-As fun as the Vader scene was, it did feel like fan service that was tacked on. And boy, did this movie have a lot of fan service in it.

-I will praise some of the action but only to a certain extent. The final battle had some good sequences Gareth Edwards showed off his sense of scale when the AT-ATs first showed up. Despite that, I was not connected to the characters so the battle was not as affecting as it could have been. However, the city battle in Non-Tatooine had horrific editing. I found it difficult to tell what was happening in that city battle. Also, they need to stop doing faux-Tatooine planets, give us something different.

-The biggest flaw that I had was that Krennic was an extremely weak villain. He actually gives Joker from Suicide Squad a run for his money. He accomplished nothing in the film and is nothing more than a minor inconvenience at the end of the film.

-Since you brought up Saw, I do have to agree he was way too over the top. I actually found it hard to take it seriously. For a film that was trying to be gritty, I found it a bit silly.

-I did not mind Vader's quips in the film since he was a bit sassy in the original trilogy as well. Also, you have to admit that was a nice pun.:p

-I fully agree about the main cast of characters being extremely forgettable and boring. Have to admit, that I found K-2SO to be my fav character by the third act since everyone else was dull as dish water.

-You mentioned lazy scenes and I have one in particular that annoys me. The rebellion betrays and basically uses Jyn to kill her father(and almost her as well) and then a few hours later she's giving a rousing speech to the same rebellion. She completely forgets about what the rebellion did to her a few hours earlier.

-I did not mind the lack of a Star Wars crawl since it was trying to be its own thing, for better or worse.

I'll think of more later. There's bound to be some grammatical errors in there due to the rambling.:chuckle:

Been experimenting with different teams on Pokemon Showdown and I still keep getting wrecked.:noey:

The other day there was a binge marathon for the new show Search Party that I started watching halfway through and I ended up loving it.

  2.

Also agree with what you're saying about the message becoming unimportant all of a sudden.

Yeah, K2SO's deadpan delivery could be viewed as tiresome but I didn't mind that much since the other characters were so dull. The blind monk and his friend were alright but I do wish that their death scenes had carried more emotional weight. I'm a self-proclaimed action fan and I've never seen IP Man.:shifty:

I also forgot to mention one of the most bothersome scenes in the film and that was the tentacle scene. It was jarring and silly that it took me out of the film.

Nah, it's Gen 3 and it's so-so now. I've made a decent team after experimenting around and I have to say Choice Band Slaking is a beast if used correctly.

My friend is actually trying to get me into watching Game of Thrones but I have to admit that the number of episodes is quite daunting.

I'm actually one of the few people on here who loves Nosedive. Yeah, it doesn't do much with its themes but I had a blast watching it. I'm a sucker for black comedies and road trips filled with wacky misadventures. I would try to stay true to myself or I think I would. Who knows, maybe in five years when that becomes our reality.:chuckle:

Playtest was actually my least favorite of the new season.:shifty: I thought it was bland and boring. I could tell where it was going and the over-acting wasn't doing it any favors. I will admit that I did feel sorry for the guy and he really should not have turned on his phone. Throughout the episode, I kept thinking of the CEO as an evil Hideo Kojima, not sure if you know him.

It's a toss up between Shut Up and Hated for my favorite of the new season. It was a properly bleak episode and delivered everything that I wanted from a Black Mirror episode, including the twist at the end. I don't know, back in my younger years I may have gotten a virus or two from doing the same thing. It happens when you're young alright.:phu:

Yeah I agree with you on San Junipero. Not to mention that it takes quite a while to get going. Even though I didn't love this episode, I have to admit that the scene when she sees Yorkie in real life was really well done. They really should have delved deeper into the philosophical aspects of it. It also bugged me how Kelly eventually went back to Yorkie in the end. She honestly had no reason to. Yorkie insulted her dead husband and gave Kelly no reason to stay behind it.

Shame on you.:noey: Men Against Fire was predictable but I really liked the way it was handled. The execution helped it's predictable plot. Hated in the Nation is an interesting procedural that eventually hits in you the gut so be prepared.

    So for me it's

Shut Up and Dance/Hated in the Nation

    Nosedive

    San Junipero

    Men Against Fire

    Playtest

I've actually heard that the second season of The 100 is fantastic stuff and that it overcome it's corniness rather quickly. Glad to hear that you're enjoying it.

  3.

Balthazar was a funny guy, hate that he had to die. Also he does look a lot like Gordon. That was one of the best episodes of Supernatural. Misha was so funny in it.

Didn't like that Bobby and Cas had to die. At least we have Lucifer back. So what do you think of season seven? Can't say that I'm liking it, the leviathans are boring villains.

    Good to hear.:yesey: Thanks.

It's a male chihuahua puppy that looks nothing like a chihuahua.:chuckle: I actually have two at the moment, the other male dog died last year.:( He had leg problems and had to be put down.

