  1. I like this very much considering it's just a first single. Upon the first couple of listens I wasn't too sure about the singing style of the verses, but it took a surprisingly short time to get used to them. The song structure is obviously very standard, but that's completely fine for a simple single. I like how they've managed to spice it up with those changes on the eighth beats which makes it sound like it's changing time signature although it keeps a (un?)steady 4/4 throughout. The theme of the song also makes me feel like it's a mirroring of/sequel to The Handler which I really like.

Also: They've really made the most out of Matt's slightly perverse grin in the video haven't they

    ❤️

Gutted about Falling With The Crowd and particularly Forameus though

Wait, so Earthquake and Connect The Kettle Lead are not Forameus and Falling With The Crowd?

Makes me both sad and excited in that case...

  3. That said, another personal song, huh? I like that Matt seems more inclined to write songs about what he actually feels, instead of political paranoia and alien conspiracies. :)

To be fair, hasn't Matt always written quite emotional songs but covered them with conceptual faff? Drones for example, seems to me like trying to come to terms with a rather controlling relationship, which is the only reason I connected to songs like Dead Inside and The Handler :) Map of the Problematique as well, with singing about Gaia but referring to what might become (and then became) an economic crisis and how to handle the aftermath. But maybe I'm just reading way too much into it :nerd:

  4. This 80's retro Thriller vibe makes the mid-life crisis shine through :chuckle: Has anyone mentioned the music video to Gorillaz's 'Stylo' yet? I guess Chris has become Bruce Willis.

Jokes aside, I quite like the song, although I feel some details are a bit off, (too big of a jump in singing style between verses one and too, the synth in the chorus a bit too forefront and so on, which makes it a bit incoherent imo) but in terms of the album as a whole it seems it will fit quite well.

And as long as we get an acoustic version, which it seems, I'm all ears!

  5. I heard a lot of 'mistakes' in this release compared to Rome. It felt as they left some of it be for the whole rock live feeling they loved talking about during the tour. I'm glad they did tbh, but some songs were not their best performances (read: The Handler).

I'm really happy about the pro audio of Vuilstaamen riff though. It was the best part of the whole thing

    City Of Delusion

Hate This & I’ll Love You

Tough call for Shine, buncha stuff that deserves to be in there (Cave, Uno, Host, CTMEOY, HCM, In Your World, Fillip, RBS) but that’s flavour of the month I guess.

Amazing how consistently I’ve kept crossing off huge names from my bucket list over the years and yet there’s still, like, 25+ songs I feel at least some need to see :chuckle:

Are we the same person? :pope:

  8. I got the impression they started booing way before they understood what she was talking about.. At least I thought she was going to say no moshing or crowd surfing, before that screen popped up. But yeah it was really fucked up how they booed tbf

Edit: Also, that bloody Showbiz falsetto...

  9. Overall really good set. Assassin was great as usual (can't believe I'm staying that, 3rd time now) but I really loved it this time cause I could mosh with my friends.

New Born has really come back as a live favourite for me, and to see the OoS visuals again almost teared me up.

I took every chance I could to yell for Showbiz, and it made me happy when some people caught on to it as well. Still have hopes for reading!

The biggest surprise for me though was Take A Bow. All day all I ever talked about was how I wish I'd get to see Take A Bow with lasers at some point, and well, there it was with some new cool visuals as well! I am a lucky boy.

But seriously, the section of madness, starlight, dead inside and so on really kill the mood a bit. The mid-end set needs a piano section and better flow tbh.

Oh and Dig Down was even more boring than I suspected. It didn't even feel like a part of the show..

    Next off, Leeds.

  10. I haven't even begun to understand what happened last night. I can't even talk about all those songs...

The biggest surprise for me last night though was how incredibly good new born was! Didn't expect that.

The end of the gig was just complete mayhem. While flying crowd surfing I got spun around, saw people getting naked before landing a meter from Chris just off the barrier and thought "well surely someone hasn't survived this", especially since people were pulled out of the crowd as early as during dead star. Also, the whole Assassin -> dead star intro was a bit like the battle of the bastards. You were just crushed to death

  11. The first full song I heard was Citizen Erased live when my family had dinner next to Cirkus in Stockholm 2003. (We arrived during the middle of Micro Cuts). The song that made me a fan though was Stockholm Syndrome when I downloaded it off Limewire in 2005.

EDIT: Made a back check and apparently the first song for me was Thoughts of a Dying Atheist... But CE is the one I properly remember :chuckle:
