  1. I mean stuff like Panic Station, Reapers, Psycho, Revolt (jesuschrist), Survival lyrics etc, where the whole thing "isn't supposed to be taken seriously". a few songs like that would be okay, but there's just way too much of that. And it feels like when someone tells a bad joke and when nobody is laughing they say "ahhh come on guys it was SUPPOSED to be bad, gosh..."

  2. Fuck fun. If I want laughs, I'll go listen to enter shikari or something. From Muse, I want goosebumps. and inb4 "omg u asshole u just want them 2 meet ur own Xpectationz omg" I'm seeing that they aren't becoming a "fun" band by choice, it's all there's left in them. It's like that tale with the guy who wanted too many years to live and he just ended up old fooling around like a kid.

  3. I don't really care anymore.

but when you hear shit like cia babe and on the outside I'm the greatest guy, you just can't "not care" I've reached a point when I'm actually embarassed to admit being a muse fan because of how impossibly painful the lyrics are 90% of the time

  4. yeah I agree. Matt likes to pretend he's dark but, taking the Muse songs into consideration, he really isn't. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. I personally live on a diet of Hannibal, Saw films and am always looking for music and films that push those kind of boundaries. Muse in comparison is a ray of happy sunlight (again, not necessarily a bad thing)

yeah, definitely. it's all pretty relative, though. if you're used to stuff like the haxan cloak or chelsea wolfe, Muse will feel like a sunny day with flying kangaroos. most of the time.

This is not a happy album

I'm not sure I agree.. it's got way too many silly and jolly elements to be considered bleak.

psycho, reapers, mercy, revolt (omg I still can't wrap my head around the fact that they actually made this), defector, they're all really positive/fun sounding songs despite whatever crappy "dark" lyrics matt came up when making them.

  6. it's not only about how many songs you get, though.. It's more about the overall intensity and atmosphere of the gig imo (that depends way more on the crowd than the band). From what I've seen, recent muse shows aren't top tier in that regard sadly, so I wouldn't pay for more than the one show they play where I live.
