  1. Good to hear!

Hmm interesting. I haven't seen it yet but I'll let you know what I think. I'd forgotten Perlman was in it! :awesome: I guess he's been in quite a few Del Toro movies now.

Yeah. Oh and I recently found out the grand prize for the hunt. To put it into context - first year was a trip to Rome. Second year was a trip to Scotland! This year - an island near Vancouver . I'm sure it'd be a lot of fun anyways but of course for the first year I'm doing this the grand prize is right next to where I live :chuckle:

Thanks! It took a long time. I'm not expecting to win :chuckle:

  2. I've been away and didn't have internet D:

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! I hope you had a great day! Sorry to have missed it!

Ahh I don't know, maybe she didn't get thrown around but I just remembered it that way :chuckle:.

Yeah, Guillermo Del Toro alone is a good reason to see it :yesey:. Well it seems to be getting alright reviews so far. The security for my theater is pretty bad too; it would be easy to sneak in to another movie now that I think of it :shifty:. I haven't seen too many of the Godzilla movies. Maybe I should watch more of the others first.

Well I don't remember it too well to be honest, I just seem to remember that they weren't that many shown... I mean I could be wrong. I would still recommend it though. Yeah, it did.

Thanks :p. Yeah we're pretty organized so far, and finally have a whole team of 15. Just counting down the days now!

On a side note, I'm going to the Vancouver Supernatural convention in August and there's a centrepiece contest; I just finished my entry (I just thought, why not? :chuckle: It's nothing special, just for fun):

  3.

Haha  yeah, I think writing it all out made me realize how much I actually disliked it :chuckle:.

Yeah, I didn't like how RIGHT after the military guy said "oh, don't go out at night, it's too cold and you could slip" or something like that - just because she sees a guy walking around means she HAS to go out and walk on the narrowest ledges to find out... I mean, sure, okay, maybe she has a thirst for adventure in her heart. But that was a bit stupid. Yeah someone should've seen her.

    Re: Zod, hmm maybe.

Exactly, I really remember a lot of people finding out about Clark being Superman. And good point about all the damage to her house. (Also - his mom got thrown a really far distance and got up without injury... especially as an older woman, that's hard to believe.)

    :chuckle: Perhaps it does!

 That is a great review! :awesome: IHOP. Yeah, that's another thing. There was SO much product placement everywhere... and oh yeah, the Jesus... and the tornado they were clueless of... anyways, yeah I agreed with them xD

I'm SO STOKED for Pacific Rim. Reminds me of Gundam. :awesome: (Ahahaha - sneak in after that movie? :awesome:)

Also, Godzilla's filming in Vancouver now.

There wasn't too much explicit zombie violence. In fact, even the zombies getting killed weren't shown that much, if I remember correctly - not at all like in the Walking Dead. The movie was more focused on the humans than the violence. But then, it's hard to remember exactly - I didn't think about that while watching! Well, I'm going to rewatch it later ;)

Yeah.. I can't imagine what I'm going to have to do to get lots of points for my team :shifty:

  4. I'm going to have to reply to you tomorrow - for now, just wanted to wish you a Happy 4th of a July! :awesome:

(sorry I'm a bit late). I hope you had a great day!

  5. Happy 4th of July! (sorry I'm a bit late)

  6. Thank you!. It's the anniversary of the British North America Act, which created Canada out of the union of three colonies, but we were still a part of the British Empire.

There's only been one regular season game played, which we lost (I didn't get to see it but apparently we were horrible in the first half and really picked it up in the second), and we went 1-1 in the preseason. The next game is tomorrow so hopefully they'll have fixed some stuff up! I'm going :awesome:. Ahh that's too bad to hear, I hope they pick it up too! When are the playoffs?

I saw it on Monday! I loved it :awesome:. It was really edge-of-your-seat. I loved the book too, and yeah it was very different. I was curious how they would translate it to the screen. At the time I thought the ending of the movie was very abrupt but I think it's grown on me. Also, loved Isolate System throughout it :awesome:;)

Glad to here! Ahh nice! That sounds amazing. I've never been anywhere like it. My summer's been okay - I'm not doing very much these days except work, but my days off have been very relaxing. I've seen a lot of movies with friends, and have registered for my courses for next year - I'm actually pretty excited for school xD

  7. Thanks! :awesome:

Are you ready? I wrote a lot. I'M SORRY! You may get the impression that I kinda disliked it...

