  1. Bit late for the competition though... but here's some 35mm film with a bit of reflections... zenit TTL colour film by Aidan H., on Flickr
  2. [soundcloud] [/soundcloud] posted this one a while ago, but here is a mixed and mastered version still some of that mic buzz lingering over the mix at the beginning, but they did a better job of hiding it without destroying clarity of the track than i could!
  3. You fooled me with the drum track! I thought it had such a great sound, here I was wanting to know what you used to get such a good sound I still wouldn't call it cheating, you a really impressive demo out of it! Really good sound for something that was done in what I'm assuming was a short amount of time
  4. It was actually the first time I've ever recorded vocals. It recorded straight into my Zoom R8 interface, and I assume it was almost all mic buzz because I've been having issues with that input for ages so put the gain up way too high so I could get the volume we needed (bad move ) That song you just posted is great! You're right about the bass part having a huge range, and due to that it can lack a little bit in times. But honestly its nothing big to worry about, I would never have picked a problem with it unless you pointed it out, and it being all I'm thinking about while listening. I caught a session on production at Bigsound (a music conference in Brisbane) this year and the general message about a mix was to find something that you don't immediately hear something that desperately needs to be fixed while listening, then its time to let it go. Definitely a good point to keep in mind when you're not sure if you're happy with what you've ended up with
  5. thanks for the feedback! Even though the vocal performance is great, I wasn't 100% happy with the recording quality of it, but it's all I could use. After EQing to remove the pretty terrible hum it was sounding pretty muffled, so I really did all I could with it. I still cringe a little bit in parts but i've come to the conclusion I'll never be perfectly happy with a mix
  6. http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Tremors Download/stream in the bar on the right. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Thank you! It does cost a fair bit but when I get results that I'm really proud of, like these ones Its set then.... extreme angles! closes 31st of January! how is the voting going to work?
  8. ahh wish I had a proper film camera as opposed to my lomo (though it's nice to have). I love how bokeh looks with film grain. my biggest pet peeve must be photos that are photoshopped to look lomo/vintage-ey. As I live in Los Angeles, the snow/ice theme will be hard to photograph for but a challenge is a challenge! probably not important right now, but how will we go about picking a new word every week? does the weekly "winner" get to choose, or something? I love my Film SLR! and I can't stand that too, that's why I made it clear they were unedited, because I've seen seen that yellow/orange can be recreated (obviously nothing like the real thing) very easily by things like iPhone apps! And yeah, Australia makes it hard for snow I think each competition should only have 1 theme and 1 photo, to make it easier to choose who you're going to vote for.
  9. Not 1 or 2, because plenty of people might be pretty disadvantaged judging by where they live for these. But the rest sound great, I'm keen to do this!
  10. Another roll of film done today! all of these are straight from the scans... completely unedited! C007019-R1-02-3A by Aidan H., on Flickr C007019-R1-04-5A by Aidan H., on Flickr C007019-R1-12-15A by Aidan H., on Flickr C007019-R1-16-19A by Aidan H., on Flickr
  11. thanks! thanks for the advice! i'll probably be heading back there sometime soon so i might try that one again! i love the fireworks photos, especially that second last one! i found myself watching the fireworks, SLR in hand, with no tripod, so i couldn't get anything good at all!
  12. This one! So good!  Tried a HDR of my own yesterday! Untitled by Aidan H., on Flickr and my first manual pano! Melbourne Pano by Aidan H., on Flickr  Bridge by Aidan H., on Flickr  i got photoshop for christmas
  13. Untitled by Aidan H., on Flickr One of the few shots that I like that came out of my last roll!
  14. Yeah, both of them are black! It was a last minute change for me to get the black ones, but i'm pretty happy i did! roland cube 30 at the moment, not exactly my dream amp i'll most likely be getting a Vox AC30VR soon, should be sweeeeeeeet. PICS.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/ah08512/sets/72157628298528041/with/6828067191/ just added a few more to here!
  15. You can't do a whole lot of different stuff with it, but it's pretty great for it's price. I think I only paid $30 for it (£20), and it's lasted me a while. The behringer distortion you'll get for that price doesn't even compare I love it! It's been getting plenty of use since I got it off you!
  16. ashton distortion I painted it because it looked so boring, and to hide it's cheapness a bit

Yeah, at least no one can complain about the 8 track album now. I'm still so hopeful that Radiohead will tour Australia for this album, I need to see them live so badly :p

Foo Fighters were so good, Dave was drunk and awesome. I got barrier which I thought was a pretty good effort, the mosh was epic. So many crowdsurfers XD

Are you liking the 2 new radiohead songs. I haven't really listened to them enough to form an opinion, but on first listen I like. Hoping I'll get a copy of the vinyl when they put them on the waste store :D

I've heard Josh Thomas is really good, but I haven't seen much of him apart from on random tv shows, and they're all usually pretty censored, which wrecks it a bit :p.

Have you been to any good brisbane gigs this year? All I've gotten to was Foo Fighters with You am I and Cloud Control, and got tickets for John Butler in a few months, which shall be awesome.

Hopefully they still do sideshows in Brisbane, last year they didn't, because just because woodford is close :| Who did you see at the comedy festival? I saw arj barker at the festival, and Tim Minchin that same weekend.

It's AMAZING! I want to be there so much! Most of the bands I really want to see are australian though, so it'll definitely be cheaper to see them on their own tours or BDO this year.

...and last.fm isn't working again. it hates me. :p
