  1. I'm having a similar problem! I'm trying to login and it boots me back to the login page. Unable to access my account.

So unfortunately I don't know a fix, but if it's affecting a lot (or all) people hopefully it will be fixed soon.

My first post in 4 years, blimey. Here goes:

Having gone through the entire discography over the weekend, I think that right now that as an album, WoTP is comfortably better than anything else since BH&R.

Firstly, it’s coherent.  It avoids the big issue TR and T2L have of whacking a big multipart suite at the end of the album which seems to have nothing to do with the songs that just came before. Sure, it’s like T2L in that it’s a genre mishmash, but so is BH&R, and probably because Matt’s lyrics are vague enough, it doesn’t matter to me.

Secondly, it’s paced nicely. T2L, Drones and ST all have mid/late sections which are clearly less strong than the start of the album (and the end), such as  Explorers > Liquid State and SH > Dig Down… but WoTP mixes up its fast, heavy and “commercial” tracks so there’s never really a clear point after which I’m going “ugh, strap in for these songs”.

Third, it’s “lows” are nowhere near as annoying, skippable or straight up out-of-place as the bad stuff elsewhere. I think the worst song is Compliance, and that is still miles better than IBTY (not a terrible song, but sooo jarring on TR), Big Freeze, Save Me, Mercy (the lyrics…), Revolt, Aftermath, Get Up and Fight, Dig Down (OG version) and Something Human.

Finally, not only is there Heavy Stuff, but it’s mixed so that it actually sounds heavy. TR and T2L killed their heavy songs with their production and ST didn’t really have any nasty songs. This has 3 excluding the title track, they’re spread out, and they kick hard.

I have this album as an 8 out of 10. Faves are KoBK, Verona, and WaFF, but Liberation and WsD are guilty pleasures as a 2-parter. The band sound happy and comfortable in their skin. I’m comfortable with New Muse now too I guess - accepting we’re never ever getting another Origin-tier release, but that I can enjoy this stuff anyway.

really well said (and welcome back)! I totally agree about the pacing and the "lows" not being nearly as bad.

Origin is still my favourite, and I imagine it'll never get topped. But I'm very happy with this latest outing.

  3. Okay, here are my thoughts 10+ full listens later:

    1. Verona (10/10) - I don't care that it's cheesy, because something about it just hits me like very few songs do. It's beautiful, and feels like I'm floating through space, just taking in the universe, and living.

    2. You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween (10/10) - By far the catchiest, and most fun songs in recent memory.

    3. Ghosts (10/10) - Still beautiful, poignant, and genuinely emotional to me.

    4. Kill or Be Killed (9.5/10) - One of the best heavy songs Muse have done. Should be a great concert staple that is even better live.

    5. Liberation (9/10) - Wish it was a bit longer, but I'm a sucker for piano and over-the-topness.

    6. Euphoria (8.5/10) - Pretty fun and catchy pop, and paced really well. Kinda reminds me of Revolt and Get Up and Fight, but a lot better.

    7. Won't Stand Down (8.5/10) - Another good heavy addition, though a bit too repetitive.

    8. We Are Fucking Fucked (8/10) - I love most of it, but (and I get this is an unpopular opinion) if the repetition of "we are fucking/getting fucked" was just taken out or replaced, it would be more like a 9 or 9.5/10 for me.

    9. Will of the People (7.5/10) - Solid album opener that contines to grow on me with each listen, but it doesn't stand out.

    10. Compliance (7/10) - It also continues to grow on me, it's got its catchy moments, and it's not bad, but Muse have done way better pop songs.

Overall: 9/10. I love the album as a whole, and it's a lot more consistent than most of their other albums for me. It's got fantastic highs, and even its lows aren't actually bad! The first four on this list easily rank among my all-time favourite Muse songs, and I was not expecting that.

  4. I think this is my favourite album since BH&R. Didn't have the urge to have the last albums on repeat as much as this one, and it's got some real highlights. The highs definitely outweigh the lows.

    Top tracks (no particular order):

Verona: Maybe my favourite off the album. Yes, it's kinda cheesy, but something about it feels so... freeing? Celebratory? Ethereal? I get hit by a lot of feelings here.

Ghosts: Seems people either love or hate this one, but I'm firmly on the "love" side. Relatively simple piano ballad, but genuinely emotional, and Matt's voice sounds incredible here. I think it's beautiful.

You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween: Straight up so much fun. Really entertaining and creative, and the guitar solo is a cherry on top.

Kill or Be Killed: Obviously! Makes me wish for more metal Muse, and had the guitar solo Won't Stand Down really needed. Should be a staple at concerts from now on.

Even the ones I've been more tentative about for being too repetitive (Will of the People, Won't Stand Down, Compliance) are growing on me.

Any ideas how the setlist will look like? Matt said in a recent interview, they will play a lot from the new album.

    Hmm no idea

I would think the "intimate" shows are a great reason to play some lesser-played fan favourites like CE or Dead Star since it should be just die-hard fans in attendance... in the big NA tour shows they mostly play their most broadly popular and highest charting songs, but I want my rarities 🙃

I could understand why they'd want to hype the new album, but I'm personally hoping it's not mostly that because I'm not sure if there's enough time to be acquainted with the songs. Or if I'll like them yet lol

  6. I believe it's intentional, so no worries about your DVD being damaged. I don't have my copy on hand, but I remember my version went into greyscale for some tracks.