Firstly, it felt like the movie didn't really get started until halfway through. The first half was really slow and repetitive with flashback after flashback trying to show that Superman had a hard/tortured childhood as the odd-one-out, just wanting to be normal... but come on, I got that from the first flashback; no need for the abundance of others. Everytime a flashback came I groaned because they were nothing new and didn't add anything more to the movie - they just made the pacing even worse and felt out of place.

Lois Lane was really boring. Her romance with Superman was sigh-worthy contrived cheesiness. And she kept miraculously showing up everywhere. If it wasn't for Superman she would've died five times over. If she'd died I would've actually felt nothing, I just couldn't care. Actually, Superman was pretty boring too. All the characters were one-dimensional, despite all the flashbacks that tried to show otherwise.

I did NOT understand the laws that governed Superman's powers vs. the powers of those on Krypton - I thought they kept contradicting themselves, a lot. For example - Superman couldn't breathe on the alien ship, but was able to be just fine flying around outer space? If he loses his powers on the alien ship why wouldn't he lose them in the vacuum of space?

The fight scenes were really repetitive too, just people bashing each other through walls of buildings over and over. And the destruction was so overdone, for so much action it was actually really boring. Wouldn't Superman have tried at least to get them to fight overseas or in places a whole lot less populated? Didn't he care about all the people that got killed in the process? He even threw the bad guys into buildings with hundreds of people in them... I don't see how he couldn't think about that. I shudder to think of how many innocent people were killed because of, well, him. He didn't even try to get the fight away from Metropolis. Keep in mind, in dozens of decades worth of comics, Superman would do ANYTHING to save innocent people, and does not kill, NO MATTER WHAT.

I didn't understand how he destroyed the World Engine. He approaches the gravity beam and gets a lot weaker (because the conditions are like Krypton's) but then all of a sudden is able to fly and destroy it in one go. And when Lois falls out the back of the helicopter, she totally should've been sucked straight into the gravity beam. Ahh the physics of this movie.

Clark spent years, arguably even his whole life getting used to the Earth's conditions and working out his powers, yet Zod is able to do so in minutes/hours.

The last fight scene with him about to snap Zod's head made no sense. The lasers were coming out of Zod's eyes, and he was obviously struggling to make it move to the people. Kay, so he couldn't move his head. But couldn't he move his eyes at least? He would've been able to kill the family by moving his eyes even SLIGHTLY to the right. But anyways, I thought there was PLENTY of space for the people to get out of the way. And then Superman snapped his head, but he snapped it in the direction of the people if I remember correctly. Even a small change in angle of Zod's head would result in a whole lot of movement of the laser, right into the cowering people.

I didn't like how he works at the Daily Planet (in Metropolis, which appeared to have been insanely destroyed...) at the very end, and under the name Clark Kent - didn't the world find out from Lois that Clark was Superman earlier? He should've been working there a lot earlier.

And how many lines did Superman even get in this movie? Like, 10? 11? He pretty much just stood around frowning and brooding the whole time.

Overall it had tons of plot holes (more than I've listed for sure), didn't make sense, and was just way too illogical to be enjoyable for me. It had no heart or humanity. It also messed up what Superman is SUPPOSED to stand for, as he has in decades of comic books..

World War Z was really good though!

I thought the ending was kinda all-of-a-sudden and there were a few typical unbelievable coincidences. But there were a lot of really intense moments, and I really enjoyed it overall. Isolated System worked really, really well. And Follow Me was in the credits xD and, it was instrumental. So it actually worked okay!

There's a bit of a gallery on the GISHWHES website! http://www.gishwhes.com/ . Not all the items are on there of course, but some good ones are! :awesome:

  8. Exactly! No idea how it fits in . Hmm I read good reviews about it; I'm definitely going to see it soon. Although apparently fans of the book didn't like it as much.

I didn't like Man of Steel that much, actually. Glad you liked it though!

