  1. Ah, sun is good. It's been raining on and off here in Hawaii for the past day or two. I like the rain, though, so I don't mind it too much. :)

  2. It's a shame your friends are so put off by Matt's voice -- there's so much more to Muse than vocals. I suppose mainstream audiences are accustomed to relying a lot on vocals to enjoy a song, and usually have a hard time accepting falsetto vocals. Especially the American mainstream audience because Muse seems to be extremely popular everywhere else! I'm thinking it's because Americans are so absorbed in having the most masculine of males and the most feminine of females dominate its pop culture.

But anyway, before this turns into a sociology discussion... maybe try playing a Muse song that doesn't have as much falsetto in it and see what your friends say? For some reason, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" comes to mind. He sounds pretty sexy in that song, and it's a familiar tune as well.

Yeah, I found that iMac/iTunes visualizer ad not too long ago on YouTube! I vaguely remember seeing that ad when it originally aired... I guess that's why "Sunburn" sounded familiar.

I live out in Waianae, so spot-on with the rural area guess! The unexpected fireworks last night was thoroughly annoying. I yelled out my window, like that would've done any good! I'm a bit far from the road for them to hear me! And I can't believe people would have a surplus of fireworks, especially illegal ones. Shouldn't they be saving their money for more important things? That's another thing that annoys me.

I asked my sister about her ex singing along with Muse in the car and she said he was a Muse listener. So turns out it wasn't out of dislike of the band. :D

  3. *shares the gift of Matt*

    A custom Muse-anything would be kick-ass!

Haha, I recently converted my sister! I'll sometimes catch her listening to Muse and singing along in her room!

I'm sorry to hear that your friends make fun of Muse. :( My sister's ex got a kick out of imitating Matt's falsetto one time in the car. Whether he was mocking them or enjoying them, I couldn't really tell.

The interns at my full-time job only know Muse from either Twilight, Guitar Hero, or the new Watchmen trailer. (Or let's face it, me.) One of my coworkers recognized Starlight and TIRO when I was playing my music the other day and said they were both good songs. *shrugs* But I'm relieved to know a few people at my weekend job that are into Muse.

In other unrelated news, my neighbors are retards. Aerials. Nine days after New Year's Eve. Good job. Not.

  4. :D It's really no problem! I'm just happy to get to spread the Muse love with someone else who's just as enthusiastic about them as I am -- and someone else on this island, no less!

How about Matt Bellamy in a gift box? That would be pretty epic! ;)

  5. I did. I put the Photoshop question in a separate comment but I realized I could just add on the question to my previous post by editing it.

I mailed your DVDs this afternoon! I had to put both Hullabaloo discs on dual-layer DVDs because they couldn't fit on the standard ones. They played fine on my DVD player so hopefully they should also work on yours.

I also included a disc with movie files of the three concerts that you can play on your computer or iPod. Since I was already burning you HAARP that way, I figured I may as well throw in Hullabaloo and Glasto too. The files all have chapter markers, so you can skip around (after enjoying the concerts in their entirety, or course ;) )!

  6. I use a copy of Photoshop CS3 that I got through my Mon.-Fri. job doing websites. I posted a few I made on my LiveJournal page. I need to make more funny ones!

    Do you use Photoshop too?

  7. I tried making you a copy of HAARP but the disc is copy protected. :( What I can do is make you a file that you can play on your computer.

And yeah, that's probably my favorite avatar I've made! Dom's facial expression really does look like Gollum in yours!

  8. I'm doing okay! Work is boring because there's nothing to do! Probably not something to complain about hehe. How are you?

  9. Mine was okay. Watched HAARP then went outside and watched my sister and her friend light up some fireworks. Funny how soon we had to adjust from the break! And thanks for the invite! Will check out your website!

  10. They finally fixed the a/c a few months ago, but the combination of body heat and leaving the front doors open pretty much cancels that out. It's freezing in the morning though!

And did you buy HAARP or did you need a copy of it as well? Right now, I'm burning Hullabaloo, Absolution Tour, and Making of Absolution.

  11. No prob! I'll burn them for you in the next few days so you should be getting them in the mail sometime next week. :musesign:

I wish more people drove the extra two miles to go to one of the other Apple Stores so at least things would be more balanced. I like being kept busy in a store like ours, but we just need a bigger one to move around in!

