar all over the place.
The former being in his late fifties and the latter being in his early sixties. So that's certainly no excuse.

Muse are performing in Copenhagen on the Drones 360 Tour. Fan pre-sale is at 10am on September 24th, while general sale is at 9am on September 28th. Detail here: http://muse.mu/tour-dates,forum-copenhagen-denmark_1967.htm
Thread is for attendees.
Looks like me so far
-
Feeling Good is gonna replace The Globalist.
You heard it here first.
-
Welp I was going to do Mexico this year but... stuff happened (not major stuff like family dying, just... ya know). So I decided to do Copenhagen instead.
I'm definitely excited for the superficial novelty of "It's Muse" but I'm not so sure I'm down with this tour as a whole so far.
I'm definitely excited to hear the new stuff and I think the stage set is among the best they've done; I'm typically not a fan of in the round shows but this looks cool based on the videos I've seen. But...by god. The band are lazier than ever.
I was not a fan of Matt dropping guitar for Starlight, resulting in a very castrated Starlight but they dropped the guitar in Uprising... just sad. A usually stompin' song sounds dull here.
Yeah it's time for a setlist shakeup. When Iron Maiden of all bands sound as if their upcoming tour is going to be far more adventurous setlist-wise than Muse, that's a sign something haughty is afoot. They need to let go of Resistance. Not even that good a song anyway. If they're going to rotate Hysteria, rotate it with something a bit more substantial, like City of Delusion. And Madness needs to leave the setlist. It does not in any way fit the tour.
I really like Drones so I'm sad to see it get such a confusing tour. The festival gigs I watched the streams of were a joy to watch, it looks like they put more focus on that.
I will end this post on a positive note though; I'm not too bothered about Matt's voice yet. To be fair, some videos from the first few gigs of the T2L 2012 had him sounding a bit off but over the course of the tour he began sounding better.
Ah well, I guess maybe it'll be a fun "in the moment" thing when I'm there seeing it in Denmark. Now off I go before I get bashed for being too positive.
-
He's been doing that for more than 10 years
He didn't do that on HAARP.
-
oh! Is anyone else amused that the website hosting the stream is Skynet?
And just in time for Terminator: Genesys no less
-
If that's honestly a 7/10 I don't think you're going to be over the moon with this tour.
Well I'm rating it based mostly on the performance soooo...
-
So pretty decent performance
Time to drop Micro Cuts me thinks. Matt was dropping words just to hit the notes and it was kinda sad to watch.
Great setlist but the flow could have been better, it kinda experienced a loss in momentum near the end
FINALLY Starlight doesn't sound like such a travesty
Matt hit a few bum notes tonight- to be expected I guess
UNO was fantastic and took me by surprise
Beautiful with the confetti and streamers during Mercy.
Overall 7/10. Performance was solid, setlist was great, but swapping a few songs around could have happened.

Drones > Black Holes.

Did anyone else notice on the DVD live footage, during The Handler, near the end, one of the roadies almost does the splits in perfect time to the music? I kinda giggled at that.
-
I was hoping the same thing, but then realised maybe the other 8 minutes wouldn't be worth it I think I'd rather have the 2 songs that slot might take up. Plus, if they're gonna be playing Citizen Erased, they might think it'd be a bit much to play The Globalist as well.
Only a couple of songs. Not sure when they're aired, but it'll probs be pretty soon after.
I was there 2 years ago when Maiden headlined, it was definitely almost a month after when the footage surfaced
-
I don't mind if Starlight is ruled out to make time for The Globalist.
If it means losing "regulars" like Map or Feeling Good, I'm all for it
-
Does the drum rolling part remind anyone else of Sign of the Cross by Iron Maiden, which has a similar but slower part?
It's at 1:53 in this video.

So the lyrics hypotheses can end
Where'd you find that image?
-
Don't see why people like the lyric videos. I know they're meant to create hype but the simple pan left/right, zoom in/out bother me. Just looks like amateur work.
I don't find anything interesting about The Handler video and the band looks awfully boring during the bridge of Psycho's video.
The lyric video for Reapers was pretty cool though.
-
Can someone explain how this is genius?
Here's what I made out of the lyrics
Killed by drones
My mother, my father,
My sister and my brother
My son and my daughter
killed by drones
Our lives between years and ties
Trigger and your lies
Have you regret?
Can you feel anything?
Are you dead inside?
Now you can kill, you're safe
Now you can kill
From the safety of your home
With drones
Amen

TIRO always gets me movin' every time and it's just one of those songs where you can feel the energy of the crowd through your feet, even if you're up in the shitey seats. It really is quite an amazing feeling.
I didn't mind Madness last tour but they need to lose it this tour; it doesn't fit the rather quite dark tone of the show and if they wanted to play a T2L song they should have gone with Animals or Survival.