  4.

Bobby should have gone out in a bigger way. There's not that many great supporting characters left now either.

It would be an easy way of bringing Bobby back. Well Gordon was a fun character to hate and easily puts Dick to shame. Yeah it definitely needs more rock. Wonder if it was because of Sera Gamble that there isn't that much rock music anymore.

Same here, hoping it gets better without her.

Becoming quite the fan of Jeremy? :p

  5.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Yeah, her being a puppy made it so much worse but at least you were prepared. But it does give the film the emotional drive that it needs.

The scene with Jimmy was hilarious and this film does have some black comedy in it. You'll be pleased to see who returns in the sequel. I wish Perkins had survived to be a recurring villain in the series, her fight scene with John was great.

The action was staged perfectly and Keanu is a beast for how old he is. Hopefully the third one is the last one so he doesn't have to keep doing this when hes 60.

I could reveal whether the dog survives the second one. Oh and I loved the second film.

No problem and its good to hear that it went well. If I were to get Litten I would probably call it Brock Lesnar.:chuckle:

Oh, I didn't know about Julian being Alchemy was from the comics.:$ I've lost my superhero geek card.

  6.

I didn't like that Bobby's death felt anticlimatic. That's how it felt to me, it should have been done better. Bobby was a fantastic character, going to miss him. Season finale was pretty weak too.

One thing that I'm hoping they do for next season is bring back some of the monsters that Sam and Dean have killed. Dean and Cas are in the place that they go once they die, so maybe we'll see some of them again. Maybe like Gordon, the werewolf chick, and maybe even Bobby since ghosts are monsters. It would be a shame if they miss that opportunity. And yeah I do want Gordon back.:shifty:

Yeah you can take it slowly now.:chuckle:

Hawkeye was in Thor. It would be great to have Coulson around still.

That is pretty dumb though, why would you have a button to release all of the monsters? Same thing happened to me, there was only like three other people in the theater too.

  7.

I doubt the archangels will come back. They've lost their rings and their power. Then again, you never know. Death was great and the actor did a good job playing him. I liked the Famine episode, even though it was nasty in some parts like Cas eating raw meat.

There was a lot of hints that Chuck was God but yet again we don't know for sure.

None of the actors have been nominated by the Emmys which is a true shame, they've given some great performances.

Patience is a virtue.:p Yeah good idea to see how studying goes. What's the Friday exam on?

  8.

I hadn't thought about that. Naomi could be manipulating him. That would make a great twist.

Yeah, they should have kept an eye on her. It was pretty funny seeing him shop for Dean.:chuckle:

    Two more days.:awesome:

Ah I see.:chuckle: Yeah it would have been a bit awkward too.

I liked the subplot with the kid more than I thought I would.

The first one is still my favorite one but it was a great film. Haha I see, that's okay. I'm a big movie geek.:chuckle: Hearing great things about the new Star Trek film. Also have to say that Bones is my favorite character.

  9.

I think that's one of the reasons why I enjoy the earlier season more. I loved the bond that Bobby had with both of them and it was great to watch. I don't know, it just bothers me a bit that Chuck would sit back and let that happen. I know that's his philosophy but he would have a breaking point as well.

I can understand your point about the theme of the show being family. At least it's far more subtle than the Fast & Furious films where they say family every five minutes.:chuckle: And yeah, I agree that it is better than defeating the big bad villain like they've numerous times already. It does raise questions about what the other Men of Letters factions were doing while all the big stuff was going down. Lucifer sticking around does contradict what they've said about scaling things down. I really do hope that they don't waste him next season.

The gag reel was fantastic. I used to post the SDCC gag reel every year in the Supernatural thread.:shifty:

I'll keep my eye out for it. That's good to hear that they're prep time to end things properly. You'll like it. It's got suspense, action, drama, excellent acting and awesomely bad wigs. You'll see what I mean about the wigs. Glad to hear that you enjoyed Lucifer and yeah don't mind the critics. Start shopping for that incognito costume.:p What do you think of Preacher? I really enjoyed the first seasons. There was some downtime in certain episodes but overall I really enjoyed it. Certain things about the season finale seem to polarized some fans from what I've read. Oh and Cassidy really is the best thing about the show, even if I can't understand him about 30% of the time.

Probably a combination of both and I'm guessing that the reception to SS and BVS is going to make them interfere more in Justice League and Wonder Woman. Endless cycle.:noey:

    Just found about this today.

  10.

I'll agree that Jeremy Renner could have had more to do in the film. However, I do think that he does serve his purpose in the journey of Amy Adams character.

They probably did all of that in a montage in order to be time efficient.

The soldiers were probably acting out of fear and wanted to eliminate the threat that they viewed as dangerous before it eliminated them, from their pov. Also, they showed the rogue soldiers talking to their families and their well beings helped push onto that path.

