  1. Yeah, it's on youtube. There's a "you will destroy you" lyric which irks me, but otherwise it's really neat. Song's called Overlord.

Also, The Armed have just put out what's probably this year's best hardcore punk album. Scabrous stuff :D

  2. If you don't know The Armed, you really should know them. Nastiest, best hardcore I've heard this year.

  3. Lamb of God just sent their fanbase into a tizzy with clean vox as well.

  4. :chuckle: Yeah it was, and I'm glad you enjoyed it :D I'll check out Veil of Maya tomorow
  5. 'sup. Come across any good heavy stuff lately?

  6. I agree with a lot of this. Drones is oddly mannered; on a surface it's like a slicker version of Absolution and BH&R's rockier fare, but without the invention and vitality of those songs. Now that Matt's ditched a lot of his allegories and committed to "serious" lyricism, his weaknesses are harder to put up with. There's no sense of humour or self-awareness as you get on, say, American Idiot or NIN's Year Zero, to name a couple of recentish, political concept albums.
  7. Gonna have to get on flickr or similar soon. Here are some facebook pics of my weekend in Rhosilli Bay.
  8. That's what I end up thinking after reading most stunt reviews.
  9. It's not as bad as some Pitchfork reviews, but it's still thoroughly immature.
  10. I think DiS were fairly on-the-money there, apart from the claim that Muse are beating the prog thing to death (if anything the album could use more weirdness). As for their claim that it's actually a very safe album rather than anything daring, I'm very much with them. Also, they don't really give the lyrics much of a kicking. I'm surprised more people haven't picked up on the relative anonymity of Dom's drumming- as I was with Matt Helders on AM, now I think about it.
  11. Not that many. Was trying to film most of them (though the focus thing messes up and I'm not sure how to deal with it).
  12. Well, not so much limp as I wanted more fire and less gloss. Reapers has rather goofy vocals up front and I can't help but think that breakdown was much more effective on Freedom, where everything in the song built to that climax. More ballads than were necessary.
  13. Globalist seems rather jumbled. Like bits of three songs stitched together. As for the title track, it's quite pretty but I don't think it really achieves anything. Overall, the album's playing it very safe indeed, and I can't begin to take the concept seriously.