:chuckle: Here are the items for last year's hunt: http://almaasi.tumblr.com/post/34624870792/gishwhes-2012-list-of-items. It's going to be crazy! Thanks :awesome:

  9. Really! I can definitely imagine Isolate System but Follow Me seems a bit to happy/cheesy for a zombie flick :chuckle:. I don't know, it might work! I've heard mixed reviews for Man of Steel. How did you like it?

I'm going to do Misha's GISHWHES this summer :chuckle:

  10. He probably will!

 Awesome! I love how they've got a supply of redshirts locked in room :chuckle:

Which Muse songs do you think will be in the World War Z movie? :awesome:

  11. Interesting, I can see what you're saying. Perhaps the next movie will have a less serious Spock; it would make sense for him to start out uptight and serious like in the movies and then be the more laid-back serious you mentioned, as in the TV show, since the TV show still happens after the movie.

Speaking of old vs. new Spock: :chuckle:

    Khan was very badass :yesey:.

Ahh I see what you're saying. Well the latest rumour is Joe Cornish, though I'm not familiar with his work. I don't have anyone in mind otherwise!

  12. That is a crazy setlist! Lucky them :awesome:

Nice! I hope they can keep it up. Yeah I'm glad for football! I can't wait!

 It's ridiculously awesome. You can't just watch it once :chuckle: there's too much you'll miss the first time. It was so ridiculous, though. And crazy because Japan can be that crazy too. You can tell they love Japan :chuckle:. I LOVE that they are in World War Z! I'm wondering which songs they will put in. Isolate System for sure (well it was in the trailer). Survival maybe? I'm not really sure, because none of the songs are that dark, and it's a zombie/horror movie, so... we'll see. But I'll always love Muse + zombies :yesey:. What do you think? And lucky all those fans who can see the free Muse concert after the premiere. Very jealous :chuckle:

Nice! You're probably there right now; I hope you're having a good time! :awesome: Tell me about it!

  13.

Yeah! I wonder what he's doing right now. Just chilling in Heaven maybe... since it's just him up there with all the human souls... or if he's plotting something big.

Me neither. I think they would still have most of their powers, but would gradually lose them if the Metatron situation isn't dealt with soon. Yeah, Cas looked heartbroken. I would love that for Crowley too :chuckle:. Exactly! :chuckle:

I love new Spock! I love old Spock too. It's an interesting but different take on him for sure. I'm still getting used to him and Uhura though, because old Spock would never have had a long-running romantic interest, I think. And yes, Benedict was awesome :awesome:

Probably! They've done Romulans, a human/the Federation, so next has got to be Klingons. I'm not sure how I feel about the new Klingons; they look pretty cool and sleeker but they're unfamiliar to me so they don't feel very Star Trek-y, if that makes sense.

I hadn't heard that! That's good timing; I think they've got enough time to make the movie by then so that would be a great release year. JJ Abrams again, perhaps? I don't know his current stance on directing Star Trek again.

  14. I see! :chuckle: Well either way it'll be a heck of a show :awesome:.

Exactly! Nice :awesome:. How are they doing in the standings overall? The Canucks too . Eliminated in only four games, so my hockey cheering days ended very quickly as well! Actually the head coach was fired today.

Football season's coming up so soon! And we got free preseason tickets too :awesome: I can't wait!!!

Great!. I'm glad to hear that! :awesome:.

    :chuckle: Me too!

What did you think of the Panic Station video?

  15.

Yeah, effing Metatron . I didn't expect at all that he'd be the new Big Bad for next season (or, one of them). Cas must feel even more guilty now. It's kinda too bad though that the last time we've really heard about how Cas is feeling, he said he felt so guilty that he was feeling suicidal (in 8x08 Hunteri Heroici), but there's been no talk since about how he's been doing.

The final shot was beautiful. I mean, the effects were beautiful - one of my favourite shots of the series, I think - but also so tragic! :( I wonder what will become of the angels now. If there's any way of reversing the spell, and if they'll lose their powers or if it's just Cas who's human now. And JEEZ Cas is human now! :'( You could just see the sadness and loss in his face at the end there as he watched all his brothers and sisters falling. I could see Cas becoming human though; Misha being a regular was a big implication. I wonder how they'll deal with his humanity now - if it'll be a big storyline thing, or if it'll be pushed to the background.