Haha yeah, it's a fun show. Curious about checking Iron Fist but I've heard from numerous people that its pretty dull.

I think we have talked about this before. I'm just excited for it because of the director and judging from the trailer, it does look like a Wingard film. And I have seen numerous people talking about it negatively because of the "whitewashing". Glad to hear that you're also excited for it. If there were to be one thing that would make me nervous, it would be that he's not working with Simon Barrett(screenwriter for his other films) on this film. Nevertheless, I am still looking forward it and I will be able to watch in the comfort of my home without annoying moviegoers. Then again, moviegoers around me this year have been extremely tame.:chuckle: Also, if it does turn out to be bad, you'll at least have William Dafoe chewing scenery as Ryuk.

Also, the trailer for the new adaption of IT looks fantastic. Well, except for the silly last thirty seconds. Even then, I am still very optimistic about it. It looks far better and more faithful than the dull 90s miniseries. Going to finally read the book over the summer before it comes out.

  11.

I'm still trying to figure out why Veil decided to save Quinn's life.

The location change was definitely a benefit to the show. Yeah, I'm a Waldo fanboy.:phu:

    Awesome, have fun watching it!

I would do it except my friends dislike playing games on their PCs. The PC master race hasn't assimilated us yet.:chuckle: That's one of the reasons why I will never get rid of my N64.

I'll admit that I rolled my eyes when I first saw Prometheus since I thought they were rehashing an evil archer villain from season one but I'm glad to hear that I'm wrong. Woah, even better than Slade? Well, I'll be damned. The writing on The Flash has declined greatly, they need to step up for next season. And they need to change it up from "mysterious speedster with a twist identity" cliche.

  12.

It was a really fun atmosphere in the theater with nobody rudely talking. The worst theater experience I've probably had this year was with Mission Impossible with a couple that refused to be quiet. However, I will admit that I got so caught up in the film that I talked to myself a few times.:$

Looking forward to seeing Domhall Gleeson hamming it up in the sequels.

I'm going to be rather annoyed if they give Phasma a Boba Fett-esque type of death in the sequels.:chuckle: Yeah, the Kenobi theory is pushing it a bit. I don't think that would be possible. Another thing is that near the end of the film when everyone is waving the Millennium Falcon goodbye, I was scanning the crowd to make sure that Nien Nunb didn't die in the final battle. Glad that they didn't bring him back just to die.

    Don't worry about it. Thanks!

    Happy early New Year!

  13.

It's going to be interesting to see more of Metatron next year.

I have no idea if the angels are going to be completely human. It was tragic seeing Cas looking at the sky like that. We probably will see Abaddon again next season in a different vessel. Hopefully Crowley stays as a semi demon since it'll be funny to see a sensitive side to him. Then again, I don't want him to be a weak ally. They did do a lot of work for the trials to not go through with it.:chuckle:

Star Trek 2 was awesome. Still have trouble getting used to the new, more emotional Spock. Benedict was fantastic as you know who.

Klingons are definitely going to be the villains for the third one.

Apparently they want to release the third one in 2016 since it's the 50 year anniversary. I wonder who they're going to get to direct it.

  14.

Just saw the extended promo and it does look great. Seems that quite a lot is going to happen in it. I don't think anything bad will happen to Cas and that he'll return to normal.

    I don't like spoilers.:phu:

I got tired of hearing about the Harlem shake and I haven't even seen a video. Don't think that I can watch a shake video, even if it's with Supernatural.:shitfty:

Haha that's true but I'm still tired.

You're welcome. That's awesome that you got to meet Misha and to ask him a question too. Don't think that I could do that since I hate the sound of my voice. Told you that he wouldn't answer it.:p

Sorry if some of the message doesn't make sense, I'm tired.:p

  15.

Oh yeah I hadn't noticed that it was Vancouver.:shifty:

Crowley and Lucifer easily put the Leviathans to shame as villains. Told you that Crowley was awesome. Hoping the finale is great.

Since I'm guessing you're caught by now, isn't it great having Cas and Meg back? Also since Cas woke up in the same lake that he disappeared, I wish the guys would have searched for him around the lake for a while. Maybe they could have found him.

It wasn't a final actually.:chuckle: We just presented our final animations in class and that was it.

    Thanks.

Yeah I still miss him a lot. I've had about eight or nine dreams about him being alive.

  16.

Nah, I'm kidding.:chuckle: It's not that expensive. I didn't know about the breakfast. I would have probably been too nervous to talk to her and would have been just staring her in a creepy way.

