B&H sounds fucking massive now. Matt's voice nowadays suits the song really well.
Yeah it was monstrous in Sydney 2013, as you'd know (presuming you were there).
-
I'm unreasonably furious at that B&H video being blocked, even though I think I'm over the band.
What so all Drones tour vids are blocked in US?
-
hnngghghgh
[YT]
[/YT]I must see this song live
Still sounds mega live
B&H:
-
Apparently CE is a piano song now
-
-
According to this TAB was soundchecked as well: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/muse/2016/accorhotels-arena-paris-france-3f0b5d7.html
-
Tomorrow :
Hysteria for Map
Citizen for Bliss
Assassin for Stockholm
Feeling Good for Eurasia
I think
Or maybe Sunburn for piano slot. Or that might be night 4. Also Defector should appear in the Reapers/Revolt slot.
Edit: Any video of Paris SS is welcomed.
-
I think UD should just disappear now, and be swapped with Revolt\Defector so we get an extra Drones song, after all, it is the DRONES tour.
I'd actually prefer Madness to be dropped. Or Madness/UD rotation.
-
This is about co-headlining the same day at Reading I believe (it is also worth noting that the last headliner to be announce is another pair of dual-headliners), not headlining separate days at Glastonbury.
Not what it sounded like but my mistake if I read it wrong.
-
There is no way in a bazillion years Muse would agree to 'co-headline' with Coldplay. Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER.
Also, at this stage of their respective careers, and the obvious similarities between the bands, I can't see the Eavis' booking Muse, Radiohead and Coldplay for the same edition.
And as Radiohead appear to be headlining elsewhere, I can't see them being tucked away on a smaller stage doing a secret set, or something like that.
So realistically, I'd say one of the three will play. Two would be very strange. Three absolutely bonkers.
-
What time do they start tonight?
-
I can see them playing Asia in September and Australia in late September/October.
Tbh Australia will probably end up being November/December like the past three tours, which I'm fine with anyway.
-
I thought the plan was to be in Asia in July? Obviously they've decided to play some festivals which has probably pushed Asia/Australia dates back.
-
Anyone have scans?
Matt: "My focus won't be a large body of work. For a number of years I'm not going to attempt to make another full collection of work that has a very clear theme. I feel like I've done that. I think the albums before Drones were each trying to improve on that. I'd like to be more sporadic and random."
Oh dear don't really like the sound of that.
-
Why do they keep going on about how they're one of the last artists to make albums/albums aren't common anymore. Am I completely missing something?
Yeah when Matt said that I was just like 'um no'. And if they mean concept albums still no e.g. Dream Theatre just released one.

-
Shit, only just thought to ask a question like "With Drones, you've said your aim was to go back to being a more hard-rock orientated three-piece band, both live and on the record. Has this proved troublesome or awkward when writing setlists, considering some of your biggest hits over the last 10 years have been more pop and electronic focused songs? Do you feel they clash with the intentions of the record?"
Ballucks.
Their answer 'Yes'

Just watched this for the first time, I think, since the day after the gig itself.

Every-so-often, Muse can still absolutely smash it out the park. Just like they did at Glastonbury in 2004, Reading in 2011, they did it at Download in 2015.
Yep and it had probably the best Hysteria of last year and an awesome rendition of Mercy too

Those are the only pro-shots around I think.

I thought the guy did much better than the girl. She wasn't bad by any means, but didn't really put a lot of variation into the different vocal parts of the song.
Also, the dude didn't get a hug.
I agree the guy was better, but nice to hear Starlight with a girls voice, it suits the song imo. Obviously not as good as the original though.
-
Starlight actually sounds good again here, amazing what guitar does
-
What I'd like to see for future arena gigs:
- A different opener to replace Drones (probably Drill Sergeant)
- Keep the OoS rotation slot (Bliss/CE/PIB)
- Add another piano slot (something like Sunburn/SD/RBS)
- Add a heavy rotation slot near the end of the set (SS/NB/Assassin)
- Make Defector a staple (after JFK)
- Drop Prelude (unless Survival follows)
- A Showbiz rotation slot (although this seems unlikely)

Yeah it was a bit but the vocals combined with the energy of the band and the crowd made it hands down the highlight of the gig.