I really hope that Naomi's not dead, but doubt it. She was one of my favourite additions to the series. I loved to hate her :p. I'm sad she probably won't be around to see season 9, especially as she kinda redeemed herself right before she died. Sad what she said about the angels forgetting that their mission was to protect humans. And too bad about Abaddon losing her vessel - I liked her too. Wonder if she'll become the Queen of Hell now, in place of Crowley.

And good idea about Crowley becoming an ally! I can see that. Mark Sheppard nailed his scenes. I felt so much for Crowley as he became more human. Funny how his accent started to change to a more American one as he humanized, since isn't his vessel a New York stock broker or something? :chuckle: Nice touch, Mark. But really, yeah I wonder if he'll go back to his demon self since he wasn't completely cured, or if he'll be a semi-demon semi-human, and if now that he remembers what it's like to be human, he'll become an ally.

I was initially shocked that Dean and Sam stopped closing the gates of Hell of all things, considering that the whole season has revolved around the trials and tablets and stuff, and it was at first glance at very similar situation to Swan Song. But where that involved saving millions/billions of lives, closing the gates of Hell was more of a clean-up kinda thing (i.e. not a necessity for the survival of humanity), and they really do have a lot more knowledge to fight demons with. I could understand Dean's reasoning.

Lastly, I liked the cupid scene in the bar :chuckle:. And the shock on Dean's face!

No wonder the next few months are called the Hellatus.:facepalm::LOL:

Darn, spoiled about Iron Man 3? Glad that you've managed to be saved from Star Trek 2 spoilers! It was a great movie :awesome:. I think I liked the first one a bit more but I'll have to watch the second one again to make a better comparison.

Definitely seeing Star Trek 2 (Wrath of Khan) added to the experience of watching this new Star Trek 2.

  16. TODAY! :awesome:

    Yeah :p

I did too (re: subplot)! I also think the movie had more laughs than the other two. You are a big movie geek :awesome:! Yeah I have too. But someone went and accidentally spoiled the villain for me :fear:. Ahh well, it happens. Bones is awesome :chuckle:. I still think Spock is my favourite.

  17. It was good! I'm so looking forward to the finale! (But not, also, because it means no more Supernatural for months :(:p). It looks really fast-paced.

I do too! Crowley's very smart. And his speech was perfect. I loved the little addition of the "Saving people, hunting things, the family business" line. It was brutal how they re-introduced Sarah into the story, gave her a husband and a kid and then just killed her off.

I didn't expect Cas to be doing that either! I was 99% sure it would be Dean! I do too. Though it's kinda beautifully tragic that the first trial for cutting off the ties between Earth and Heaven would be to kill off an offspring of the two. I wonder, though, if Metatron was telling the truth about the trial. Could he be manipulated by Naomi already? I didn't think about the armless demon but you're right!

    Gotta love Crowley :awesome:

Only thing that bothered me about the episode was that Sam and Dean left Abaddon all alone. for amazing hunters they should've known better! :chuckle:

Dean was really harsh to Cas about not trusting him and leaving again but I think he was right for being so mad. I loved the scene when Cas was shopping for Dean's favourites as an apology :chuckle:

I didn't get either; there were quite a few people in line behind him and I didn't want to be too creepy

Iron Man 3 was great! Not sure if I liked it more than the first yet, but certainly more than the 2nd. I haven't heard of a lot of the movies you mentioned :$. Wolverine, Man of Steel, and Star Trek 2 are on my list for now.

  18. I loved it though there were a few things that have bugged me.

The line about Sam and Dean going to the Grand Canyon when they were little threw me off. Dean explicitly said in season 3 that he's never been to the Grand Canyon. Of course I'm probably making a bigger deal about of this than I should be but :chuckle:

More importantly, I wasn't sure about Naomi talking about Cas' past rebellions. She mentioned the "crack in his chassis" (or whatever the line was), how he's fundamentally different from the other angels, and that no matter how many times he's been reprogrammed, he's always tended to side with humanity. But I thought that it was the Winchesters (mainly Dean) who influenced him to rebel and side with humanity - wasn't that his entire story arc of seasons 4 and 5?

