  1. So I guess Unsustainable isn't a voice break for Matt anymore? So cool finally seeing him sing it.
  2. Great show so far. Break It To Me sounded fantastic. Edit: yay, Uprising not in an encore slot.
  3. Just saw on Instagram that Matt had a custom Manson bass built for Chris' 40th birthday. Awesome.
  4. Oh cool, even with the low quality Chris' bass sounds very prominent in the mix.
  5. I feel like a song from the by request gigs could certainly show up, leaning towards Showbiz for some reason. I also feel like an oldie is going to be re-worked for piano again...no idea which song, mind. Whatever happens, just seeing them in that venue (and hopefully getting some ST debuts) will make it very special.
  6. No idea what their schedule is for next year but maybe Chvrches? Covered Lies a few years back and I suppose ST shares some similarities with their sound.
  7. Chris is a top bass player. He might be the quiet man but he's the anchor of the band for me. Inventive playing and he never goes over the top, always serving the song perfectly, though I'm sure he (like Dom) could play more technically proficient parts if he wanted to. The man's stamina is otherworldly; a line like Stockholm might sound simple to play (as it's not exactly all over the fretboard) but it's a real test when played with fingers like Chris does. B+H is the same, I find. As far as his sound goes, it might be because I've spent over 12 years playing his bass parts but he's definitely one of the more recognisable pop/rock players, much like Flea and Tim Commerford from RATM.
  8. HLTW was great. Not quite as unique a take on it as I'd hoped, but still really good. Dom seemed to be having a blast. Wouldn't mind if they brought this out live on a few occasions.
  9. Thought I’d throw my thoughts out there after a good few listens and now that the initial hype has simmered down: Algorithm: favourite song on the album, absolute god-tier Muse for me. It takes that 80s feel and puts the Muse spin of things so well; those piano flourishes, dramatic lyrics and soaring vocals all come together so well. It’s pretty much everything I could have hoped for. 10/10 The Dark Side: still love this, mostly for Matt’s brilliantly sincere vocal delivery. For me it’s the perfect blend the ‘old Muse’ (for lack of a better word) and their electronic style. That chorus is really strong. 9/10 Pressure: A good, fun track. Suffers from going on too long like Psycho did, I’m not sure the final chorus is necessary but ah well. Looking forward to seeing it live. 7/10 Propaganda: the robot is a little on the nose but I’ve certainly warmed to it. The rest of the song is absolute pop perfection. Love the way it progresses post-solo and builds to Matt’s belting, which I wasn’t expecting at all on the first listen. 9/10 Break It To Me: Jobby, you weren’t kidding when you mentioned the falsetto on this. It definitely took a while to click but whole song is just…the most interesting thing they’ve done in years. The descending arabian melody (with that awesome vocal effect), the almost spoken word verses and ethereal chorus make it a real highlight. Plus, the riff and Morello solo is absolute filth. 9/10 Something Human: I like this much more in the context of the album, as others have said it’s a nice breather. It’s a sweet little song and it's nice seeing them doing something so simple. 6.5/10 Thought Contagion: still find this just…bland and uninspired. I LOVE the pre-chorus but those chorus vocals have always really grated for some reason. It really drags too, despite being not all that long of a song. 4.5/10 Get Up And Fight: sticks out a bit but I’m okay with it, I enjoy them going all out with the pop-punk chorus as I’ve always been a sucker for them. I can see why some aren’t a fan of the Tove Lo vocals but I think they compliment the song pretty nicely. The deep personal meaning for Matt really shows as well, he sounds amazing. It’s never going to happen live in its current incarnation which is a shame. 7/10 Blockades: pretty by the numbers which might sound like a negative but I don’t intend it to be. Not much to say other than I love Dom’s drumming (there’s one seriously good fill that gets me everytime) and the thick bass tone but so far it isn’t one I’ve been desperate to listen to. Still like it though and should be good live. 6/10 Dig Down: hi, my name is James and I’m a fan of Dig Down. Sure it’s a lesser Madness but like Something Human I prefer it in the context of the album. Any kind of extended belt from Matt is a win for me and that long G4 still brings a smile to my face, the U2 fan in me is probably the reason why I enjoy the final ‘woahs’ so much. 6.5/10 The alternate version is absolute gold and an easy for me 8/10. The Void: great end to the album, echoing my personal fav RBS with those moody, atmospheric vibes. I actually like how it ends with more of a whimper than a bang. Once again Matt sounds fantastic, he’s really outdone himself on this one. 8.5/10
  10. It's likely going to be limited to songs in a drop D tuning as they can switch between those songs instantly, so Dead Star, Micro Cuts, New Born, Reapers etc. I hope they throw Assassin in there, even if it's just a couple of bars. The Debase riff is something else.
  11. Wow, these are fantastic! Love the colour and the The Void one in particular.
  12. Yeah sorry if it's been said before but do we know what the seating prices are yet for U.K. Shows?
  13. Any U2 song in particular? Nothing springs to mind other than some of their 90s stuff where Bono used a lot of falsetto.
  14. For the vocal experts out there...the highest note sung in the 'crea-TORR' harmonies, are they G5s? Thought it was my mind making them up in the album version but they seem a tad more present in the alternative version. They sounds marvellous.
  15. Aw, Matt said a little thank you on Instagram.
  16. Yes! I had the exact same thought, those drums at 1:09 as well
  17. This album has re-ignited my love for the band. Haven't felt this way since 2012 and I'm bloody loving it.
  18. Hoping it'll be on Spotify by the early hours of the morning so I can listen on the way to work tomorrow. Not gonna be able to swing by HMV till past 6pm otherwise fuuuu. Genuinely so excited now.
  19. Thanks. That's cool. The Dark Side really reminded me how much I love his softer falsetto notes and why Matt's falsetto is my favorite of any singer; it just has a silky smooth quality to it. Can't wait to pick up the album. Didn't think it would but the hype is well and truly back.
