I'm probably talking shit here, but if they transposed it down to Drop D (if you even can change it to that) or even Drop C then I think it would sound better live, and Matt probably wouldn't find it so hard to sing, he seems to have been struggling lately. But yeah I agree, the guitar has never sounded as beefy live as it does on the album. Although, I think there were at least three guitars in the album recording, which explains a lot.

Yeah, you're definitely right imho, I hadn't seen that performance before, but that's the best version of TIRO I've ever seen.

Well, what happens a lot with broadcasted performances is that they're edited after it's been aired, and this may have been the case here, especially with the two different versions of Bliss from the same show that that version of Hysteria was played.

Oh I know Ruins the performance a bit, for me. That said, unless I've actually been at the gig, I haven't enjoyed a TIRO performace since, well, 2004, oddly enough. Not including Glasto 2010, which was great.

I think one of the oldies mentioned it in another thread. It was basically things like, instead of Chris playing the TIRO bassline properly, he'd just play the clean part while they used the distorted stuff from the album as backing etc. And yeah, that's what I thought about the Live 8 stuff too.

No, I think it's the vocoder-y backing. I should hope so anyway! Although it was known that during the absolution tour they were using a lot of backing tracks and such, and it was only after pressure from fans that they stopped doing it.

I don't know, one of them just seems to be edited. Perhaps the people doing the TV broadcast overdubbed parts of the performance or something. I expect that Muse were actually playing live.

Wow, you're right actually, that does look like playback, especially at the beginning and the riff before the solo, like you said. And I see what you mean about Bliss too, it's odd. There's definitely something funny going on there, haha.

I don't think so, it was probably just lag on the video uploaders' part. I'm pretty sure Bliss wasn't, it was different in a multitude of ways to the album version, it even had the falsetto But I'll have a look at Hysteria.

Maybe some from OoS, but I wouldn't expect much, if any from Showbiz. I think the few songs that ever got played at gigs that were from Showbiz are about to become very few and far between.

Yeah, without the bridge, US would be nowhere near as good as it is live, although it is a bit tedious on the album.

He pretty much was. And although I disagree, as I like his Showbiz-era voice, on Sober it is kinda horrible.

You went to the second night as well though, didn't you? If so you also got one of the best shows of the tour, if not the best.

You just.... don't really like Muse at all, do you? Although the pretentious part is probably right, but at least Matt knows he is.

I think HAARP gets a lot more flak because the CD kinda sucks, especially due to the mixing, but imho the DVD is great.

I can't do the verses in SFA, but CoD is the most fun song to sing ever. No. It isn't. Not live anyway. Obviously said by people who didn't see it live. Nah, I'm joking. You probably have. It's just like blackout, but worse, and with more backing really. I thought it worked pretty well though, myself.

Yeah, it's just within my range. Chest voice is fine for me, but I can't do falsetto in tune, meaning most of Muse's songs aren't possible.

I can see where you're coming from, but I kinda like Exo-Politics. Probably because it's one of the few Muse songs I can actually sing.

No, the verses are weak, and the words are kinda meaningless. It's also really quite repetitive, and wasn't much cop live last tour. On the subject of BHaR, I really like the album. It's a shame they don't play most of it live anymore. Hoodoo has some of the strongest lyrics Matt has written, as does CoD, and in terms of the instrumentals both are amazing. TaB, SMBH, MoTP and KoC are all great, it goes without saying, and I've got a soft spot for Starlight myself. The only thing that lets down the album for me is the broken version of Assassin, as well as Exo-Politics seeming dull at times.

What song would you most like Muse to do a cover of?
Banksy. replied to Kodack's topic in Songs & Releases
Cochise by Audioslave anyone? Morello riffs with vocals that Matt could pull off, and an epic bassline? I think it'd be great.- 2,297 replies

I agree, I love the chord progression in Endlessly, and it's definitely one of their better slower songs. It's a bit of a departure too, it has a bit of a 'club' feel.
