  1. Hey, have you checked out The Armed's new album yet? I reckon it'll probably be in my top 10 for this year :)

  2. Hey, how are the adventures in post-rock going? Or were those Dave's adventures? Anyway, how's tricks?

  3. would probably help. I need to give it an earphones listen, I think. Blasted it in the car today, twice in a row.
  4. I see. I just figured that was backing vocals- haven't got any half-decent ear/headphones at the moment.

It's definitely worth a repeat or two. Been singing the breakdown refrain from Polarizer for the last couple of days.

  5. Clearly my speakers don't show that stuff up very well. Kinda disappointed by that.

It's a smart attack, too. It's the little flourishes that clinch it for me, particularly that "leave the scraps! Leave the scra-aa-aaps!" in Polarizer.

  6. Yeah, it's on youtube. There's a "you will destroy you" lyric which irks me, but otherwise it's really neat. Song's called Overlord.

Also, The Armed have just put out what's probably this year's best hardcore punk album. Scabrous stuff :D

  7. If you don't know The Armed, you really should know them. Nastiest, best hardcore I've heard this year.

  8. Lamb of God just sent their fanbase into a tizzy with clean vox as well.

  9. :chuckle: Yeah it was, and I'm glad you enjoyed it :D I'll check out Veil of Maya tomorow
  10. 'sup. Come across any good heavy stuff lately?

  11. Hey, wee heads-up. Chaos Divine and Byzantine's new albums are cracking :D

  12. Found an album by Chaos Divine which I think you'll dig :) Really pretty, melodic metal.

  13. Hard-rock with a serious sci-fi bent. Killing Joke-style distant roars, big bass riffs and hyperactive synths.

  14. You might like the No Spill Blood album, been listening to it a lot lately.

  15. Dunno if you are/were into Gallows, but I've been revisiting Grey Britain. Forgot how savage it is.

  16. Possibly because it comes off a bit like Opeth's Heritage in that you're expecting heavy but it doesn't really arrive.

  17. So it seems we'll be getting a new new Deftones album before Eros. Sixteen tracks and a less conventional album. From what they're saying it sounds like it'll be closer to Eros in spirit than Diamond Eyes or KNY.

  18. Damnit :chuckle: Good choruses too.

  19. Have you heard anything by Hawk Eyes? Came across their new album recently, struck me as something you might like.

  20. That's a good point. I ought to check out more of their stuff, but I don't much time sat around with my stereo these days. Came across a good post-hardcore act called Hawk Eyes lately, though.

  21. I think grittier would've taken away from the glacial aspect, if you know what I mean.

  22. Mate, you really ought to check out A Swarm of the Sun. Just discovered them, very nice stuff (in a really chilly, bleak way)

  23. Where's a good place to start? I can only think of one or two acts with vocals as savage as Bannon's. The climax of Jane Doe is so wrenching though.

Both are very good, though I don't know which one I prefer.

  24. Are Loma Prieta worth a listen?

A few trips to various pubs, mostly. Went up to Aber for most of the week, did a couple of paddling trips though nothing particularly exciting.
