The greatest thread in the history of the Muse forum is upon is. Since it has been implicitly decided that Guiding Light is this standard of poor quality that all other poor quality can be based around it is now time to make an objective, definitive, and unanimously agreed upon list of the songs Muse have made that were not able to even surpass the infamous 4 minute ballad tucked away in the center of The Resistance.

If anything it showed they haven't forgotten some of those songs exist. They just had to relearn them. It was not really brought to the tour though.

I'm not making the argument of quality. That's a messy road that never ends well. Muse have singles from Showbiz but they're not nearly as popular as the ones from Absolution onwards which seem to be where most of their fanbase is from. Their closest equivalent to AM's "Dancefloor" is probably Plug In Baby and hence that gets played a ton. New Born showed up kinda often too but they seem to have just tired of the song some.

No shit, that's why Muse's by-request shows have full crowds singing along to Muscle Museum but that wasn't the original point.

If you asked everyone at the average show how many wanted to hear Muscle Museum I'd be surprised if a sizable percentage even knew what you were talking about.

Yes that was all I alluded too. I was actually rather disappointed when Ashamed came in after Showbiz because the riff had such little power because of his new heavy tone. I remember the riffage from 2011 Stockholm Syndrome and how huge that sounded. Heaviness is a full frequency Matt.

This honestly sounds like what a lot of the big 00s alternative bands became over time as they stagnated. I makes me have a special distaste for the song because as odd as Muse's direction became at least they usually weren't that.

The album's growing on me. Keep in mind I haven't had a proper full playthrough yet. But just the bits and pieces I'm starting to appreciate.

Yeah for sure. Algorithm, Dark Side, maybe even Pressure and Something Human (I grown to love this one personally) I'm really enjoying in more immediacy than work from the past record. Others might grow on me (The Void certainly so), so I'm pleased enough. But Algorithm being the only strong impression I hadn't heard before was disappointing as a first listen.
