  1. It's good on the album but I much the live versions eclipse it, it doesn't have the same punch as something like New Born or The Handler in their album versions. The same could be said for MK though to be fair, both are a bit thin but I just prefer MK in general.
  2. Listened to an album a day recently, not done that for years. 1. Black Holes and Revelations 2. Origin of Symmetry 3. Absolution 4. Simulation Theory 5. Showbiz 6. Drones 7. The 2nd Law 8. The Resistance - BHaR and OoS are interchangeable depending on mood. - Abso obviously has many outstanding moments but I do find it a bit of a slog, pacing wise. - I feel ST and Showbiz will be battling for 4th place forever but the low points of the latter are keeping it at 5th for now. - Drones has some of their best moments in recent times but also some of their very worst. - I like most of 2nd Law but it really tails off around the second half. - TR is just a bit...dull. Exo 1, 3 and MK Ultra are the only songs that really stand out for me.
  3. For the stadium gigs. 1. Algorithm 2. Psycho 3. The Dark Side 4. Map of the Problematique/Bliss 5. Break It to Me/Propaganda 6. The 2nd Law: Unsustainable 7. Interlude + Hysteria 8. Pressure 9. Supermassive Blackhole 10. Butterflies and Hurricanes 11. The 2nd Law: Isolated System/Drum and bass jam 12. Thought Contagion 13. Uprising (B-stage) 14. Dig Down (gospel version) 15. Something Human 16. Madness/Undisclosed Desires 17. Invincible/Sing For Absolution (Back to main stage) 18. Starlight 19. Time is Running Out (Encore) 20. The Void 21. Stockholm Syndrome>Assassin>Reapers>Handler>Dead Cuts 22. Take A Bow 23. Plug in Baby 24. Knights of Cydonia Invincible/SFA to be the ‘comeback’ song of this tour. Clocks in around two hours with the medley factored in. I wouldn’t say there’s anything ultra rare there (save for Invincible/SFA of course) but there’s a handful of fan/band favourites plus a couple of rotation spots for double nighters. Really struggled to think of any form of piano section for this tour and I reckon The Void works better as an encore opener.
  4. That's really interesting, I'd take that setlist in a heartbeat these days. Annoying they played more songs a few days later, mind.
  5. Wembley 2007 and 2010 (2nd night) really were spectacular. How come Nottingham 2006 is so low? I always had the impression the BHaR arena gigs were excellent, and wasn't that one of the few times they played the album in full?
  6. My gig ranking: (All-timers) Wembley 2007 (1st night) Shepherd’s Bush 2017 Wembley 2010 (2nd night) (Special) Barrowlands 2015 Etihad 2013 Manchester LCCC 2010 (Great) Leeds Festival 2011 Download 2015 Manchester O2 Academy 2015 Emirates night 2 2013 Coventry Ricoh 2013 Liverpool Echo 2009 O2 Arena night 4 2016 Wembley 2010 (night 1) (Good/Solid) Manchester Arena 2012 (night 2) Glasgow SECC 2009 O2 Arena Night 3 2016 Emirates night 1 2013 (Unremarkable) Manchester Arena 2016 (night 2) Glastonbury 2016 I think I’ll be slowing down considerably in the coming years. Interesting that only one of the Drones arena gigs made it into ‘great’ (which was down to seeing AP and Assassin for the first time), with Glasto 2016 being the weakest I’ve ever seen them…a lot of expectations for that one and imo it was a real misfire. Don't think I'll ever see a gig as utterly brilliant as those top 3 but to be honest, most of the gigs I've been to have all been so good fun with at least a good couple of really memorable moments.
  7. Setlist fm also has them down as playing Zero by Smashing Pumpkins and RATM's Freedom in the metal medley.
  8. I've paid that much attention but what's Morgan doing during Algorithm live? Could he not handle the synth or, dare I say it, just have that as a backing track? Spotlight on Matt as he begins on piano (with his guitar strapped on his back), moves to the front for the vocals/guitar parts and as he returns to the piano...passes the guitar to a tech? I don't believe Chris ever has. The only thing I can think of is him helping out with the Assassin intro but of course that's him using a guitar string on bass.
  9. The Bristol gig will be the smallest UK venue by some margin but that's it really. The 2013 Coventry Ricoh gig was great as it felt quite intimate for a 'big outdoor show', but it was still the same show as the others on that tour, rotated songs aside. Bristol will be the same as Manchester and London
  10. Yep. I thought they might go for Propaganda over BITM but maybe that's the one they're finding difficult to translate over live? Very early days of course.
  11. I had it in my mind they wouldn't try this live, so glad to be wrong. It sounds huuuuge.
  12. Yeah Chris popped out for a little bit but he was with his small army of kids (which was adorable) so no one really shouted for him to come over. Not really to be honest! Figured it'd probably be the one and only chance to speak to them so I just went for it He was really easy going so the conversation flowed pretty naturally from what I can remember. I forgot to mention RBS being my fav song but other than that it was pretty much a perfect encounter! The thing that still gets me is how he asked if I wanted to get a picture and laughed when I was like "hang on, I should really be asking you that!"
  13. I got a quick handshake and hello with Dom but spent a decent amount of time with Matt at SBE. I know they say you should never meet your heroes but he was super friendly and chatty...he even asked if they played many of my voted songs. It was great hearing him talk about Showbiz and Assassin and he made time for everyone, which was lovely. He's the same height as me and that took me back a little, I always thought he was taller. Much harder to chat to Chris (missed out on the football matches in 2010) but I'd love to chat bass with him sometime.
  14. I just find it strange Matt never game them a go when his voice was at its strongest. Still sounds good now, mind.
  15. Always irked me as well. I believe he started singing 'gonna' on the US tour last year? I remember someone mentioning they have a an extra backing vocal track going on now so Matt sings it correctly so it doesn't sound jarring.
  16. Congrats on the drumstick, Jobby! I'm surprised they didn't play Dig Down or Something Human tonight.
  17. Forgot to say how much I enjoyed Chris playing Matt's parts in Algorithm on bass, worked really well. Great to see Matt hammering that piano as well!
  18. I know there's been a couple of gigs already but it feels like this tour cycle has 'officially' kicked off. Bit of a setlist shuffle and the tour debuts sounded excellent. Edit: totally forgot about Showbiz too, otherwise known as Chris' birthday song haha.
  19. I can understand this. I'm extremely lucky to have heard all the medley songs in full at one point or another and tbh didn't think we'd be getting something like Assassin or Dead Star again, especially at the stadium shows. I'll take it but I get why many would much prefer two or three full songs instead of bits and pieces.
  20. Sure, it wasn't as seamless as I'd hoped it would be. Maybe/hopefully they'll continue to work on it.
  21. I quite like it, though New Born was a little jarring with the piano. I'm sure it's a lot more fun when you're there.
  22. I think that's going to be a 'proper' tour sort of thing, for the arena/stadium dates next year.
