really? we thought it was a great set of gigs to play, we thoroughly enjoyed playing them all, and the turn out was very good (packed every time) for all the stages.
Haha it's because it's now the only venue you can see live, local bands in Lincoln

I wrote this song about a year and a half ago, just after I released my third album. However, because I recorded it on my recording studio, I wanted to retry with Garageband.
Took me a day, and it's still not COMPLETELY finished (need to add backing vocals), but it's got about five different guitar parts, three bass, drums, four vocals (for compression), Piano, Synth, and strings.
Anyway, yeah... looking for feedback to improve it, as I hope to make a music video for it at college next term, which would be cool.

Ah that sucks
It actually went surprisingly well!
We were in a TINY venue (the band had a corner, literally lol - the previous venue used by the organizers was shut down due to the credit crunch, so it was all they could find. They had this reasonably big band on, too (that had the venue listed on all their promotion stuff) playing in this grotty little pub hahaha - what a disappointment for them) but with it being small, we fitted in just nicely with our two acoustic guitars, and since we were basically in a little seating area thing (you know those little seating cubby things you get at places like Pizza Hut and McDonalds - with a table or two in the middle and one big cushion-chair thing around the outside?) so people were sitting really close to us. It was intimate and friendly and just generally quite nice - they were understanding because we were like "Our drummer dropped out yesterday but we thought we should still play you something - sorry to kill the buzz though!". But yeah. It was good... As you can probably tell, because I'm going on about it

haha my band has a gig tomorrow and our drummer pulled out yesterday. Yay.

i quite liked this track, i dont know what you did with the mix but it seems to get very quiet and loud between the verses and chorus, you may need to use more compression, the solo is too low in the mix, but one thing that is great is the drum mix, i always stuggle mixing drums cause i can never decide what i want to be the most audible in the mix.
the song is great i like the chord progression, the synths are great and the effects are sweet.
do you do any live shows?

With the mixing, I basically took everything down a little bit in the verses, and then brought it up in the choruses to give it a more "explosive" sounds for the choruses. There are probably better ways of doing this with compression, as you said, but I only do this as a hobby and have no real idea what I'm doing... so it's all experimental for me.
Another thing, possibly, could be that the bass also goes up an octave in the verses too... just a thought... I'm not really sure... haha.
And I do a few live shows, but only locally with my band (where I have to share the set with the songs by the band, and not just my own music). I wish I could do more though :\ Unfortunately, that's one of the downsides of working solo.

I was thinking to myself today "I love Map of the Problematique" and remembered that I had used an old chord progression on an album a few years ago that I was thinking of doing something with again... Anyway, I recorded something and with Map of the Problematique in mind, I exaggerated it a little and this is the result:
I'm quite pleased with how it's come out, considering it's nothing like my normal music at all.

I haven't posted on this board in a while, but a lot of you peeps still know me. Anyways recently I have been working on ridiculous, epic emo music with a friend. Our whole goal is to be as generic as possible, but by trying to do so we ended up becoming somewhat original. Anyways a rough mix of our MOST EPIC song is up at:

I liked it, although the crash cymbal (I think it was) was a bit loud, making it all a little bit trebly.Could have done with a heavier bass drum line, but still good anyway!

I was fed up of all my new music sounding like a Muse-wannabe so I did a new song in a style similar to my older music. I'm quite happy with it... even if it is only a demo. (waiting to get Logic Studio before I do anything for a proper release)

At least you didn't play live to a backing track of Garageband drum loops... I hope...
Trust me, it's not good.
My band did this last week and in the songs with the garageband loops, we fucked up miserably; they were too bassy to hear them...
The drum tracks generated by the Zoom drum machine on my recording studio were fine! Just the Garageband ones...
So yeah... word of warning there, I guess... If everyone hadn't been drunk, I think we would have had bottles thrown at us.
Your music isn't too bad... although not really my thing, to be honest.

I listened to about half of it. The piano sound really bugged me. It seemed far too bright, especially compared to the heaviness of the rest of the parts. I feel like you could be doing something more interesting with the piano part's rhythm as well.
That was, unfortunately, a problem with garageband and my Midi file; it took both piano lines and made them one (D:<) so I couldn't control the "right hand" and "left hand" tracks individually. I'll sort it for the final thing though.
And I'm sure I can work something out. Thanks for your feedback

Currently no vocals, but this is what I've got so far of my new demo pencilled as "Historia" (name will most likely change for final release)
Sorry if it's quiet; Garageband likes to mess up the sound when I export tracks by being all "Normalizing" about it all. Grrr. Why can't it just export it how I hear in the program? Anyway, that's another story.
Edit: Oh and I know there are a few harmonies that are a bit off. I'll fix that for the final version (Garageband was getting REALLY laggy and I couldn't be bothered re-importing the sibelius midi again because it takes quite a while to get it all sorted after that)

And the vocals are a little bit quiet, I know. Tis only a demo so I don't forget how it's meant to go, but I like feedbackz.
Also, the strings sound like crap because it's only Garageband's synth's, and they suck. But I'll be using Logic for the final thing.
All feedback appreciated.

I mean, I've always liked it but I never really wanted to play it more than any other Muse song before.