Also getting really tired of how Dean yet again was delegated to caretaking for Sam. That's been the majority of his "story" this season.

Other than that I enjoyed it! I liked Metatron and thought the story on the archangels and his leaving of Heaven was really interesting. I liked how he asked Dean whether he was sure he wanted to close the gates of Hell, if he had thought about the consequences, etc. It's an interesting question.

And a lot of other aspects of the episode. Crowley and his "directing" (it seemed so much like Crowley to do that, more like the Crowley from previous seasons than this season's Crowley has been), Kevin figuring out about fake!Dean and fake!Sam (Crowley: they were "too polite?"), Cas using the Biggerson's restaurants to evade the angels (I loved the little reference to physics and superpositions as the way Cas was hiding :awesome: yay physics!), and Dean and Sam really looking like they're brothers again.

Kinda funny, but remember the stuck-up librarian/archive-desk-worker in 8x13 "Everybody Hates Hitler"? He was a customer at work today :chuckle:. He looked so familiar and I was sure it was him so I asked him if he was in a Supernatural episode and he said yes, and that I was the first person to recognize him :chuckle:. He said he auditioned 6 times for a role on Supernatural before getting that part. He was really nice!

    Yeah! :awesome: Summer movies!

Are you planning on seeing Iron Man 3 soon? I'm seeing it tomorrow! There are a lot of great movies coming out soon

  19. Aww well you couldn't have known, right? In retrospect you may bang yourself over the head about it but back then you couldn't have know ;). It's totally worth it! Are you getting floor tickets or seats again?

Nice! :awesome: I'm glad they're doing well! Not that I'm glad they lost because of bad luck, I guess it's better than losing because of poor playing? I guess :p

Hmm I haven't read too much about the upcoming season yet! Most of the talk these days is about the Vancouver Canucks since it's playoff time. The Canucks are doing so poorly :noey:. Ahh well, I'm a way bigger football fan than a hockey fan; I'm losing interest in hockey to be honest.

Done tomorrow! :awesome: How did you your exams and papers go? It must be awesome to be done with it all :D

Yep! We'll both be in the same faculty too xD

Thanks! Glad about your grade back so far! And that your exam went well.

I will! I've gotten a few American customers so far but mainly European. I'm sure I'll meet more St. Louis people by the end of the summer :chuckle:. Thanks!

  20. Definitely. :noey: That's what I'm doing

Tomorrow's episode looks so good! I have high hopes for it. There is some intense stuff in it based on what I found when I caught them filming ;). And it's by Ben Edlund :awesome:

  21. Hey I was just really wordy!

Exactly. And yeah, very lazy writing.

I feel like the reaper not being able to send Sam straight to Hell was an excuse to get him to Purgatory. And Sam in Purgatory was an excuse to get Benny involved, so that he could get easily written out. :noey:. I agree he's probably not dead. I really want him to come back.

I just can't believe how much damage one episode did to the whole series. :noey:

  22. LUCKY YOU! :awesome: That's amazing news! So that'll make it three times this tour! Have fun!

That is good to see! I'm glad they've got good people in for now; I'm sure the team'll be well off when the healthy players come back.

First pre-season game for the Lions is June 14! :awesome:

Hmm, that's interesting because my school starts September 3 so our school year is definitely shorter than yours. Not sure about differences in breaks though. My brother got into the same university as me

I'm sorry I've been so slow at replying! I'm finally off exams now so no more studying! Yes, that Saturday exam was my hardest... it was okay. I'm sure it'll get scaled. I've gotten two marks back so far and I'm happy so far! Are you into exams right now? If you are, good luck with your studying!!!

I'm just working at the bakery again; not too interesting! :chuckle:. No vacations planned. My only plan other than that is the Supernatural convention at the end of August :awesome:

  23. Okay :chuckle:

YES! Please leave a rant! That one was one of my least favourite episode of all time!

