i use a lot of cad programs tbh, they're not free in the strictest sense either, but you can get student licences etc. If he's in any sort of a design course, unless he's in a module where they teach cad programs, it's a creative hinderence to use them, and i feel very strongly against using them for creative purposes. Remember, Models are top, Cad is flop.