Animals is all in greyscale, though there are a few shots of money bills that are the only "in-colour" things in the frame.

  7. Nice! I'm happy to have gotten some too. Never seen them in a smaller setting before.

No idea if this is correct but for smaller/more intimate shows, I wonder if they'll bring out some rarities instead of the standard big US hits.

The Beacon Theatre doesn't really have any bad spots for seats, so I am happy with my Upper Balcony seats. Plus I am sure the sound will be great!

Do you have experience at The Beacon? I'm a little worried my Loge 1 tickets will have some overhang from the balcony above so the view will be obstructed. Not the end of the world because such a small show will be a great experience either way, and I'm sure the sound will be great.

Most of the floor tickets were gone in a blink. I tried five times to grab some in the back orchestra without luck. Settled for upper loge, which are not as bad. It will be a great show!

I'm also in the loge at Beacon Theatre! Congrats on snagging some tickets. I hope the seats aren't too bad. Those orchestra seats were gone in a flash. There were a few available when I got out of the queue, but unfortunately none together (I convinced my partner to come, so needed to find 2 seats)

As for prices, for those wondering, if I remember right they were something like ~$90 and $125 before TM fees. Two tickets in the log ($125) were about $300 after fees.

My account should be old enough, and I can’t find it anywhere 😭

    Oh noo!

Did you click on the "Members" tab twice? Sometimes the first time I click it, it brings me to page with the age of my account, and I need to click it a second time to get to the presale page (the banner at the top should say "Welcome Back")

I was under the impression that for the NA tour we didn’t need to pre order, we just had to have created a member profile before a certain date. Am I wrong?

Yep that's correct for NA. It should be visible on each person's Members page by now (assuming the account is old enough)

  12. I'm gonna try to snag two tickets to the New York show. Anticipating it'll be a challenge, but at least I have the presale.

I've never been to New York but I'm a short and cheap flight away... maybe I'll make a weekend visit out of it.

good luck everyone trying to get tickets!

  13. On the one hand, LOVED the metal parts! Feelings haven't changed on that front since hearing the sneak peak.

On the other, it was a biiiiit repetitive and there wasn't anything new that we didn't already hear in the snippet lol

Biggest question is what does this mean for the rest of the album? Will it be more pop/metal hybrids or is this a red herring like Unsustainable's dubstep was for 2nd Law?

  14. I LOVE Bridge Over Troubled Waters 😭

Take a Bow is a lot of fun!

Pray sounds a lot better than the previous release

I've always unironically loved Guiding Light so honestly I'm all over this cover 👌

Simulation Theory Theme could easily be the theme for a Mass Effect game (one of my favourite game series) - love the feel

Fever's alright, not really my kind of thing

Unintended lullaby is super sweet and precious

Are they doing anything about Micro Cuts yet?

I think it's been fixed on Spotify. Sounds like it to me, or maybe I'm overthinking it. Someone on a reddit thread also mentioned it was fixed on Spotify.

  16. First listen now:

New Born: Not sure how to feel about this one. The snare is too loud. It does sound cleaner, but it makes it feel emptier to me. Also am I crazy or is the bass slightly out of time?

Bliss: Doesn't sound much different (which they implied already given this was a single), other than Matt's vocals being a bit more at the forefront and it being a bit cleaner. Overall, improved.

Space Dementia: Interesting new touch to the piano intro, sounds a bit more sci-fi. Halfway through now, and holy CRAP the strings are an incredible addition! This mix really captures the feel of a grand, epic space odyssey. Big improvement here, I love it.

Hyper Music: Awesome! Angrier, more hardcore, explosive... love the screaming throughout, and now in the climax too - great addition.

Plug in Baby: Not sounding too different so far (another single), but it was a classic on the original so that's fine.

Citizen Erased: Already commented on this one, but I love this version. I wasn't as bothered by the drums here as I was in New Born for some reason. I do miss the sirens at the end, especially with the lead in to Micro Cuts, but the new strings bring in a whole new colour. I'm torn between preferring the original - which is my favourite song of all time - and the new version... but I might prefer the remix. Might.

Micro Cuts: Did the song start a half beat late? Also, whoa, they weren't kidding when they said there was now harpsichord. Not yet sold on the new vocals throughout the song. The mix sounds a bit uneven at the end, and it's a shame they seem to have cut the panning. Honestly I can't help but think of Halloween/haunted houses with the additions. I prefer the original here.

Screenager: Another one that doesn't sound too different. I love the original and everything I love about it is still here, but cleaner, so overall this is improved for me.

Darkshines: The bass comes through really nicely here. LOVE the change to the guitar after the hook. Definitely prefer this version over the original.

Feeling Good: Love the new strings. The extra fuzz on the bass is great. My only complaint would be that Matt's vocals seem to have been turned down right near the climax and lost. It's a shame, because it's a great scream.

    Futurism: Love this. Super clear

Megalomania: Already commented on this one too, but it's fantastic. The intro is so much cleaner, the strings are simply FANTASTIC, and the organ is so much punchier. However, I think the final chord is less powerful than the original, since it sounds like it's just the organ now. The original had other instruments contributing to this huge wall of sound, plus rolling drums adding a bit of flavour, and those are missing. The rest of the song is definitely better though.
