I predict in a few years time there's going to be more clamor for fan favorite tracks on Drones over Simulation Theory.
-
Quickly done without too much thought:
1. Origin of Symmetry/Absolution
3. Black Holes & Revelations
4. Showbiz/The Resistance/Simulation Theory
7. The 2nd Law
8. Drones
-
Final solution in TC = apocalypse IMO. Apocalypse is an usual theme of Muse songs...and in TC it could mean a reload after a bad simulation...
"The" final solution vs. "a" final solution makes it seem less vague about what it means
-
Well it is, after all, European history. If you asked the average European about the civil war in the US or the Pacific war I don't think they'd be able to say much beyond "slavery vs abolitionists" and "Pearl Harbor".
Average European knows American history better than Americans

Yeah. It's either really tasteless or they've never heard the phrase in the context of the Holocaust; I'm guessing the latter.
I think it was known because of the “brace for” bit that precedes it. Just should’ve been dialed down
-
Don't really know why some people hate that line so much. It's not the best lyric he's ever written but he's definitely written far worse!
Agree that the way he sings it like "fiNAL soLUtiOHHH" live is kinda whack though.
Because The Holocaust.
-
Guiding Light is good tbh.
Correct
-
Yeah reminds me of 'Let the Groove In' by JT a little which is great because that's a fantastic tune.
I think someone's said before that it sounds more Linkin Park than RatM which I can agree with honestly. Sounds a little like Wretches and Kings. Obviously the guitar solo is very Morello though.
I mainly hear 'Let the Groove In' but also some 'Don't Hold the Wall'
-
Not really in the mood to derail the thread arguing that post but noticing the trends of their actual music is different that delving into motivations and implying that they are "willfully refusing to even try". It's a very loaded implication to have only one quote in retrospect as backup.
And riding off the tails of a larger band you look up to is like the very crux of growing audience as a band.
Agreed

TIL video (Twilight) killed the radio star (Muse)

Hot lake:
ahhh nice that hits the spot

I definitely hear two JT songs in the verses of Break It To Me, and that's great because JT makes genuinely good pop. Beyond that, the song is way more RATM influenced than anything.

I love this board

All of them.

GL is still v close to the bottom of my rankings for the last 4 records, only things lower are Big Freeze, Save Me, Prague (just) and Aftermath.
GL is better than half of ST
-
Follow Me
Liquid State
Sign of the Times cover
Mercy
Revolt
Aftermath
The Globalist
New Kind of Kick
Something Human
Thought Contagion
Get Up and Fight
Dig Down
I'm not saying some of these aren't good songs, I'm saying Guiding Light is better than all of them
Fixed that for you.

Lol I feel like you're at that same stage rn as when a person has just developed a serious crush on someone and finds every boring story they tell really interesting
lmaooooo
-
both albums definitely need a remaster, i'm sure it'd propel both to new heights
-
Page 346 of this thread about to give me an aneurysm MK Ultra, Defector, and Exo Politics are leaps and bounds above Blockades, even Liquid State is more original
-
Tbf, it's much better than Exo-Politics. Which is utter garbage.
But Blockades is definitely a load of pap.
Definitely think you got these mixed up, at least Exo isn’t Muse covering Muse
-
It’s higher than anything since BHAR, surprised Ian Cohen was feeling generous. I also can’t disagree with anything he says in this review
-
But muh concept album.
would've helped to have more sonic cohesiveness th00 0 o, for real though mashing the high points of T2L and ST together then you get a real BHAR follow up
I feel like Animals would be really out of place on ST.I think it pairs well with BITM
