  1. I have been spending most of my time pondering the mysteries of life, like "do I really need to go to lectures today?", "why do I bother going to all these lectures?", "do I really need to stay at university?" and "how am I ever going to hold down a steady job?".

I don't know what I'm doing with my life, in other words. How is your life going? I'll try and reply to you faster than I did this time.

  2. You are a wonderful person and I hope magical things are happening in your life.

    *scuttles away*

  3. You're in Welly? Exciting. Perhaps I will see you next weekend then.

  4. Saaaaaaaaam. Should I venture back into board-life?

  5. That's the one thing I disagree with the most about the compulsory membership. I understand the free association argument and all of that, but I don't think it's right to remove the compulsory membership. How many first year uni students are going to want to subscribe for it if they have to pay for it out of their own money? It's going to be tough for student unions to convince people to pay for the membership out of their own pocket. As long as I haven't run myself into debt by next year, I'll pay for the membership, based upon all the ranting I've done about this in Wellington.
  6. I understand that. I'm reasonably close to home here, others are closer, but some are much further away. I've only been home during the actual semester break, but it's good to have the option if I need to, without paying up to $100 for a flight home. It's one of the main reasons I didn't end up going to Otago. It really looks like they aren't even trying. What makes things worse is when National try and sugar coat everything, by saying things like "People will have the opportunity to decide whether a responsible approach to balancing the books and building growth is one they want to support".
  7. That was hilarious. I think Don Brash ended up looking like the bigger dick in this case. If Hone never said things like "Don't make this about me being Maori", he'd probably be a good MP.
  8. "What I don't like about it is the message it sends to young people is go out and borrow." So obviously we either make them borrow more, ask their parents to pay for it completely, or they just can't go to university. I love how this government blames all the problems their generation caused on our government.
  9. Obviously, put in the letter how you have uber internet skills and can make the best friends possible with a whole bunch of strangers. Also, that you have 100 cats.

Alternatively, just put in that you've worked there for long enough that you understand the way the system of your particular department works, and that you're responsible and stuff.

Basically lie/truth about how you're the best. And stuff.

  10. Sorry I didn't reply to your text the other day. Definitely catch up tomorrow. Just text me when/where you are around.

  11. I don't know much about tax refunds other than the obvious "... free money!!!"

  12. I wouldn't mind hanging out with you, of course. Just keep my updated if your plans eventuate.

  13. Wellington is pretty exciting. There's a few media dickheads hanging around our hall since this Darren Hughes thing has come about. I saw Heather Roy speak in the political science class the other day, it was a bit of a laugh.
  14. *buys ACME rocket*

  15. When are you coming to Wellington again?

  16. I can only use Firefox. All other programs that try to access the internet (outlook express, last.fm, etc) don't work because of the password system set up. But I'm trying to get that sorted. Really good to hear. Officially the worst natural disaster in New Zealand now (or so say the news)
  17. Hey guys. I'm moved in now, Wellington is amazing. Finally got my internet sorted after four days. The whole Christchurch situation is horrible. The few people I know are all fine, but so many people in my hall were affected by this. We had over 200 people sitting in a room watching the tv in silence for 3 or 4 hours.
