  1. You know what you wanna see? Baby seals, that's what. It's also been snowy lately:
  2. https://vimeo.com/176557636
  3. I found with Vektor you have to really get past those vocals. Started with the shorter songs and then moved onto the album as a whole.

  4. Hey, did you check Vektor and Binary Code? The latter are probably the best djenty act I've found besides Textures (obviously Meshuggah are an entity all their own.

Also, new Three Trapped Tigers is excellent.

  5. I'd still opt for something dirtier and more grandiose than Drones. Think albums in general, not just Muse's discography. Actually, listening to Alien some more, there's some nice emphasis on the bass here.
  6. Not a bad shout. I think I plump more for what Devin Townsend achieved on Alien, but that might be a little too extreme (though the idea of SS given that massive, sledgehammer force is seriously appealing). Pelagial by The Ocean might be a better fit.
  7. Which is why we're talking about things sounding muddy, spacious, clean, etc. As we're on a !usic forum, it's a safe bet that we've heard enough music to know subpar production when we hear it, even when we don't get the technical aspects. What sort of production do people feel would suit Abso best?
  8. I don't think the TG-4 has that, sadly, but I'll check the settings
  9. I'd say they had a few decent songs on Californication and two on By The Way. But they haven't released a solid album since BSSM
  10. Didn't they do three further albums with Rubin?
  11. BH&R would benefit. I could see Abso and Origin benefitting from a less extreme version of the production used on Alien by Strapping Young Lad. Alternately claustrophobic, then massive and spacious. Californication has some painful moments in that regard
  12. Cheers guys. I've spent so much time on the Kaituna, I've learned the best angles pretty well. That gap in the trees on the last one helps. Yeah, it's a proper jungle run
  13. T2L is the best-produced, although that production wouldn't be the best fit for Abso or Origin.
  14. Hey dude, if you liked that Textures song they just released the album :)

  15. Yeah. I don't think anything can top the Robb Stark and Jeyne one I saw a while ago. Went looking for touching and melancholy, ended up running away from bestiality.

The best one I've read was actually a very clean (excuse me while I lose all my remaining street cred) Warhammer 40K one. Four genetically engineered super-soldiers find themselves looking after a baby on a battlefield.

Still, the Mundane Alt Universe Award goes to the one which starts with "Sansa's dad Ned runs a successful waste disposal company..."

  16. Was reminded of your grumble about mundane fan-fics last night. Idly putting off sleep, and I came across one for Mad Max. Fuzzy on the details, but it something like Max running a garage and Furiosa et al operating an attached garage. Totally befuddled by that one.

To be honest, every time I look at those things there's something that horrifies me and leaves me just wanting to read a book. So I'm staying well away from the Force Awakens stuff. Even if I have built up a whole alternative trilogy of prequels through all my daydreaming :chuckle:
