  1. Cheers :) Have a Happy New Year too

  2. Thank you :) Have a Happy New Year yourself.

  3. Thanks very much :)

It was a pretty decent birthday in the end... some good cake, and fun with bizarre friends. Haha. Happy New Year to you as well

  4. Well... if you can't laugh at the situation :chuckle:

  5. Thank you :)

Hope you have a good new year's yourself.

  6. And a happy early New Year to you too (its also early Happy Birthday - 31/12 is my birthday) :)

Hope you had a good Christmas

  7. No, no, its quite alright - if you're busy your busy. :) How'd your exams go?

Ooo that's cool. I went to the waxwork musuem its adjoined too but it was closed for refurbishment. I think.... but yeah - the expense is lethal. It was expensive when times were good and now in times like now the expense is insane. I'm amazed when I see the people who are coming from abroad to see Muse at Reading and Leeds Festivals, particulary those who were also at Stade de France and Wembley.

If I go Reading its my 3rd time seeing Muse and its another biggie show - previous shows were in the O2 Arena (20,000) and Wembley (85,000). Those places are absolutely massive... although weirdly Wembley didn't feel as big as I thought. Mainly cos half the stadium was occupied by Muse's staging.

Ah the guitar thing sounds nice. :) I wish I could do that sort of thing... I once dreamt I could play the piano in Butterflies and Hurricanes but if I came to a piano now I'd probably suck. I can play the drums for that one so that's good enough haha.

  8. Bit of a waste of time really

Ah sweet. Its an alright country England but I guess familiarity makes you wanna go explore places outside. Some places, like parts of London, are pretty sweet and nice places. Portugal sounds like a lovely place to visit. Its expensive though... not as bad as some nations like Sweden or Norway, but not exactly cheap. That's one thing I'd change I guess.

Id love to play guitar and piano, but I'm a pretty good drummer. I'm like some drummers who tap out drum rhythms even when they're not playing, which is something people do find annoying. Even if proper drumming is deafening without protection. My dad said if I want to learn guitar seriously I should learn from a tutor, like my cousin did before he started his band.

    You seen Muse live?

  9. I think they were desperate for teachers and couldn't just not have a teacher, as the only other foreign language teacher for us had a French class to teach simultaneously. It was bizarre, and there was a proper revolving-door slot of teachers for a while. And yeah possibly, although mercifully I didn't fail no others.

Portugal is one of the many countries I would love to visit - it does seem like a nice place with some cool stuff to go check out, and certainly weather-wise its normally much better than here, particulary in summer when it rains half the time.

That does sound really random weatherwise, but its been bizarre weather here in England too this year. We had the driest spring since records began (March and April were bright, sunny and dry, and the only real rain in spring was at the end of May) but now its June and the rain is now coming more often (albiet not in big massive ones) - today its quite cloudy and it was raining when I got up. The weather forecasty people said it would be a very warm June, but its not been that warm really so far. Maybe it'll pick up in July...

Can you play a musical instrument?

  10. I think it happened that way because they couldn't find a teacher over Christmas holidays for it so they had to improvise. Badly. It was absolutely crazy. In the end they found someone who was actually doing a French exam at the time, although I think that was to be able to teach both as she already knew Spanish. As for Geography, I'm not sure why the attitude. Maybe didn't care's an exaggeration but it seemed that way at the time.

When it came to the grades I got the best mark in History which was a pleasant surprise, as opposed to the fail in Geography.

I dunno, maybe. Though from what I've heard Portugal does seem like a nice place... at the least certainly a much warmer place than here.

  11. ... Of course it would - I guess it wouldn't exist here in England, whereas something like English literature would, and it would be different again in Spain or France.

What happened with us in Geography is that we had a change of teacher in January about 5 months before the exam but his replacement got stressed out so much he had to leave, and his replacement just didn't care. It was so bizarre, although not as bizarre as Spanish - our teacher left then too and we had about 5 teachers, and at least 3/4 of them didn't know a word of the language. As for my own memory fail it was weird - I thoguht I did well enough when I finished but I was mistaken.

What's it like there right now? Is it good in Portugal?

  12. It was hilarious because of what happened to my friend - he failed his mock exam at the foundation level, so my school put him in at a higher level for the proper one. Not exactly sure why they thought that was a brilliant idea. My own fail was probably avoidable but I forgot most of what I'd learned - odd considering I remembered everything else.

Portugese Literature? Didn't know there was such a subject...

  13. Yes - hoping to go to university in September and almost done (mercifully).

That always happens with exams, and revising for exams. And fair enough - we didn't get that, so I promptly just did whatever it was. Though I must've done well considering I passed all my exams... well except the hilarious fail that was Geography.

Still, good luck with your exams n' all.

  14. I hope so too :)

Yeah - that was where I was 2 years ago when I had my exams and had a week off between when school ended and when exams properly started... although I spent that week daydreaming about love, feathers and ice-cream. At least I think that's how I spent time I should've spent revising.

  15. I feel really ill - stupid flu.

Still, college is over soon. I'm thankful for small mercies I suppose. :p

  16. No worries :) How you doing?

  17. Hi thanks for the add :)

  18. It does seem to be spreading, yes. I'd be very annoyed if I had it considering I live in rural England, and the green flowery stuff that may well cause it is everywhere here. Which is why a lot of people I know aren't too impressed when they get it. Nevermind - I suppose I should count my blessings in that respect.

Yeah - I applied for iTunes Festival but I doubt it. I guess best bet is to wait until any arena shows are announced (even if it means longer to travel) or hope someone has to sell - I don't want to spend double face value if I don't have too.

