HEY FAM
i found this very fun but matt needs to put his clothes back on
She's back
-
Far away, this dick is taking me far away...
-
I've listened to it a few times and it still literally sounds like Starlight to me (with different vocals). I know Muse releasing a new song that sounds like an existing song isn't exactly unheard of, but I can't see this being any more than a novelty Halloween-themed performance of Starlight. (maybe a couple other songs too)
Just trying to keep my expectations low here
-
Just realised Tom's comment about a spider being the perfect guest star makes a lot more sense now.... Looks like he was filming something Muse-related after all.
-
Maybe it's the Zepp proshot
-
Can't wait, he showed such potential here:

He's hardly talking about "Matt" Matt, is he?
Probably not, unless Matt has taken up drums.

***Isolated System***
Psycho
The Small Print
Crying Shame
Map Of The Problematique
Easily
Big Freeze
Cave
Glorious
I Belong To You
Hoodoo
Screenager
Dark Shines
Exo-Politics
Futurism
Plug In Baby
Assassin
Exogenesis
The Globalist
Take A Bow
Fury
Unnatural Selection
Oh, Nina is Hoodoo? I assumed it was Feeling Good (obvs not a 'working title' as such but maybe a code name the band used at some point).
Finn's setlist has gone way over my head though...

***The Unknown***
Hollow Point
Action Faust
Swiss Rhapsody
Synthy Dreams
Easily Forgotten
Hiding To...
Nova Scotia
Church Of The Sub-Genius
Delilah
Nina
Razor Blades
Policing The Jackson Funk
Timescale Keeper
Electro Empire
Virtual Reality
Evaluating Mortals
Symphonic Monster
The British Empire
Hex
Get A Grip
Billions Of Digits Carved Into Tablets Of Crystal + riffs
I see what you did there. For some reason this looks like it could be a setlist of a prog-metal band or something
Wouldn't 'Hex' make a better closer than 'Billions of Digits...' though?
Also where did The British Empire come from? Musewiki says it's a working title for The Globalist but I can't remember ever hearing that name used during leadup to Drones.

For anyone who's not heard this batshit version of Micro Cuts from a Radio 1 session back in 2001 (pro tip: wait for the outro).
Holy shit.
Was not expecting dat Execution Commentary bit during the outro. Don't think I've ever heard them do that bit live, sounded mega. Also what the hell is Matt screaming just before that bit?
-
Now I'm imagining Matt singing the "SpiderMAAAAAAAAAN" at the end of that in epic falsetto like the end of Survival. I need this now
-
"someone shouted this out earlier so we'll give it a go"
Oh, the days when they'd just change the setlist on the fly like that
edit: I guess they did it at the Mayan last year... but still stuff like that should happen way more frequently
-
If they pull some last minute surprise out I really hope its after November, otherwise getting to the UK from Germany at an affordable price will be impossible for me.
Same. Everyone seems to be touring end of November/start of December so I'd be grateful if they could leave it until after then, pretty please

Some fans met Matt at a Nirvana tribute gig last night, so that could be where said info came from. I haven't heard any details about what (if anything) they talked about though
-
Using only songs from the last 3 albums:
[We Are The Universe]
1. Uprising
2. Reapers
3. The Handler
4. MK Ultra
5. Resistance
6. United States of Eurasia
7. Redemption
8. Animals
9. Defector
10. Follow Me
11. Revolt
12. Madness
13. Liquid State
14. Unnatural Selection
15. Survival
16. Overture
17. Supremacy
18. The Globalist
I'd swap Survival with TG, replace Madness with Dead Inside and put Cross-Pollination somewhere and I'd actually really like that.
-
I find it funny that Micro Cuts, one of their most vocally demanding songs (for Matt anyway) seems to have one of the smallest vocal ranges Never thought about it that way before.
edit: Also out of interest, where would City of Delusion fit into that?
-
I also think The Globalist is going to be something people will miss after they stop playing it.
I can't see myself missing it much. It was nice with the visuals and the flying Dildrone and such, but I can't see it working that well outside of the Drones tour context. Plus the fact that its absence will free up at least 2 slots for songs that drag on slightly less.
-
Assassin (GOB outro version or nothing)
Space Dementia
Sunburn
City of Delusion
Butterflies and Hurricanes
-
I can already imagine the reaction when an acoustic guitar appears in Matt's rig but turns out to be for an acoustic version of Resistance or something.
-
Dead Star (Etihad)
Hyper Music (Academy)
Stockholm Syndrome (Brighton)
Agitated (Download)
Map of the Problematique (O2)
Citizen Erased (Riga)
The Handler (Riga)
Bliss (O2)
Micro Cuts (Download)
Uno (Brighton)
Fury (Academy)
Animals (Etihad)
Plug In Baby (Etihad)
Time Is Running Out (Academy)
Reapers (Brighton)
New Born (Download)
Knights of Cydonia (O2)
Take a Bow (Riga)
(Did 3 from each gig because I've only been to 6 so far)
This would actually be pretty close to my perfect setlist tbh. Pretty pleased to have seen all these songs.
-
We all know the best live songs get dropped and the worst stay, so I'm guessing the only ones staying for next tour will be DI, maybe Psycho and maybe Mercy. (though none of those are terrible live tbh). Reapers, Handler and Globalist will almost certainly be gone. They'll still probably find a way to fit Drill Sergeant, JFK and Drones into the set though.
-
Did Biffy actually play every single song or did some get left out ?
There were a few that got left out. I think it went something like this:
Night 1: 11/12 from Blackened Sky, 11/13 from Puzzle (plus hidden tracks), 6 b-sides
Night 2: 10/13 from TVOB, 11/12 from Only Revolutions (the b-side version of The Captain was played instead of the album version), 6 b-sides
Night 3: 8/13 from Infinity Land, 12/20 from Opposites, 7 b-sides
-
That's an interesting idea, and interesting to see Coldplay do it, since they're a much bigger mainstream band than Muse.
I find it hard to believe Coldplay also doesn't have a very large "casual" fanbase.
Will be interesting to see if anything rare actually gets played, though.
They've already been doing it for their South American and European gigs this year, and generally the chosen songs have been old-ish singles and a few album tracks. Nothing super obscure like b-sides but still some songs that probably wouldn't get played otherwise. The equivalent of Muse playing stuff like B&H, Assassin, Hyper Music etc

Sorry, such a momentous occasion made me forget what the topic was...
I kinda want to see them do more fun covers like this, while they're in the mood. Maybe even a covers album like Metallica's Garage Inc. (preferably with a tour attached so they can play SOTT again, mmmmmm)
