It’s just odd, I wasn’t expecting it to be a staple.

Also, in my head it has been replaced by the marching band version, so that may be why I like it less than I should.

It makes more sense than Psycho. Pressure is mediocre rift lifted by a great song, and not only is Psycho one of the greatest Muse rifts sunk by a shit song, it's fucking 6 minutes long! It's as if Psycho is man spreading on the setlist. You could add Hyper Music and The Small Print  to the setlist instead!

Very upset especially reading how easy some of you found it. My code was rejected and I double checked it was correct.  I am disabled so I'll try for a wheelcahir space.

Sorry to hear that, here's some tips for tomorrow morning:

Register your details on the ticketmaster website so it already has your payment and address details.

Have the ticket page open before and watch the count timer in the last five minutes. Make sure you've logged in to your account already.

When the timer reaches 0:00:00, refresh immediately once and click the 'join the queue button' once it loads (if nothing happens click the button again)

You'll be brought to a page showing your position in the queue. Ignore the number ahead of you but just wait for your turn (it whittles down quite quickly). Whatever you, don't refresh or you'll be put to the back of the queue, just wait and you'll be brought to the ticket page and then you can select your tickets and pay for them.

Hope it works out for you tomorrow!

They did spend more time in the studio this time around though?

Anyway it doesn't really matter if they don't end up doing all the things they say they wanna do. They wanted to do just singles for Simulation Theory, but then went back on it and started doing an album. That doesn't mean they lied when they said they wanted to do just singles. The reason we take their statements with a grain of salt is because, as you say, they end up going the normal route every single time. And I very much doubt they're actually gonna stop touring and start recording album after album. That wasn't my point. My point is simply that they're clearly enjoying their time in the studio. And I see no reason why Matt wouldn't just say "Honestly we just wanna get out there and tour" if that's how he felt.

Fair enough. But my original point was about 'Muse not enjoying making music' rather than spending time in the studio. I get the impression that  a lot of the time Muse spend in the studio is more on tinkering around with songs rather than core song writing. I  get the impression Matt really struggles with basic songwriting, not necessarily being bad at it, but struggles to bring a song together that he is happy with hence, why we end up with so few tracks compared to similar artists. I think this leads to Muse spending loads of time in the studio focusing on the production adding layers and layers rather than writing music. Look at Won't Stand Down, in the the first 5 seconds there are two synth tracks, a plucking cello track on top of heavily distorted bass, drum and vocal tracks. It's a huge overhead in terms of studio time. Whereas if you look at Citizen Erased, you get similar grandness but with just four tracks. It sort of feels the band end up spending more time Producing their own music rather than writing it. Drones was an example where they forced the strip down because they had a domineering producer who strong armed Muse into nailing the performance of the songs rather than focusing on how the instrumentation can be decomposed and recreated with synths and other instruments. In the lead up to ST, Matt explicitly that he moved away from this and towards focusing on the layering multiple tracks, and I think it really shows. It's obviously not an either/or situation because it's Muse, their songs should sound huge and epic, but the core songs themselves should be strong, not like lets say Thought Contagion where if you strip away the production, there's nothing underneath.

The above is a load of utter verbal toss I know but it's best I can do to explain why I haven't connected with much of Muse's output since Exo-Genesis.

  5. They've also gone on about spending more time in the studio or stop releasing albums and release EPs instead or becoming a house band in some dive bar while they record a new album. But we always end up with the same cycle with decreasing returns. There's nothing stopping them spending more time in the studio, no tours on the horizon and they are not exactly struggling indie band needing to get back on the road to pay the bills. I don't care really how long they spend in the studio, some bands end up producing both more and better with less time, but I'm not going to take Matt seriously when he says they could record multiple albums back to back. If they really wanted to, they could and would.

Matt literally just had an interview where he talked about how much they enjoyed making music together, almost to the point where they thought about JUST making music instead of touring

They've been saying crap like that since before Absolution. I'll take it seriously when we start seeing more than 10-11 songs per album cycle, not by interviews meant to hype the next album.

What happens when the album running time is already short and it still has songs that could've been cut completely? The first two released tracks are mediocre at best which means we'll be hoping for a half an hour of decent music at most.

This. You always get the impression that Muse put everything they record onto the album. I wouldn't mind a 37 minute album at all if I thought 5 weak songs were cut and would be released as b-sides (remember those!). It means it's less likely there'll be tracks I really like on album. I just find it disheartening that Muse can only come up with 37 minutes of music after 4 years. I'll live but it just comes across as incredibly unproductive for folk who are professional musicians. It feeds into my theory that the band don't particularly enjoy making music anymore and have been on autopilot for the last 2-3 albums.
