  1. I would rather buy an xp-100 from ebay, at least I know what to dick about with and make it tru-bypass, chuck in flashed eproms and generally mess about with the code without worrying about wiping $450 if I don't like it.

I gave your girlfriend necrotic herpes, It cost me nothing except an itchy cock afterwards and still works really well.
  3. Springs in your pup covers? I had a problem on my SG like that and I chucked some foam in there and it stopped, or sometimes its the strings behind the bridge. Either way I want a picture you sexy bastard.

Whats purpleheart like to work with? Does it finish flawlessly under laquer? I started to use swamp ash for a few bits and pieces like laminated handles (I have a thing for hi-grade plywood atm). I decided to take apart my steam bending rig in my workshop so I can concentrate on helping chuck out a few bits of furniture for cheapo presents. goddamn I hate christmas

Won't the stress of mounting the bridge crack anything on the inside of the bridge (facing the neck) due to compression?

I guess you are doing the smart thing of levelling the fretboard after you've done all the fiddly bits. I think I would have chosen a contrasting colour for the inlays But then again the bone etc.. should show up under uv

erm well you already have the clamps, try and get hold of some 6mm sheets in a straight cut and get a modified kettle with a metal pipe going into a box with rags at either end to pipe the steam into the box. the rags hold the steam in while you chuck wood in and out. clamp the first side, then gently bend the work piece over the former and then clamp up. I have a rig which i built for furniture which i made for about £40 and does quite large pieces, Give it a go with some shitty pine first to get your eye in, and also wear gloves

Hey hoog want some material on steam bending, i think it might be better in the long term than routing out massive cuts for chambers?
  11. I would also like to add to this excellent advice if I may. Learning the tools and processes are probably the most important thing for quality control. Knowing what things can drift when you are into a cut are paramount to the success of any project. Now I've done some high-end shit, for super-yachts and now buildings, knowing every time I even sketch something, I have to make it work first time, every time. In my profession fuck ups like this can not occur or your career is over. I welcome second chances, and attribute this to you being young and overzealous. But only embark on a project where quality, fit and finish can be sold as a quantifiable product, if you can deliver these things. That takes dedication, passion and knowledge of your materials, tools and processes.
  12. I always get a ton more beef with my tokai 3 pup sg when in the middle position, its the neck and middle pup out of phase. Saying that they are paf's but it would be interesting to see if those dual p90's are wired in parallel or out of phase depending if they are hotly wound etc...
  13. ZR tremolo bridges are free floating in the sense of instead of having to balance on knife edges and deal with the resistance of a sharpened point grinding against a post, they are bearing's fixed on the outer shell with the inner shaft attached so the bridge, so it is truly free floating. If I were right handed It would be a standard on my tremolo guitars. sadly I only have 2 tremolo guitars of the floyd rose descent, one a prestige ibanez and the other another prestige ibanez. Both of which sorely need ZR bridges. Do your research James, do your research. Also I am drunk. Its awesome.
