Defector lyric video!

I have to say, when I first heard it was like 'What the hell is this??'. Once I got used to the unusual chord changes and style it really grew on me.

Agreed with Defector! Aftermath is a weird one. I think I like it if I'm in the mood.

I dunno why people are shocked by the Globalist sounding as it does... It's exactly the same as the 'Making of' leak. xD Granted lengths of sections were never known, but the tone was quite clear.

I recently watched the American Idiot musical was pleasantly surprised... I think Muse could do it and actually have something quite spectacular! Dystopian Sci-fi backdrop with a love story as the main focus. They could use music from previous albums too.

I think everyone (including myself) got over hyped over the first half. The second half is really not bad at all, it's just not expected. I think people just didn't expect a song like Revolt the most. It's like The Killers or something, which isn't a bad thing in my eyes. It's very catchy!

I love this album! Reapers -> The Handler -> Defector is just perfect. The rest grows on you for sure. Only two tracks that I don't like (Aftermath, Drones) which is fewer than T2L.

Here we go. 1-Bad, 2-Not Great, 3-Good, 4-Excellent, 5-Perfect Dead Inside (2.5/5) Not a terrible track, but not something I will really listen to that often. I like the first half the most. Drill Sergeant + Psycho (3.5/5) I really enjoy this. So much fun, great riff, awesome live. Yeah, it's a bit long... But meh. Love it. Mercy (3/5) I like this, it's pretty huge live and kinda catchy. Like the bass. Very BH&R. Reapers (4.5/5) Awesome track! Starts off fine but builds up to be incredible. The last section gives me goosebumps. The Handler (5/5) Best thing Muse have written since Glorious for me. Adore this track. This is what Muse are to me. JFK + Defector (4/5) Took a while to warm to this but I like it now. It's great for head banging and puts a smile on my face. JFK leads into it well. Think this will get even better with every listen. Revolt (3/5) I don't think it deserves the grief it gets but I understand why people don't like it. I however find it really catchy and good fun. Aftermath (2.5/5) Hated on first listen. Didn't wanna finish it. However, it's better after a few more. The main thing I dislike is the first half of the chorus. So much cringe and ballad cliche. The rest is fine, though. Not fussed. The Globalist (3.5/5) Underwhelmed at first, but it does get better with each listen. Some absolutely incredible parts. Piano definitely drags on at the end. Still great though. Drones (1.5/5) I think Matt is brave for attempting this and don't think he did a bad job... But I hate this. Mainly because the lyrics are absolutely atrocious. Otherwise it might be okay... Weird end to an otherwise pretty consistent album! Overall 3.5/5 Better than T2L, TR and Showbiz. That's pretty much all I could realistically ask for, so I'm happy! The Handler is pretty much one of my favourite Muse tracks ever now.. EDIT: Coming around to Drones. Could be a 3/5.

Classic pop music! I actually really like it. In fact, all the tracks get better with more listens.

My favourite part of the Globalist is from where the slide guitar starts to the first rotation of piano. The rest is just filler.

I liked the guitar stabs, but it went a bit weird when the Defector solo joined on strings IMO. Still, it's pretty cool.

Drones (song) is actually atrocious. I can't even listen to it. Glad it's at the end, I can chop it off...

I'm actually at the point where Muse have used Queen sounding things often enough for them not to sound like Queen anymore.

Second listen of the tracks has made them all better so far. Possible final resting place for Drones in the list: Abso > OoS > BH&R > Drones > TR > T2L = Showbiz Final Verdict: So much better than T2L is every way. A weird album, with some amazing tracks and some weird ones that just sort of stick out. Overall, confused but actually rather pleased! High Points: The Handler, Reapers Low Points: Drones, Aftermath (although it got better with a second listen).

Okay. Properly changed my opinion here. Aftermath is not awful.

On second listen, the thing I don't like about Aftermath is the first half of the chorus. The rest is actually alright. I know that sounds silly, but it really does sound like some cheesy ballad at that part.
