Strongly Agree. I would say the same goes for ST, with Algorithm through to BITM being top quality Muse. Not that the second half doesn't have good tunes, but that run is so good. As for Drones, saddens me that Dead Inside, Reapers and Handler will most likely fade away in the next tours. Great songs.

I actually rather enjoy the chorus, but there's something about the instrumentation of the verses that feels a bit bland to me. Also think it would've been cool to hear some form of duet instead of only going for the sparse vocal hook. A simple but heartfelt song. The chorus feels touching, to me.

I feel very similarly about these two songs. I guess algorithm, TDS and The Void would be my more obvious top picks, but I find myself coming to these so often. Its so fresh and daring. Also catchy. Even the propaganda hook somehow makes perfect sense. Break it to me... I don't even know how you come up with something like that, and its precisely that lightning in a bottle thing that you talk about that draws me so intensely to it. I think my issue with some of TR and T2L (drones flaws were different) was not the shift in direction itself, but that those experiments sounded, at times, like caricatures of a genre or artist. But in these songs (and the greater part of ST), I feel like I hear the band flesh things out in a more personal way. The way songwriting, production and general sense of direction come together is their own. And that's what I love about the record, even if it has its weak points.

Please do. When they first started coming out i thought they were pretty forgetable... But they clearly tie into each other and I wouldn't mind taking a deeper look.

Somehow this album feels very inspiring to me. The overall tone, the ups and downs, the ambitious use of all kinds of sounds and textures, the alternate versions. A piece of work/art that makes me aspire to better things. Its dark and uplifting at the same time. I wasn't expecting that at all from this one. Somehow it all comes together.

The acoustic version is a great take indeed, but the album version takes the cake for me. The strings and pulsating synth towards the end are pure magic.

Im on board. This would be good. Not overly complicated, and it would get the job done. Also think it'd be nicer to have it on an independent portal, if we use IG or Twitter it loses the "from the board" aspect of it.

True, the board and reddit are actually very positive. Im refering more to personal experience with groups of people who have been following the band since Absolution/Black Holes.

I find it interesting that the record is dividing some of the more hardcore fanbase. With T2L and drones, sure there were differences in how people felt about certain songs (such as revolt and similar dividing tunes) but overall I feel like the community harbored a general line of thinkng about those albums. The general consensus being "T2L has fun bits but overall its a mess" and "Drones has good highs but falls flat in too many places". With ST theres a substantial portion of the board reacting very positively, but ive also observed hardcore fans in other groups that are very entrenched on the guitar sound of early Muse and other contemporaries of theirs, who cant digest any of this. It seems to me as its the first time in a while where theres a substantial divide amongst fans of the bands early work. I personally love it. After Dig Down and SH i was prepared to not be a fan. How wrong I was... In the context of the album, even SH works. The hell?

Parts of the melody on the chorus are super similar to Kiss though. They do the exact same bend, seems rather intentional.

Was surprised no one had mentioned this yet. That track gave me serious Octavarium vibes from the first listen, particularly 'Never Enough' vibes. Full circle, indeed. I feel like this is particualrly noticeable in the last few bars of the chorus. Very ,very reminiscent of Octavarium era DT.

When I first listened to this song, I instantly thought of this track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyYdEoFqKGo Anyhow, this is top tier Muse imo. The way they handled the pulse of the synths manually towards the end is so so satisfying. Almost makes me wish the whole album had these kinds of vibes, despite me enjoying some of the poppiest tracks.

I haven't listened enough to review it, but SH/Dig Down/TC had made me lower my expectations considerably. I wasn't expecting to like the rest of the record this much. I also love that somehow the sounds and textures feel coherent, overall. Even when the record gets cheeky (Propaganda, as an example), it still feels sonically in tune with the rest of the album. Wasn't expecting the guys to pull this one out... I was so ready to stop throwing money at muse tickets

So far i'm rather pleasantly surprised, considering my initial expectations. I'm very happy that the band seems to finally have commited to a group of textures and aesthetics. I'm surprised with how much I love Propaganda. There are tracks I'm not a fan of, but I appreciate the record as a whole. Probably the best since TR, perhaps TR included.
