Monty Jam is by far their best jam imo. It's atmospheric, fairly unique sounding (for Muse) and feels like an actual interlude between songs, as opposed to the others which feel like pointless, generic wankery that the band are enjoying a lot more than the audience.
Also, it's short and doesn't feel like it's taking up set space. The new one really drags and all the way through I'm thinking "They could easily get rid of this and MWAH and play another actual song or two".
100% agree with this.

It was quite decent at Emirates 1, but I can live without Matt going "wooooaaaahhhh" over the intro like he did on T2L tour. I maintain it would be better if it just went straight from the verse to the chorus, or at least made the "it could be wrong, could be wrong" bit actually sound like the rest of the song.
That's been the problem with Resistance from the moment we all first heard it.

The Quietus review reads like it's been written by an eight year old who's just watched too many episodes of The Thick Of It. Absolutely no idea what it's trying to say beyond vague (sweary and intense, but vague somehow) dislike.
I'm curious to see who actually finds this sort of thing funny; there must be someone out there.

Psycho
The Handler
Interlude + Hysteria
Micro Cuts
Citizen Erased
So, Matt, about that 'unique' Download setlist...
oi, don't complain
-
It's pretty funny when Chris is still doing the backing vocals to a non-existent lead, though.
-
By breakdown do you mean the recap of the opening riff section between the second chorus and the solo?
-
He sounded out of breath to me, not like the mic was turned off
Nah it got shut off halfway through then got turned back on, it's too abrupt to be anything else.

What the hell happened at the start of AP

Full show from Moscow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20aW3P4YYnA
His vocals have definitely improved over the last shows. Haven't listened to all but The Handler, Micro Cuts and especially the ending of Plug in Baby sounds great. And dat intro to Micro Cuts :awesome:
Edit: Also probably the best ending of Dead Inside he has done so far.
Yeah ever since Pinkpop they've been solid, even excellent at times.
EDIT: Haha, so I was right about that vocal bit after the choruses in The Handler, then. Really weird that they were cutting off his mic for that bit...
-
I really feel like he does try it.
Also, that was one of the best things I've ever seen.

Even more convinced now that he tries it after the second (edit: not first) chorus, but his mic is muted just as he gets into it.
EDIT: And I think he might have tried it after the last chorus at Download too
I see why some people might have been getting confused though, no idea why I said "first verse" back there. Second chorus.

I liked it tbh, especially during the chorus. Made it feel more...heavenly? I dunno.
The 'siren' bit during the outro sounds a bit annoying from what I've heard in recording, couldn't actually hear that when I was there though. Overall, best CE I've seen by quite a way I think.
Which bit are you on about? I'm confused
The falsetto after the chorus which he doesn't do live.
It's probably nothing tbh.
-
I think you might be hearing some audience noise there
Yeah but he looks like he's singing something...
-
Jesus. Again, dat falsetto at the end.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViK62lFA470
But I hope he will do the full falsetto part.
Am I going mad or is he actually doing it after the first verse, but his mic is cutting off? Perhaps he's still "practicing" it.
-
This is another recording, also very good (if less beefy) audio. Includes CE.
-
That falsetto <3

I think it worked better at Manchester Academy, hard to find a decent video of it to show that though.
Dee said that as well, I'm not really noticing it though. Sounded great imo anyway, better than the other two times I saw it.
They were Certainly in the general area where I was anyway.
Slowness is probably to do with the tempo compared to the songs immediately before it rather than it being actually played slowly. All I can think of, anyway.

"My heeeeeart" (mind, mind)
that's great

Very well chuffed that it went down well. Very reassuring to know they've still got it in them to draw in any naysayers. Kind of reminds me of Glastonbury when they headlined their first festival and then became a staple headline act after that, Very pleasantly surprised that the likes of Dead Inside and Mercy got a warm reception apparently. Still in the interest of being picky those songs could have been dropped in favour of something like Futurism, Fury, Assassin etc. I did think we were getting an all heavy set but Muse did what was required of them a that's awesome
They're not dropping the two singles from the album they're actually touring for B-sides.
-
There was also this festival where all of a certain album was played...
Two festivals, in fact.
-
Ooh, that's nice. Like that.
-
Is there an actual reasonable Muse fan who exists and breathes who wouldn't be happy with that setlist, tbf?
-
Damn, the SMBH vocals actually sounded really cool.
Where'd you hear them?
-
Come on, how much of a life can you have if you're posting on the Muse fan club forum about how upset you are that they're playing rare songs, as they happen.
Seems like that time would be better spent actually being there and enjoying it over this.
yes because taking an entire day at a minimum off work/school/w/e to go to a festival is entirely equivalent to having a forum open for two hours.
breathtaking a+ logic.
