  1. Are you two even for real?

You and smoledman almost sound butthurt because many people here really like ST after a run of three "fanbase-splitting" albums, while you not.

There's no problem in just admitting you don't like the album because it's not your cup of tea instead of hammering your own concept of "quality" (see "personal taste and preferences") like it's a universal assumption, y'know?

I have no problem calling shit music shit, here let me show you

You know that Radiohead album King of Limbs, it's shit, just like Kid A

And butthurt is not the word, I'm literally stunned that people like this album, I can't wrap my head around it and I've listened to it several times now, it's not good

  2. I don't have a problem with the band wanting to do new things, it's that those things should be quality not shit. Ergo, Radiohead.

Couldn't have said it better myself, although as a certified pretentious knob I probably could have, and for everyone waiting for Melon's review, if he even does review it, I predict it coming in low with a srong 4/10. He's gonna have to buy a new shade of red shirt for this album

  3. Go ahead brother

    I Belong to You

    Follow Me

    Explorers

    Save Me

    Liquid State

    Unsustainable

    Sign of the Times cover

Psycho (mainly because of the tacky Drill Seargent bits)

    Mercy

    Revolt

    Aftermath

    The Globalist

    Drones

    New Kind of Kick

Pressure (if this song had a solo and a less repetitive last chorus it wouldn't be on this list)

    Propaganda

    Something Human

    Thought Contagion

    Get Up and Fight

    Dig Down

As well as any type of prelude or spoken word segments like the JFK speech before Defector

I'm not saying some of these aren't good songs, I'm saying Guiding Light is better than all of them

  4. Anyone remembered when they posted a video of them rehearsing FAWY years ago?

Was about to say this was years ago and nothing ever came of it unfortunately

Also I believe that extra bit he used to play in Citizen Erased evolved into Supremacy

Something Human really worked for me in the iHeart show I really think it will be a nice song live; I've also never felt a need to skip it on album. That song is growing on me a lot, and I like it WAY better than something like guiding shite.

They've written at least 20 songs in the years since Guiding Light has been released that are not as good as Guiding Light

I'm ready to name them if you think I'm kidding

  5. No shit, that's why Muse's by-request shows have full crowds singing along to Muscle Museum but that wasn't the original point.

Okay well if you're basing it on quality of material overall, Muse have been spotty at best for the last ten years, AM you could make the argument didn't start to produce boring music 'til this last go around, and even then the last album is still pretty interesting even in its low points

And for the record this is not me saying I don't think Muse is great, clearly they are, just that they've gotten comfortable and it shows in their work

  6. The problem with this argument is that live shows are built around satisfying the largest portion of the audience as possible, the mainstream if you will, the crowd that's there because they liked what they heard on the radio. If you were to take BOTH Muse and AM and do shows based purely on what the hardcore fans wanted to see, I'm sure there would be an even mix of songs from every album regardless of how many albums each band has in their discography

Also you wanna talk snooze-fest, don't get me started on Unintended

  7. It's not a surprise to me that maybe finally Muse are losing fans..........this woeful new LP which is just as terrible as the last 3 & that Matt's pro brexit not to mention they couldn't even sell out the current 2 dates in London next year proves something......................oh & the predictable setlists since 2007

This album would be good if you were friends with Matt and one day he was like let me show you some demo's I've been working on, that way you could convince him to throw away half the album and rework the other half before things got serious

  8. Things you’ve gotta consider are though, that AM have 2 less albums and considerably less b-sides/overall non-album music than Muse to fit in and their earlier albums have some of their absolute biggest hits (and even some of those were barebones shortened versions). Muse don’t have an IBYLGOTD or Mardy Bum on Showbiz, that’s why they don’t play owt from it. They played some non-hit early stuff like Ritz and Do Me A Favour, sure, but it’s not unlike Muse doing Sunburn or AP when they came back to London in 2016.

And the playback stuff has only really been a problem on one tour so far. If it continues then fair play but, as it stands, it’s not a fair assessment of their overall live reputation imo. If you take them at the same point Muse were in their career (T2L), there’s no comparison to me.

Yeah they do, they just don't play Muscle Museum or Showbiz b/c they THINK people don't want to hear them when they very much DO...

Also AM have a large number of B-Sides too (that they also don't play live for whatever reason) so that point is kinda moot, although both bands have severely dropped off in terms of producing extra content (and before someone chimes in with bro haven't you seen the deluxe edition of ST, consider this: Glorious *mic drop*)

  9. That's pretty good.

I feel like my relationship with Muse right now has reached the stage where the other person's erratic behavior and idiosyncrasies are really putting a strain on the whole thing. Not yet time to call it quits but I'm definitely looking for more action on the side.

I've been cheating on them at the Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino when Muse leave for work in the morning (the affair's been going on for some time now unfortunately)

  10. Propopopopopopopoganda

Muh muh muh muh muh muh muh mad mad mad

This album would've made a strong EP

Man I hope they do another album by 2020.

I hope they don't come back til 2022 and maybe if we're lucky it will be with something that tops the first four records

  11. What they're complaining about is not your opinions of the album, it's the insinuation that people don't actually like things they say they like. Judge the album all you like, but judge people and you'll get this reaction.

Well I certainly understand this point of view, all I'm saying is I remember 2nd Law and Drones coming out and people freaking out that it was a return to form before they even had time to sit with the album, it's hard not to think the same thing is happening again

  12. Why do all these trolls that have no avatar have such a hard time accepting that people can like things that they don't?

Why are some of y’all so intent on people not liking it as much in time? Like, just let them enjoy it. Maybe it’ll fall off for them, maybe it won’t, but it’s like you’re hoping for other people to cool their opinion just to validate yours.

Why don't you just post a big sign at the top of the forum that will follow you as you scroll saying 'POSITIVE OPINIONS ONLY'

you can not like something and not be a troll or hater

  13. Sadly, give it another month and you guys will hate this album or just regard it as being as bad as drones/t2l. I personally think it's not right now but I can already see people downgrading the songs!

Been saying this since the beginning, that new release hype got everybody blinded. The past three albums make Resistance look like a masterpiece. I wonder if the results would be any better if they dropped the whole album every three years routine and just released music when it was ready. Having said that, Break It To Me is the best song on the album, getting heavy Assassin extended bridge vibes, followed closely by Blockades

Let's be real tho, Melon will have to buy a new red shirt when he reviews this album it's so bland. I'm feelin' a strong 3

I think Propaganda and Break It To Me have been the most wildly overrated tracks on the album. I can appreciate certain elements of each song but, taken as a whole, they're both complete messes. I honestly hope I'm wrong here but I can see both songs falling completely flat in concert.

That's a rough metric to judge a song by, most mainstream audiences have bland taste to begin with which limits the setlist for any longtime fans, this is true for many bands
