  1. You are a bright spark! Happy Thanksgiving, my brother! It is a pilgrim holiday, true, but giving thanks is something we should do every day, right? Bro, still waiting for the friend request.

  2. God, has it been that long since I have been on here? Goodness gracious. I am sorry I missed your birthday and sorry that you smell. Heehee. You gotta find me on Facebook, because it might be another few weeks before I am on here again. Did you like the most recent album? I am hoping for more material sooner rather than later. Not to imply anything, of course. I liked it. Key word - liked. Talk to you soon, I hope. God bless!

  3. Egads... swine flu? I hope all is well, by now, brother. My name is Matthew Alan Barry, when you look it up on Facebook... they don't care too much for my Newborn Deadstar alias. I am going to try and put it back on, and hope they are none the wiser. Talk to you soon, sooner if you send me a request. God bless.

  4. It is, thank you for asking... it has been a long time. I cant keep up with all that I want to. Send me a request on Facebook, too, if you fancy that sort of thing. Otherwise, prayers and blessings to you always... I also have my own personal library!

  5. Good to hear from you, brother... the concert was amazing, absolutely amazing. I really liked how comfortable and completely unpretentious... they loved what they were doing and why they were doing it sooo much! Dont forget to add me on FB! You can see I dont get on here much!

  6. Obi, I know it has been a long time, brother, but I have been swamped... and I discovered Facebook. You can find me on there.. type my user name with a space in between the two song titles.. as of right now, my pic is a tree. Send a message in your friend request so I know its you. If you dont do facebook, I will drop you a line after I get back from my trip to see Delirious... yep, you heard me. I am very excited! I am flying to Chicago to see them play at a small church auditorium. Meet and greet beforehand! Talk to you soon. I hope all is well with you. God bless.

  7. Overthinking... Ahhhh, one of my favorite ways to destroy myself. Listen to me right now, and if you never listen to me ever again, it will be worth it... stop the thoughts in your head - right now! The Word says to dwell on thoughts of heaven, not just thoughts of earth. What that means is to be in constant meditation and prayer to keep the Enemy from gaining a foothold. Make a stronghold of your mind. Do not overthink or analyze - that is your pride starting to blossom at your early age. I take it you are probably intelligent and thoughtful, which in the hands of the Enemy can be used to bolster your selfish desires by weening you off of dependence on God. Trust me, it happened to me years ago, and I am just now coming back to my senses that the good Lord provided me with in the first place. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, I don't do much but Facebook anymore because none of my friends like Muse. They suck! Hahahaha. Thank you for your note, I just wanted to encourage you to keep the faith and not get stuck with the commitee in your head.

  8. To me, Christ is my identity. I now understand that to be a Christian is to love God completely, love self correctly, and love others compassionately. That all may see the light of Christ in me, that He may be glorified. Notice the word love. That is what it is all about. Love should be our all-purpose garment, worn at all times... and the only true, sincere love is the one that Christ gave us as an example. There is no greater love than laying your life down for a brother. Maybe we wont literally die, but sacrificing our selfishness and our wants and desires for the benefit of others is a start of what God has called us to do.
  9. Obi, my brother... you can see I am not fibbing when I say that I am not on much. My schedule is so crazy, but it keeps me busy and out of trouble. I am looking for a computer at the moment, praying something comes along that is suitable just for communication purposes. I have no desire to surf the web, as they say, just stay in contact with friends and family, Bible study stuff, and of couse, muse.mu. By the way, I have been listening to a little Delirious that a friend put on my iPod. You are right, they are indeed awesome, I do not know how I ever missed them, cant wait to hear more. I see a cd purchase on the horizon, any suggestions for my first?

  10. Its been a bit since I have been online. Just wanted to let you know I am alive and well and I pray that you are too. God bless you, my brother. Keep the faith. If you do not mind, I would like to share conversion stories with you. If you want, you can go first, or wait until the next time I get online for me to give it a go. Adios, amigo. Also, the band list is still a work in progress.

  11. Hello! Not online much, but I appreciate your kind words, and am joyful for another believer to chat with. There are a lot of cool people on here. I gotta scram, but I pray you have a blessed day!