  12. Okay, I'll burn you those DVDs and mail them to you! And yep, I work at the crazy Ala Moana store! Just on the weekends though... stop by and say "hi" if you're ever around there!

  13. Hi! Thank you for the holiday greetings! How was your new year celebration?

  14. PM me your mailing address and I can send you DVD-Rs of each concert. Do you want versions for your iPod and computer too, or would you be able to rip the DVDs yourself? And let me know if you want to upgrade to an iPod Touch, which has the larger screen. I could hook you up with a friends/family discount. It's not much - 15 percent - but it's something. =)

  15. Do you want HQ versions of the concerts? I converted them for my iPhone so they should also work on the iPod. And/or I could burn you the DVDs so you can watch them on TV (yes!).

It's hard for me to pick a favorite. I like HAARP because of how epic it is. HAARP was actually how I first got into Muse. I bought it on a whim, then I picked up all their other albums after that. =) Glasto is also epic but I agree, the DVD tracklist is lacking. (How can you leave out SS and the stage trashing at the end?!) And then I love Hullabaloo for its raw performance, it has more of the older material, and the bonus DVD is entertaining to watch.

I'm letting one of my coworkers at the Apple Store borrow my copy of HAARP because I just learned that he LOVES Muse. Then I found out that another one of my coworkers also loves Muse -- she said to me, and I quote, "We should hang out more!" -- and got to see them live in L.A. a few years ago. So lucky... I want to see them live someday. Even if I have to fly somewhere to do it!

  16. Man, seriously! Every weekend between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve, there's usually one or two aerials that would go off. So irritating. Aerials are ridiculous because you can pretty much tell where they're coming from. You might as well hold up a big-ass sign that says, "Arrest me officer!" Of course, that would require the HPD to do more, um, arresting. =P

We ended up watching HAARP because my sister wanted to see the whole thing. (Yes, I'm spreading the Muse virus! Even copied all my Muse songs to her laptop!) I also have Hullabaloo, the Absolution Tour (Glasto) and the making of Absolution, all of them downloaded and burnt. (shhhh...) I don't have an all-region DVD player so even if I bought them off eBay, I wouldn't be able to watch them. Do you have all of their DVDs too?

  17. Hey Kylee! I've been doing great, keeping busy with work and hanging out with friends. I wanted to go to the movies today but it looks like I'm gonna be home with the family and enduring my neighbors' crazy propane bombs, ugh. I'm gonna try to ninja my way to the TV as soon as my dad gets sick of Nat Geo's "Dog Whisperer" marathon and pop in one of the Muse DVDs in celebration of the new year. We'll light up some of our fountains later tonight. I'm not a fan of the loud stuff lol.

Yeah, I guess Hawaii's one of the last places in the world to get to New Year's, huh? Damn time zones. Happy new year! =)

So how about you? Gonna be doing anything special in celebration?

  18. Thank you for your festive artwork! Merry Christ"Matt" and a Happy New Year to you too! Or in Hawaiian: Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! Or in Tagalog: Maligayang pasko!

And here's to a new year with what's looking like a new Muse album! Yes! :musesign:

  19. I was training for my job at Apple, so I was in the San Jose area. You should totally get the HAARP album! Then go to Cali! Hehehe =)

  20. It started with a conversation with some people I was job training with in California. Muse was a band I was meaning to get in to for a while—I knew a few people who liked them in high school—so I got the HAARP album, realized how awesome they were, and got all their other albums. =)

  21. Good question. Maybe they got too cool for even the coolest band in school. ;-) Funny how we both asked questions related to their time in school.

  22. That's what I was thinking. Not to be mean, but probably the only sport I could see him playing. =p

  23. I'm doing good, just keeping busy with work. So how'd you get into Muse?

  24. Lucky you got to see them live! It's hard to choose a favorite song... right now, I'd say "Stockholm Syndrome." That guitar riff is badass. And I submitted a question but it wasn't chosen in the final top 30. I asked Matt what sports he played in school, since he mentioned in an interview that he played sports, but never said which ones.

  25. I wish. Of course, Muse has never been here before but who knows, maybe they'll show up one day. Their next tour, I'd be willing to fly up to California to see them. We'll see. =) I take it you've seen them live?
