  1. I have also seen it used both as an archaic name/part of a name and, more often, in books when people are phonetically spelling how someone with a lisp or other speech impediment says "nice."
  2. Thank you. Really wanted the Showbiz that didn't cut out. Not sure if I'm up for listening to Glorious, tbh.
  3. I'm really, really curious at this point what the difference is in Matt's vocal struggles from tour leg to tour leg. I thought he sounded pretty damn decent on the amphitheater tour in the fall, and that last Oz gig had one of the worst Mercy's of the era.
  4. Didn't he make some comment around the time of the request gig about Fury being hands down the most requested song, though? I guess that's why I found it too much of a coincidence he went with that one.
  5. I suppose I should clarify that, despite all the evidence provided by Dig Down, I don't exactly think they've "run out of ideas" and I think it's ludicrous to assume that all artists eventually do, and spend the remainder of the careers churning out repetitious garbage. I'm just super irked by this "pull out a "hardcore" favorite song, and say we wrote a sequel to it" thing by now. It's dangling a carrot to fans that they then don't give two shits about when they go on tour. It's frankly a bit confusing. And the song in question is likely to cause as much disappointment as The Globalist, simply because of the comparison.
  6. I feel less like I'm nitpicking, and more just saying that - while I'd agree it's a good song - I've felt, since I listened to it more and more, that it apes an older style, but doesn't manage to recapture the emotion and what made that style good in the first place. For that reason, I much prefer DI, and even Mercy, which make me feel something.
  7. I'm hot and cold on it, I guess. It's absolutely not a bad song, but I have a hard time knowing if I'd like it as much as I did if it wasn't for the nostalgia at the end. Otherwise, it's a pretty long build up, especially with how repetitious that solo is.
  8. Except, even excluding the fact that Dig Down feels like it samples Madness, he's called two songs from Drones sequels? It's a recipe for disappointment, and makes me feel like they don't even try to be original anymore. (See also: Mercy and Starlight, the entirety of Psycho, etc)
  9. I see someone beat me to the book, but the song is likely to be about memes and fake news. So... more Drones era lyrics. Otherwise known as, a grade schooler's book report.
  10. Yeah, unfortunately "thought contagion" sounds like more of the same from Drones, doesn't it? I found it a bit funny that they stressed it being "heavy." Dig Down backlash, maybe?
  11. Or not. http://kroq.radio.com/2017/12/09/muse-tease-rocking-and-heavy-new-song-fourth-contagion/ I guess the only thing you can be sure with with Muse, is not to trust what they say.
  12. I've seen QOTSA once, ages ago, and listened to Homme talk about fucking a guy in the ass who threw a shoe on stage, and how he was going to carry said shoe from gig to gig to piss in it and be reminded of what a pussy the guy was... for at least ten minutes. And really, when was the last time we talked about an ongoing gig?
  13. I think Dom saying they're still looking for some inspiration on direction means new stuff is going to be a long way off. I'm actually surprised they put stuff on their IG about recording in that case, but it's what I believe anyways.
  14. Well, it does seem like they've abandoned the "singles" thing, at least their current plans for it. Then again, it's not like they've ever really stuck to their plans, and it wouldn't be the first time Dom and Matt gave different info during interviews, so who knows? Hearing Dom say they were recording "demos" and looking for help from a producer though does seem to indicate they've abandoned their original plans, and the other songs they'd recorded.
  15. I'm not totally against the idea of singles instead of an album, although I firmly believe in the case of Muse it would lead to a slew of Dig Downs. I just didn't get the need to try and make an "album" out of it after they were all out already. That wouldn't garner any new fans or attention, as the songs would have already been released. It's like a Greatest Hits album from a band that has one album... I thought the entire idea was Matt's conviction that no one buys albums anymore, anyways.
  16. I just never understood the idea behind putting out a bunch of individual songs and then putting them all on an album later... Just do one or the other.