Don't read my rant until you've said yours; just let it all out

First, rogue reapers? As though Death, whose all about the natural order of things, would let any reapers of his go rogue. And you're not supposed to be able to see reapers unless you're dead. AND somehow Crowley was able to kill the reaper with an angel blade (is there anything it can't kill? Those blades are becoming way too all-in-one)? Killing a reaper isn't that easy, remember season 4 and how it was one of the 66 seals? And everyone in the town stopped dying when the reaper was killed. http://www.thehomeplanet.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/dyndbn.gif

And seriously, now that we know about rogue reapers what was the point of season 6? How Crowley and Cas had to go to all the trouble of finding a way to open Purgatory. And what was the point of Naomi needing all those angels to bust Cas out of Purgatory when she could've just hitched a ride with a reaper? It's ridiculous how easy it is to just traverse between Purgatory and Hell now.

    http://www.thehomeplanet.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/tumblr_mkqg8bs6iu1r38w2ko2_500.gif

    http://www.thehomeplanet.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/tumblr_mkqg8bs6iu1r38w2ko1_500.gif

And Hell. Wow. Sam was able to find the door to Hell in seconds. And then Hell itself... they made it into a tame little haunted house. I almost laughed while I was watching. And despite the fact that Hell is probably immensely huge Sam found Bobby's cage (UNLOCKED) after just a bit of walking. Could it have been any easier? Whatever happened to the Hell from Dean's time there? What I loved about that Hell was that it was obviously horrible and awful but they didn't show much of it. They left it bleak on purpose so that you, the viewer, could fill in what it really looks like yourself. But not here; I'd say Hell is a joke now. And Bobby seemed to be pretty alright for having spent over a century there now.

So Sam comes back and it's time for the Reaper to pick him out. What about the way that time passes differently in Hell? More continuity issues. And then Dean, who's been downgraded to sitting around, cooking and worrying about poor Sam (seriously, how many episodes now is this all he's doing?) phones Benny and asks him that huge favour, seriously? "Hey dude, I know I broke up our friendship a while ago but can I kill you and send you back to the place we spent so long trying to get out of, so you can save the guy who hates your guts?" Even, Dean could've asked Benny to turn him into a vampire, send him to Purgatory, and Dean could've saved Sam, he wouldn't have had to ask so much of Benny. Then with a bit of Benny's blood he would've been cured from being a vampire. (I don't know, just an idea). And LOL Dean killed Benny right in, like, an alley way in the daytime. And no-one saw Dean cut off a guy's head? Ha! And of course Benny turns up right were Sam and Bobby are. Of course! And they killed Benny off! That made me so mad! Then Dean drives 1500 miles immediately to the place where Sam pops up, at the exact right time...

Those writers should be fired. Almost all the episodes they've put out have been crap. Of course that won't happen though seeing as one of them is Singer's wife .

Only scenes I liked were the Dean/Benny scene and the Dean/Naomi scene.

I could go on. Just wow, this episode took 8 1/2 seasons of continuity/canon and flushed it down the toilet, made Purgatory and Hell jokes, totally cheapened Dean's story of being in Purgatory at the beginning of the season, killed off one of my favourite characters to come out of this season...

  24. Hmm I see! Still haven't gotten around to catching up... but finally I'm done all my finals. So I've got time.

I really enjoyed the last Supernatural episode! Next three look good. This season has gone by really quickly.

    How've you been?

  25. I would freak out too if they played that! Yeah. Awesome! :awesome:

That's good to hear. Yeah, they've got plenty of games left :awesome:.

I wish football season was on now XD. Also, I just found out that the Grey Cup will be back in Vancouver next year. It'll be my brother's turn to go to it since I went last time but it's still quite exciting! It'd be amazing if the Lions can make it for the second time at home in a row.

That's quite a bit more time! I forgot, when does school start for you? Maybe you start after I do which is why I finish earlier? I don't know.

Glad to hear you've been doing well though! Yeah teachers like to squeeze in every last bit of homework and project they can in the last month unfortunately. At least you can count down the weeks now! My first exam is on Saturday, which is for physics. I'm not feeling great about it but I've been studying a lot; I'm sure it'll be okay in the end. I haven't thought too much about my later ones because I'm just focusing on physics for now :chuckle:.
