  1. I do have to admit I was filming a lot with my phone, but still headbanging and singing along to my best abilities! There were some French musers sat behind me and they were singing along to the melodies and guitar parts. My whole section of the crowd was very lively, and Dom Anderson stood on the stairs right next to me for a minute to watch the show.
  2. Just my two cents here, but I went to both nights and loved it! This was my 4th and 5th time seeing them and I personally think their energy was great. Night one on floor I had a great time jumping about and they were close enough to see Chris' tattoos and Matt's sweat on his forehead. Everyone around me had a great time. Night 2 I had seats and everyone stood up the entire show, clapping, headbanging, singing along. I even saw a mini circle of death on the floor during Knights. As for setlists, I know that they could be better/longer/more varied. But I was still pretty happy that with two shows I've seen every song on Drones live except for Defector and Aftermath. I wish they would play some of my personal favorites (SS, MoTP), but for people seeing them for the first time or for casual fans, the setlist covers all their bases. I dragged my boyfriend along with me and it was his first time and he thought it was amazing. He said that it's obvious they put a lot of effort into the production and the performance. There's room for improvement (lots in regards to variation of the setlists) but I absolutely loved the production. It was stunning from both the floor and the seats. The majority of people enjoyed themselves imo and so did I.
  3. Do you have any experience with the flat rate lots around Staples or do you usually just go for the garages/lots that they own?
  4. I'm also wondering about parking, is it better to buy the all day passes for $25-30 (from the Staples Center site) or find one of those cheaper lots in the area? I'm planning on queuing early.
  5. Watching It In the virtual reality app made it way cooler, it's the technology I wish they had available when they released those 360 videos from the resistance stadium tour.
  6. Scored GA because my lovely roommate bought them for me, but I was looking to get seats so if anyone wants to trade 2 lower loge for 2 standing hit me up! (I know this should technically be posted in musebay but )
  7. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I was able to get through on the pre-sale instead of today. AXS is such a joke, and not only for Muse. I was trying to get tickets for another show and on their website it says tickets are available and then when you go to purchase it says they're sold out. UGH hopefully if they announce more dates they will have another pre-sale. On a side-note, I've been hearing commercials on Alt 98.7 teasing some special Muse news in the upcoming weeks. Is it just announcing more gigs?
  8. I had the complete opposite experience, I didn't get tickets for the Mayan but this time around was so easy for me, I got my GA ticket no problem. Obviously the venue size is way different but I was only looking for one ticket both times and had no luck with AXS. Anyways, I'm so happy for everyone who got tix! If they add more dates who else will be attempting multiple dates? Also is anyone else going solo for GA?
  9. Managed to snag a standing ticket! I thought this was going to be horrible like for the Mayan but it turned out ok, sorry to all those having errors.
  10. I think my favorite moment would have to be the buildup to the release of TR. I had just started liking them at the end of 2008 and then I got sucked into the muse fandom and when they did the whole treasure hunt thing I was fully involved. I remember staying up/waking up at ridiculous hours to see who got the keys and then refreshing pages on the forums like mad to see what people were doing or how to solve the puzzles. The whole fandom came together for that treasure hunt and it was loads of fun and a great way to build up anticipation for the album.
  11. I can't rank with numbers because so many factors contribute to how much I enjoy a song, so this is all just words. Dead Inside - Was a bit shocking the first time I listened to it because of the little organ-y bits(?). The second half is what really made me like it, I love Matt's vocals on the last verse and "the greatest guy" lyrics always makes me laugh now since so many people bashed it. It's not my favorite song but still very good, kind of like madness (same structure with the buildup) but better. Psycho - This is my least favorite on the album mostly because I love the riff but not the song. It drags a bit and I think it would have been better if it was shorter. Also "your ass belongs to me now" is kind of cringe-y. Matt has a lot of cringe-y lyrics but the way that one is emphasized and repeated makes it worse. However, it is much better live than on record. Mercy - I love when Muse goes pop, and I also loved Starlight so of course I love this one. On first listen, I was disappointed because I thought it was going to be heavy and dark, but that was just my own wishful thinking. After another listen I really loved it, the synths in the chorus and the catchy piano melody are great. Also very fun to sing in the shower/car It's a good combo of BHAR/Abso/TR sounds. Reapers - Absolutely love this song. The bassline in the verses, falsetto in the chorus, the guitar solo, everything about this song is great. Even though I agree the outro is very similar to freedom, I think it was a great way to capture their live energy/sound on a record as best as they could. Also I love Matt's wailing in the outro as well. The Handler - Best song on the album. I knew it upon first listen that it would be one of my favorites, not only from this record but their whole discography and that hasn't happened since Exogenesis. It's heavy and dark and Matt's voice is incredible. Love everything about it. Defector - A solid song, has grown on me quite a bit. I'm a big queen fan so I like the vocal bits. Very anthemic, I think it will translate very well live. Guitar parts remind me of Survival. Revolt - I know everyone hates it but I love it. It's very uplifting and energetic and catchy. Has a Killers vibe and I like the tempo changes. Aftermath - Still growing on me. Someone pointed out that it sounds like a song written for a wedding which I think is true. The more I listen the more I like it. The Globalist - I see so many people who are angry because it sounds like Morricone and that the last part was a rearrangement of something else but I think Matt wanted to pay tribute to those people which I see nothing wrong with. The middle section could have been longer and the end is kind of USoE which isn't my favorite but overall it's a nice piece of music. It was very overhyped though, which is why I was initially disappointed. Definitely not the same vibe as CE, which I think is much better than this, but it's not a bad song. Drones - Loved it. Questionable way to end the album but it leaves you with an uneasy feeling which is what they were aiming for. Shows off Matt's voice beautifully. Overall, I love the album. Aftermath, Psycho, and The Globalist are where it kind of dips, but it's solid and mostly cohesive. It's better than T2L and TR because I really enjoy the majority of the songs, not just one or two. Plus, Reapers and The Handler are becoming all-time favorites for me. Matt's vocals also sound amazing, even if some of his lyrics are cheesy and cringe-worthy. Its not perfect but they moved in the right direction and made me excited for the future.
  12. I think the first half up to The Handler is really strong, but the latter half falls short of expectations. I agree that the heavy part in Globalist should have been much longer and the weird balled-y end should have been cut short. With the heavy section, it feels like you're just getting into it and then its over. I also think it was a mistake for Matt to call it the sequel of CE, made me expect way too much and something different than what it was. Contrary to popular opinion, I actually like Revolt (I liked Big Freeze and Guiding Light too so not really a surprise). It reminds me of the killers. Defector is also good, will be fun live. Aftermath is very cheesy, but it'll probably grow on me. Drones is just Matt showing off his voice, which is a good thing for me. Sounds gorgeous and leaves you with a weird feeling after the album ends and I like that. The lyrics were making me face palm all the way through but that's nothing new For me, this is definitely their best since BHAR but only because the first half is so strong. I just wish the second half lived up to the hype.
  13. Yeah they had great energy and were on top form (even if the crowd wasn't) Plus the sound was awesome, clear and loud! I saw little pockets of musers rocking out like me throughout the crowd great pictures too jess! Where were you seated?
