  1. Christ reading those T2L reactions was depressing, didn't realise how much it was praised when released. Only one or two voices saying what most of us think of it by now. Are we destined to repeat this cycle again?
  2. See I didn't mind that little snippet of Queen we can hear in the vocals behind Matt talking, seemed like it fit the song in a weird way, what we could hear anyway. But those lyrics are a bit out there
  3. Ok so just had a read of the translated album review from Ouest-France (it's a fairly negative one judging by the conclusion) and the article includes the rudimentary 'post a line of lyric' in the paragraph of the song they are talking about and some of them are really strange. Apparently this is a line in Defector: " Your blood is blue, your mind turned to green and your belly is yellow. " They also mention that the song is very Queen-like. I really hope this is just bad translation, has anyone read this review yet?
  4. That's what I thought, I think it will be a set of pure hits and they'll likely save the rarities for Download. I know people don't like the term "casuals" but if they exist, then Radio 1's big weekend would surely be the place you'll find them.
  5. I think people do it to kind of convince themselves that Muse's output hasn't gotten worse. Mine would be: I Belong to You Madness Explorers Big Freeze United States of Eurasia I could have included a track from Showbiz but at least that album's weakest moments are the result of a band still finding their way. The poorer tracks from the last two releases come off the back of three stellar albums and I find it quite baffling.
  6. I actually think Exogenesis was underhyped on the whole for how accomplished it ended up sounding. And still remains thoroughly underrated years later in my opinion.
  7. I sometimes wish we got a closer look at the behind the scenes stuff. The videos they release each album really just talk about the recording process, which most people know about anyway.
  8. I know but I still think what I said stands. I don't think a producer who's been working for 40 years+ would just "get the mixing wrong", people might not like it but I would say it's all very deliberate choices, whereas when it was Muse producing themselves there may have been a few oversights during the mixing process.
  9. I've seen a few people talk about the mixing so far and how they're surprised it's the way it is with Mutt at the helm, but I think things like the subtle synth (which is no more subtle than the chorus to SS) are probably because of advice from Mutt himself. I can't see a classic rock producer liking the idea of arpeggiated synth being at the forefront of a track. It's probably why the guitar sounds so prominent as well I would imagine.
  10. Weren't Muse in like the top 20 live performing earners on that Forbes list quite recently? They probably know most of their revenue comes from the world tours so there's no need to push the albums as much anymore.
  11. I think it's the same song but I agree it sounds totally different and I said this a while back. The build up to the main riff in the clip sounds so much softer, like a completely different guitar. I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed with the studio version of Reapers to be honest.
  12. I had to listen to Radio 1 on a job all day for 2 weeks recently (yes it was harsh) and DI was played at least twice, sometimes 3 times each day. The least I heard it was my second week when it was only played once on a certain day.
