  1. Yeah, it's not as good as Pelagial for me, but still epic. BTW, Caligula's Horse need to be on your radar and... I totally forgot to activate that discord link, are you able to re-invite me?

  2. Just watched the trailer. Not sure I'm ready

  3. Yeah ha.

I've used that old Taken clip a few times to show up how ridiculous so much editing is now

  4. Months after I leave...

  5. My fiend had the translation of the original French version. So Lancelot is never, ever wrong. Especially when he decides to fight for some guy against Arthur, routs the army of Camelot and then gets the other king to surrender because he adores Lancelot so much.

  6. Because you're one of two boardies who might've done, have you read Lancelot of the Lake? Because a backpacker friend was reading it on our trip around the Milford Sound, and read several passages out to me. We've concluded that Lancelot, as a French insertion into an English tale, might be the original Mary Sue. Also, a bafflingly large portion of the aristocracy seem to have dedicated themselves to stopping people from crossing bridges.

  7. Sounds promising. I read Bran saying it'll be rather dark

  8. I feel they earn the level of drama, and Greg takes the mania to places where most vocalists can't reach

  9. I seriously think Nothing to Forget is my favourite Dillinger song. Certainly my favourite performance from Greg

  10. Ooh, that's tempting. Fingers crossed for DEP too

  11. I found with Vektor you have to really get past those vocals. Started with the shorter songs and then moved onto the album as a whole.

  12. Hey, did you check Vektor and Binary Code? The latter are probably the best djenty act I've found besides Textures (obviously Meshuggah are an entity all their own.

Also, new Three Trapped Tigers is excellent.

  13. Hey dude, if you liked that Textures song they just released the album :)

  14. Yeah. I don't think anything can top the Robb Stark and Jeyne one I saw a while ago. Went looking for touching and melancholy, ended up running away from bestiality.

The best one I've read was actually a very clean (excuse me while I lose all my remaining street cred) Warhammer 40K one. Four genetically engineered super-soldiers find themselves looking after a baby on a battlefield.

Still, the Mundane Alt Universe Award goes to the one which starts with "Sansa's dad Ned runs a successful waste disposal company..."

  15. Was reminded of your grumble about mundane fan-fics last night. Idly putting off sleep, and I came across one for Mad Max. Fuzzy on the details, but it something like Max running a garage and Furiosa et al operating an attached garage. Totally befuddled by that one.

To be honest, every time I look at those things there's something that horrifies me and leaves me just wanting to read a book. So I'm staying well away from the Force Awakens stuff. Even if I have built up a whole alternative trilogy of prequels through all my daydreaming :chuckle:

This is what I meant. Abrams is a Spielberg acolyte so I suspect these crop up quite a lot in his work.

  17. Yeah, there's a real resemblance without being slavish.

  18. Been making some further forays into sludge lately. High On Fire's album is just awesome. Thrashy sludge, catchy too.

  19. Did you near the Domovoyd album in the end? That and Minsk's have given me a real appetite for heavy psych, do you know of any other good acts in that scene?

  20. Hola. Have you heard any of the new Domovoyd album? I think you'll find a lot to like.

  21. I forgot about my avatar :chuckle:

  22. Either way, you should see it.

  23. Esteemed Mr Gil, was it to you that I enthusiastically recommended Shaun the sheep?

  24. The "post" bit makes sense with the best acts- Isis in particular, and I really like Pelican and Russian Circles. But then you get acts who are so formulaic that they make a mockery of the term. Anyhoo, there is some terrific stuff coming out now, just takes some digging to find.

  25. I imagine it's like a black coffee enema for the uninitiated. Straight from the pot. I'm at the stage I had to work to with Converge as well, finding individual refrains and riffs that really stick with me now.

BTW, are you into your post-metal/rock at all? Minsk, A Swarm of the Sun and Hubris' albums are easily my favourites from that area so far this year.