Yeah that's true. I only have the Best Of plus Can't Stop, but haven't really listened too it much. Too addicted to the other stuff to listen I guess :)

  19. Alright. Not spectacular but better than staying home and being bored of your skull by my brothers. Ah man... hayfever sucks. I think I get lucky - I half expect it even though I've never had it.

That sounds a lot like the UK - expensive train prices, hotels, etc. Apparently train ticket prices in the UK are Europe's most expensive, so its annoying over here too. It'd be easy if I was living in London or Birmingham, but I don't think I'm keen on living in a big city yet. Maybe post-uni.

Yup - I got that with other bands like the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Not quite sure who to see though - budget means I can't afford that many. M'oh well - it is a recession I guess. As for Suede I forgot about browsing because I'm so uber-tired (I only got up about 20 minutes ago).

As for Foos, yeah. I'm still annoyed I couldn't get a ticket to their show in a venue just 10 miles from my house because noone was avaliable to buy some tickets. I'm hoping I can get one... but I'm not confident.

  20. Fair enough. Its nice to move on up sometimes too.

Pulp haven't played any shows since 2002 so its been a little long while, and I read somewhere U2's last festival appearance was in the mid 1980s.

Not really I suppose - if I was I'd be going to more than I do. Though if I had the money I'd be at somewhere like Reading or T in the Park for the whole weekend. I should really look for employment... although I'm not in a rush at the moment.

Ah cool. I'll check em out later - could well be 'hype up music' as I got invited to some friends' birthday tonight. Oh well - should be alright. I like the idea they sound like a grittier Muse though - that could be something to check out. Sounds an infinite times more innovative than Oasis in any case. I've never listened to The Smiths, although some bands and the odd comedian I listen too/watch have been influenced by them.

Er... I'd say Times Like These, The Pretender and Best Of You are pretty good starting tracks for the Foos. They're all pretty heavy stuff, although Times Like These does make a good acoustic song when it has been played in that style. It took me a while to dig them but the song likes are coming fast at the moment.

  21. I'm wondering how to do things - either see Muse, Elbow, Interpol, Friendly Fires and Frank Turner at Reading, who are all playing on the Sunday and are all bands I can dig, or go to see Foo Fighters and The Killers/Scissor Sisters at their own gigs. Although the Foos show in nearby MK are sold out I know someone who has a ticket but is seeing them at the Isle of Wight Festival so I'm hoping they might sell me their ticket.

I know the odd song by Pulp and Blur, and they sound awesome, so I'm hoping or imagining Suede have that similar rocky Britpop sound.

Nah you're mixing me up with someone else. I'm going to uni, although as an extension of college as something about moving away and incurring massive debts isn't a propsecct I looked forward too. You still teach, right?

  22. Well hello there :) I'm good how you doing?

Wish I was going - I spent all my money on DVD and Blurays (I could've got them for much cheaper elsewhere) so I couldn't afford a full weekend Reading ticket, which annoyed me considering the line up is one of my favourites of the festivals. I can afford to go to just see Muse but I'm still deciding wether or not to go there, or to see Foo Fighters at MK and see one of many other shows that are on. Decisions, decisions... yay.

I only know 2 Pulp tracks but they are good songs (Common People and Disco 2000). I don't know much about Suede - can you reccomend a song for a noob? :)

And yes - we have a very expensive city here in London. Apparently here in the UK things get cheaper the more north you go, although I haven't noticed. Maybe I would if I ended up living there...

  23. We have more than one in the UK but I think it's not the case in other countries. Depends on different territories methinks. I bet there's more than one in the US of A.

Hmmm - it seems to be arriving in the UK. I feel like a cold's coming. S'not good :(

Hmmmm - they did look like very cool shows on YouTube.

I think the problem for my neighbours was the fact my kit was in a room next to their house. But they're more relaxed since I moved outside. I think they were even cool when I chose to play instead of watching England-USA at the World Cup - I'd got very annoyed with people I was gonna see it with that I decided to avoid it. Did you watch any of Germany's matches at the tournament (they certainly did better than England... as beating them 4-1 indicates lol)

I haven't but I've heard the video is very strange - sepia, piano when there isn't one in the song, the band leading little kids in song... it all sounds very surreal. I'm not really a KoLite though - I prefer other, cooler stuff like Muse

  24. Cool stuffs. :) I've only heard 'Schools Out' by Alice Cooper but Ih ave heard he went on stage with a snake which sounded pretty cool... until it pooped all over the stage that is mind. That must've been so terrifying for the neighbours, yeah  Still, that would be a cool stuff :)

I think Beyonce was the MTV World Stage thing across Europe. But yeah - it has gone downhill. There are music MTV channels but the main MTV is just completely awful nowdays. Oh well - there's always the internet.

Kaiser Chiefs are an all-the-songs-sound-similar band really - I don't hear it with Franz but I do like listening to them. Haven't seen them live though - missed out on tickets to shows on their UK tour last October. Would've been the smallest show I've been too but the smallest show - the smallest show I've seen was about 13,000 people (apart from some live bands in a hotel bar). Nevermind - November provides the smallest with a 3,000 gig and there's always the next tour with Franz Ferdinand when album 4 comes out.

Very nice. I'd hate to be my neighbours - I play drums and regulary have an hours practice. They had to be moved to a purpose-built 'extra-room' in our garden because they complained about the noise. I always find it interesting and impressive how the dsound of drums seems to differ between on record and in a live venue.
