  2. How do you know Matt hasn't mentioned it? Do you live with him and know everything he says? I'm sure he's mentioned it to at least a couple people (at least Kimbra and Rich Costey and other people involved in the making of the song) because it's not like it is a secret or anything
  3. Well yes that is true. Everything in the song could be created by Matt's guitar through MIDI and whatnot (though I think there are a lot of synths not produced by Matt's guitar) but you have to admit some of the screeching/distorted sounds do sound somewhat like they could be guitar and I doubt Matt would put his name on something if the choruses were really the only guitar work he did in the song.
  4. Well Matt has shown through things like Unsustainable that he is more than capable of making his guitar not sound like a guitar. It would be so cool to see a "making of" video of this song and to hear some of the all parts isolated from each other and deconstructed.
  5. Maybe you don't have to "get" music but imo it enriches the experience when you have a greater understanding of what is going on. For example, while to some people this piece of music might sound like weird random noises, if you look at the score you can see how everything really is mapped out purposefully. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HilGthRhwP8 Though I also think not all music does have deep meaning for how everything in the piece was chosen, and yes music can be over-analyzed. But for this particular song the way I see it is like as a collage of sounds in the same way there can be a collage in visual arts. And I don't think the sounds were placed in the song 100% randomly. Sure some of the decisions may have been arbitrary but they were purposeful arbitrary decisions if that makes any sense... Also here's the official audio that was just put up recently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbBIhNe3e5s
  6. This is actually the least aggressive and most rational/accepting post out of everyone's so that's cool. While the genres they discuss are MUCH more challenging and experimental ("90's music" sounds very normal to my ears compared to some of the stuff I listen to) you guys should check out this video. This kinda sums up some of the stuff I wanted to say but couldn't articulate it nearly as well as they did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niyLKbA2_Xs
  7. I'm okay, a bit bored. I'm honestly surprised the mods haven't dropped by this thread yet.
  8. Here is some more terrible, bad music for you guys to listen to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wgA9L5TN5M
  9. This is both the best and worst thread ever at the same time You're a step behind. We were at the point of mockery starting from the last 2 or 3 pages
  10. Oh look I can imitate and make fun of you guys too I hate Muse, they are the worst band in the world yet I still love to post on this forum
  11. You have absolutely no right to say his work does not have any artistic merit at all. That is extremely ignorant and narrow minded of you.
  12. No one in this thread (including myself) is making sense anymore. I'm just glad I could expose Musers to free jazz and Mark Rothko.
  13. If the song doesn't work for people that's totally okay. It's just so rude/ignorant for people to go "ughhh this song is shit" "this song is stupid. it's just random noises" "this song makes me want to throw up, etc."
  14. It's just what people are saying and thinking (and I'm sure it's not just those two) is comparable to looking at a Rothko painting and saying "Wow that's just two colored rectangles on top of each other. This piece of art sucks."