Haha that's awesome. There needs to be photos of the teddy bear finalist.:chuckle:

Thanks! Welcome back! I've been great, having a fun summer with friends and family. Been going to concerts and finally got to see Volbeat live. They were a blast but sadly the mosh pit was all the way on the other side of the concert.:chuckle: Also attended a local comic convention that was really fun. There were some spot on costumes in that convention such as Jon Snow, Misty from Pokemon and Doctor Who. Had plans to travel to Australia during the summer since it's winter there right now but it didn't work out. There's still next year though. Sadly had to put down one of my dogs a few months back but it was for the best. Still have one with me though.

Really tempted to get back into Supernatural since I've been hearing a lot of praise for season 11. Not to mention that Misha as Lucifer sound so fucking fun.

How about you? What have you been up to?

  18.

    feliciaday.gif

Always great to have him back. Also Crowley is coming back.:awesome:

Oh yeah forgot about that, sorry.

I haven't seen that many japanese crowds that stand still.:chuckle: Japanese and South American crowds are the best.

    :yesey:

So that's their idea of suspense huh? It wasn't that bad at the beginning but it just kept getting worse and worse. That's also my reaction to their smaller budget recreation of the TDKR climatic fight. They keep stealing ideas from Batman. I know I've mentioned it already but the fight choreography really went down after skimming through season four footage. Also, Diggle's helmet looks even worse than I imagined. It is a shame that the show runners have decided to pander to the Olicity crowd and man has it had on the show and fans. The thing is that Felicity used to a really fun character and it's a shame that they ruined her. I loved her in the first two seasons.

Go ahead and rant on the plot points. I heard there was something involved with nukes.:p

I LOVED the motel fight with the angels and Jesse. It was so silly and over the top. I was surprised at Miles death as well. I was also really shocked when Eugene got sent to hell and I'm hoping that they rescue him. Not sure why they couldn't just steal blood bags for him. I was a bit sad that the town got blown up since I grew attached to some of the characters such as Emily and more importantly, the random mascot. Shame that he killed himself along with the Indian mascot. Thoughts on the whole "God" scene? I thought it was really well done. Yeah, I'm guessing that the Cowboy can kill angels permanently. Quincannon is actually far more disturbing in the comics and they were pretty tame with him in the TV show. Oh and the No Rain cover in the finale was :awesome:.

So I'm two episodes into Stranger Things and I'm underwhelmed to say the least. I mean it's got good writing, acting, cinematography and directing but it's not spectacular. I haven't been blown away. Maybe it's because I hyped myself too much for it but yeah. The boring teenage romance isn't doing the show any favors. The "Should I stay or go scene" was really on the nose as well. I'm still going to watch it to figure out the mystery.

Suicide Squad was ehhh. It was alright but it's not something that I'm going to seek out again. Suicide Squad should have really been far more smaller in scale. The villains that they face in the third act are far out of their league. The Joker should have crossed paths with the Squad and that could have been a better film. A better idea would have been Amanda Waller sending them on an undisclosed mission to attain something and crossing paths with Deathstroke. Just those ideas would have been better. It did not need to be that big in scale. There was no sense of camaraderie between the Squad members either. Oh and you can tell that it was hacked away by the studio because of the editing in the film. Oh boy, the editing.

  20.

Glad to see that Mr. Harvey got what he deserved at the end.

I saw them both, they were very fun.I was the only one laughing at the Star Wars references in Paul.:$

I thought about seeing those too but I'll just catch them on DVD.

    Hows your weekend going?

  21.

Hmm I thought Lori did die before the prison.

That's a lot of Supernatural.:chuckle: Great to hear that you're catching up. You have to agree that yellow eyes demon was an awesome villain.

    Oh damn that sucks.

  22.

Hope Adam returns in the future. The deaths were shocking when I first saw them. Also Cas saying "assbutt".:chuckle: Gabriel was a great character too, wish he didn't die. Also what did you think of the four horsemen?

Sucks that he wasn't at least nominated for that role, he did a great job. I guess we'll never know why she gave it to him.

Well you'll have to keep watching to see how it turns out for Cas. Haha well you could take a break and continue after the exams. When are your exams?

  23.

However I'm not looking forward to this week's episode since it has Dick in it. Hopefully it proves me wrong and turns out to be interesting. I don't know who Felicia Day is.:$

    You're welcome.

What are you going to do in your summer break?

  24.

I don't remember seeing Clark's mom being thrown around.

The product placement was pretty bad in that film.:chuckle:

Main reason that I'm excited for it is Guillermo Del Toro. He hasn't released a film in five years. I've never watched Gundam.:shifty: The security for my theater is still terrible. Not sure what to expect of the new Godzilla movie. I have a soft spot for the 1998 American version of Godzilla since I watched it a lot growing up.

That sucks that zombies weren't shown being killed. Now that I've been thinking about it, the Lord Of The Rings did show a lot of brutal violence for PG-13 films.

Good luck again. It shall be interesting. You've kept in touch with your team?
