  1. The Dark Side has some wubstep as well. There's an instrumental floating around which must be from an older version. If you phase shift it against the current release, the main things left over (after compression artifacts) are vocals and wubs. In other words, they turned up the wub-wubs for the final release.
  2. I bet he watches Rick and Morty.
  3. I’ve tried so hard to like the past three albums. Mostly I learned to believe that Muse had fundamentally changed, and were no longer capable of being “old Muse” — so it was fine that the new albums were a bit forgettable. They were still fun, and quite listenable. TDS has just ruined all of that for me. Suddenly I hate everything they’ve done over the past 10 years.
  4. I’m surprised nobody has compared it to Dead Inside yet.
  5. I think he’s talking about the A4 at 0:09.
  6. It's almost exactly the opening from Space Dementia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxVC8mdOeNQ 0:06 "I've been pursued" 0:15 "I have lived in darkness"
  7. It reminds me so much of 2015 Metric. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuPRFDC3wCQ
  8. This fucking song. I feel like I’ve just had a traumatic experience and I’m still processing. Every time I listen, I carefully allow myself to love it more and more.
  9. I’ve basically decided that I love this song but hate the production. Bring on disc 2
  10. Nah the best Bliss was when he played that chromatic riff during the bridge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ6GU9jV65Y Even though the lubricated TR drums ruin it a little. It's still kind of absurd how much better Bliss is live than in studio. They should have re-recorded it when Matt still had those falsettos in him.
  11. I have heaps of “bands doing Muse better than Muse” songs. Here’s a Muse song about identity crisis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIO_kvBqYus
  12. I have so many conflicting responses to this. 1) That tells me the end result musically indicates Matt's feelings towards his fanbase. "Classic Muse sound" loosely means "I'm doing it for you guys." If it ends up being pop, then the message is more like "fuck you I'll do what I want." 2) Dream Theater have already written the "Muse complaining about their fanbase" song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X_WV_5Wynw 3) Some of the "pressure" is probably Chris and Dom taking his simple songs and throwing everything at them. We now have a song about in-band fighting. 4) It's really adorable how Matt has started wearing his heart on his sleeve.
  13. Not what I said. Matt will often just step away from the microphone and doodle on guitar/piano. On the rare occasions where he's sitting at the microphone for most of the song (Madness), Dom and Chris are usually playing prominent roles as well. Here, the drums might as well be a loop, and where even is Chris?
  14. I think Paramore can get away with doing synthpop because Hayley's voice has always been a driving factor in the music. Matt has never been as much of a lead vocalist, there are often long stretches of time during Muse songs before his voice comes in, so it's jarring to hear a song where Matt is doing most of the work and the rhythm section is potentially absent. This really sounds like it belongs on Matt's solo album.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKWHLJLtMI8 From this interview it seems like they're doing multiple versions of most songs on the album. So this is the version where they throw everything at the wall, and there will be a true acoustic version on the album.
  16. Cool, now I understand why they didn't play it after the Drones movie. The tropical drums and synth lead are blatantly tacked on for pop radio appeal. For all its acoustic guitar and personal touches, it ends up feeling really forced, like Muse still don't understand that they aren't a mainstream pop act. Will see if it grows on me over time, but so far Dig Down and Thought Contagion are much better. The video has a Stranger Things influence, so the theme of the videos is... Netflix? Muse are releasing concerts on Netflix confirmed?
  17. This line bugs me because I wrote a song called Pressurise a few years ago using the same metaphor I swear there have been a few times I've had musical ideas, and then Matt comes out with the same idea. Not accusing him of anything since I don't even post my music online, but it's just weird how alike we think sometimes.
  18. Matt reads the forums confirmed. Sounds really good. Can't wait to hear more! Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGWeHPK3NC4 Muse seem to be taking a few pages from the Paramore book lately.
  19. 16 hours later and my ears are still ringing. Knights of Harmonica was brutal on the ears. And yeah, the vocals were live, save for Dom singing three octaves at the same time and sounding suspiciously like Matt during The Globalist.
