  1. Gotta say i'm still overwhelmed by this show...

I don't want muse to be their own tribute act but bloody hell they ought to do more shows like that again, good to get back to their roots and connect with the die hard audience. not enough thanks to the band for this gig.

yes yes yes. They could do this gig 4 times over but with a completely different set of deep cuts/ genuine rarities/unreleased songs each time, and all the gigs would be awesome.

It was a thrilling gig. All due thanks to Muse, and to for the board for lobbying.

  2. A belated massive thank you for the kind advice so many of you gave me when I was desperately trying to get a ticket for SBE after failing to get one on the presale day, general release day etc etc. After weeks of trying and just missing out lots of times, I got one ticket from someone on this site late afternoon on the day. So glad I'd decided not to give up on getting a ticket. Words can't fully explain how much it meant to me...the truly unbelievable set list, electric atmosphere, brilliantly crazy crowd. For me, it was even better than Earls Court and RAH (both brilliant memories). So grateful that Muse kept their promise and played the songs you all voted for. Still reliving it by watching YouTube videos! 😊

your persistence paid off. Good on yer :)

  3. Indeed.

I went to Earls Court 2004 - peak Muse you (and I frankly) might say. It was a special show back then and it's an even more special show in many ways given how Muse have changed since then.

    BUT.

I enjoyed Reading 2011 equally as much, if not more, and I could say the same for Download 2015 and SBE 2017.

I also went to these gigs and agree about Earls's Court '04. R&L was marred for me because some of the crowd near me didn't know half the Origin songs and lost interest, so the crowd atmosphere wasn't as great as it could have been.

I'd add Wembley 2007 to the list of great 'big' gigs.

But SBE was bloody epic, and surpassed my expectations completely.

I'd love to see them do Absolution from start to finish. That'd be my dream gig.

  4. Knights was the only one I was a bit meh on, just 'cos I don't really like the song and thought this gig should have a different closer for once. Not enough to moan about in the context of the night though, and I still didn't leave early (despite being on the very edge of passing out at that point).

Dude, you know Butterflies was voted into the top 10, right? Of course it was well received :chuckle:

I can't accept that fans chose PIB, Hysteria, B&H & KOC, I bet that was them instead, hearing those was a let down, whoever chose those needs to be shot, twice... it was a top gig but not that special...

...They could have done this gig much better but they couldn't resist playing 4 song's they have rinsed like my washing machine, 18 song set list, they are old...

...People like you wished you had seen them when I did, you are the lot that made them into a Pop Act not me I made them big... where were you in September 1999 when I heard & saw Muse...

Yes I know Butterflies was voted in, that's not my point. It was one of the 4 songs that 005 complained about getting, as above. He didn't receive those 4 songs well, and his comments have been pretty vitriolic, triggering a lot of reaction in this thread. That includes Serpent Satellite's post, to which I was responding ;)

My point is, most of us (almost all?) were very grateful for what we got. imo.

  5. Tell me again about US people asking for ONE SONG being entitled whiners.

If people saw that SBE setlist... Showbiz, fucking Glorious... and were upset because they also got KoC, they can fuck right off.

tbf it's not 'people' upset about getting Knights at SBE it's one person in particular who is being an entitled whiner (and I agree should go FO). The overwhelming majority of people, including many from this board who attended the gig, were delighted with the setlist at SBE. When Knights, PIB, Hysteria, and Butterflies were played they fitted right in with the vibe at the gig, and were greeted rapturously at the time.

It was a great gig, and we were really lucky to be there. I think that is the sentiment expressed by the vast majority of those who were there.

  6. You two should get together

People like you wished you had seen them when I did, you are the lot that made them into a Pop Act not me I made them big but couldn't care less about them now because they are boring in terms of the music they are making & predictable set lists.

I was lucky to get a ticket & even more so to get Stalls, I don't have time for any LP tour of theirs, even when they did Reading in 2011 Mr Matt Brexit Bellamy couldn't even sing certain parts of Hyper Music because he was errrrrrr? What Old? Rubbish!! How could he not have the voice.

lol Troll no, Old Skool, where were you in September 1999 when I heard & saw Muse..........I'd love to know. I love when people say I've seen them 20 times etc................from which year?, yea exactly :D

  7. Thinking about this a bit more - I think it was actually the ABSENCES in the set that made it even better. There was no Uprising, TIRO, Starlight, Undisclosed, Madness, etc, to look back on and think 'well that was a waste' or 'yup, definitely haven't seen that one 13 times'.

Yeah agreed. Last night was Muse doing what they do best - guitar, drums, piano, Matt's voice.

Assassin->Deadstar->Muscle Museum opener was thrilling. And no shit stuff to follow.

I've only ever heard Showbiz live twice before, and Glorious once, and such a long time ago.

In 60 + Muse gigs in 14 years (stopped counting at 60), this gig had the excitement of seeing them for the first time.

Not sure if I'll go to Reading now though. Can only be a let down after that.

  8. I'm wondering if that's just something they automatically put for paperless tickets but it's not actually mandatory for this gig. When I emailed them, all they mentioned was card + ID. That was all they checked at Mancs Academy as well. Wouldn't hurt to take your confirmation emails just in case though, I am.

Yes probs. I've been to several of these Ticketmaster paperless gigs now, for other bands as well as Muse, and all they've done each time is swipe the credit card. But I'm still taking my email confirmation as instructed, you never know when you might get a jobsworth on the door.

  9. OK, it seems the ID & the card used to purchase is all they want, I can't see in the email confirmation that they want the email in there, so its safe to say just the 2 mentioned above.

I'll assume there is no support & probably just a DJ etc I'll assume they'll come on stage about 8.50pm

This is on my confirmation e-mail - it's below the ticket details -

"To ensure you understand the requirements of paperless ticketing please read these details carefully and follow the instructions below:

On the night of the event you will need to bring along a printed copy of your confirmation email.

Your ticket into the event is your card so please remember to bring the SAME credit/debit card you used at the time of purchase and some photo ID (such as a driving licence or passport). The name on the ID must match the name on the card in order to verify your purchase.

Your credit/debit card will be swiped as you enter the venue and your details will be confirmed as you make your way in."

  10. Tour kinda excites me as this is the first one I've seen that isn't in support of product. It's been two years since Drones so setlist potential is wide open. I honestly don't know what to expect and plan on keeping it that way; come May I will go into shutdown mode and hope to block any and all news of setlists, stage set-ups, potential new songs and just sit back and enjoy what they bring to the table without any preconceived knowledge or expectations.

    Good on yer. :)

  11. Because Brixton's not actually that great a venue.

Noooo! I love Brixton! Guess you're tall right? Brixton's one of the few venues with a raked floor which is perfect for the vertically challenged amongst us, and the Art Deco interior is stunning. The atmosphere has always been brilliant when I've been there. Enough people to create some serious noise and energy but smallish enough to feel small.

    I'm gagging for a Shepherd's Bush gig.

The stage is particularly low at SBE so unless you're on the barrier or at least 6' tall you'll see fuck all.