  12. Hmmm.. I do not go online much, did this group get abandoned or just die out due to neglect? : ) Just curious. Anyone suggest another topic? Like perhaps, considering the nature of the group, what we struggle with and what God has done in our lives to overcome that for us? Come on, people... I go to recovery meetings daily with dozens of people - semi-anonymous posts are easy by comparison. Just throwing it out there, for the sake of some sort of fellowship. Electronic as it is, we are still the body, eh? Catch my drift, anyone?
  13. Give me some time and I will compile a list of Christian bands for you. I love Hillsong as well, and find a lot of praise and worship is really well done, which I am sure you would agree... but there is a lot to be said for stuff that rocks out for the Lord, eh? If you like old school stuff, you can find The Alarm out there, from the 80's, but they are top notch, old school like me. Their lyrics are profound and the music has some real grit to it. If you like old school 80's U2, you know what I am saying. (before Bono starting getting a Messiah complex of some sort) Besides that, you should buy King's X albums Gretchen Goes to Nebraska and also Out of A Silent Planet. These guys are spiritually sound, and old school. (are you catching a them here?) As far as new school, there is Firefly (they rock!), Plumb, Decipher Down, Sanctus Real... as a matter of fact go to wayf.wayfm.com online, that is my hometown Christian radio station. I believe it streams. Most of my stuff is older, because it was before I rebelled against God in my 13 year drug and alcohol addiction. I am saved by His blood now, all thanks to God I am forgiven.

  14. Just reading some of your posts... if you do not go to church, the church I grew up with in Louisville and the church I go to now both have online ministries with sermons and what not. Check out southeastchristian.org (Louisville, KY) and gochristfellowship.com (West Palm Beach, FL - I go to the CityPlace campus). I highly suggest, considering your statement of being a follower of Christ, that you go to the Southeast site, check out sermon podcasts for the NOT A FAN series, listen and be blessed.

  15. Good grief, I just got back online and saw that I mispelled Lewis. Drats. About drums, I have had a Pearl set with Zildjian A Custom cymbals for about 18 years. I only like to play when I have guitars and such to play along with. Drum solos are obnoxious, unless you are a master (like a Jedi-master - think Neil Peart) and even then a bit too over done. Screwtape is really deep, bro, I am impressed that someone so young can hang with that. What do you think about it? Can you relate any of it to your life at all?

  16. I have played drums for over twenty years. And I think that Stupid Dream by Porcupine Tree is one of the best albums ever made. Other than that, just curious if you have read any other C. S. Lewus besides his Narnia series. He is one of my favorite authors, I read him almost everyday, as he helps me in my walk with Christ.

  17. I think it is awesome that you say you do not watch tv that much anymore. I watched some today for the first time (other than the Stanley Cup) in a long while... three months, in fact. I decided to pop in haarp and have some jam time. Since you are in the apply named Christian Musers, may I ask what your spiritual background is?

  18. Not a preacher.... you just made me laugh uncontrollably. Seriouslly, my sides hurt. I am just someone being used by God... simply put, there is His glory in my story. I love God and think of and leave you with this verse from the New Living Translation of the Word of God: I Peter 1: 22-23 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. **That is what I am talking about! Anyways, I hope you all have a blessed night/day wherever you are. Hope to keep these discussions going...
  19. There is no such thing as a Christian-like life without acknowledgement of Christ, God, et al... Being an atheist runs counter to the very reason we were created in the first place. We were created by God, with freewill (which is very important given the nature of any discussion of atheism) in order that we may Glorify Him above all things. The freewill comes into play because that proves how much He loves us, that He is God of the universe and He gives us a choice to love Him. And we love him by heeding the words of Christ - "If you love me, you will do as I say. If you don't love me, you won't do as I say." The Word of God is truth and it is life, and it has the answer to every question you could ever ponder. It is also important to remember Deuteronomy 29:29. Look it up. Some things simply cannot be explained, and you must take it on faith and trust in the Lord, and He will direct your path. God Bless!
  20. Just wanted to say Hi, and to encourage you in your walk with Christ, and that you put Him first in all that you do. I pray you have a wonderful day! God bless you!

  21. I agree with Obi in the sense that Matt is only fooling himself. I only fooled myself for many years and it only lead to death and destruction - losing everything I had due to pride and selfishness. If he loved the Lord, with his talent, he would smoke any artist I have ever heard of. Have a blessed day everyone. Be strong, serve God only, know that if you do beautiful heaven awaits.
  22. Hello, all... just joined this messageboard. First one I have ever joined. Gotta run for now, as I am moving today. I just wanted to say that I am not a fan of Christ, I am a completely committed follower of Him and His Word. To me, that is all the difference in the world. I go to a non-denominational church that has people from every walk of life you can think of that only want to love and serve God by loving and serving others. (My walk of life? - think Saul turning into Paul) Oh, and I do enjoy Muse... one of only a handful of secular artists I even listen to. They are just way too talented. I pray for them all, too. I hope to get back on here soon. I wish you all the best. God bless! - Matthew (newborndeadstar)
