    :shifty:

I don't think anything will change.

We've been ranting about this for a year now...still no light at the end of the tunnel. I don't think they care.

It's been a year, but it's been all the same tour, so the same mindset, same rut.

If things are going to change, it'll likely be after a break, when there is a chance to "reset" priorities/thinking/etc and recharge the batteries a little.

So, the fact that it hasn't changed yet doesn't mean it can't change in the future.

Unfortunately, I know for sure we are right about that. :/

And I can't see a way out of it.. from own experience, these things usually just get worse.

It's a hard thing to overcome, but it's possible (I also speak from experience) It's hard, though, and while it can take only one or two events over a very brief period of time to get you to that place, it can take years to come back from it...

  2. Last fall during the european tour, twitter added the ability to make lists, so fuesch started making the sexyplane list so that we could more easily follow the gigs. Before, we would follow just by doing a random searches and people would post what they found.

There's also the in-flight game of Tweet Bingo, which originally came from the U2 tour last fall, when we noticed that there were a lot of common reactions. The stereotypical reactions continued through the other tours, and I think it was in the US tour in the spring that fuesch made the first official bingo card ;)

  3. One common occurance would be that someone would come in and ask about the setlist before the show even started (timezones are haaaard), so people would say random things. Uno, Pink Ego Box, Jimmy Kane, Creep.... then one time I was typing out the words to jimmy kane and I typed in "sexy plaaaaane", so that would be coming up when people asked what was played.

One night, can't remember anymore how it got started, we ended up making jokes about being on a plane, I made the original stewardom photoshop, and it turned into a silly joke wherein we were on a "sexy plane", piloted by jimmy kane, flying over the gig. It's pretty much continued and expanded somewhat since then. It's mainly just a silly jokey thing to keep us occupied when waiting for the gigs to finish, so it really has no deep meaning ;) (takeoff when the show starts, turbulence when there is setlist beef, low visibility/fog when there are no updates, barf bags coming out for feeling good)

  4. I typed this up quickly to refer people to when they ask what the sexy plane is

    The Sexy Plane

Once upon a time on the muse board, there was a tour.. :p

Back during the sumer of '08, the band first made the musewire twitter (after doing a poll and asking us which form of social media we preferred - twitter was toward the bottom of the list, so, naturally, the band chose that ;)) which meant that a lot of fans, especially those from the board, suddenly had twitter. Shortly thereafter the band toured Mexico and South America and people were using twitter to send setlist updates. At one of the first shows, if not the first, they randomly whipped out Dead Star and Space Dementia, which of course got a lot of attention around here.

With the surprises in the setlists and the addition of twitter giving us live updates, more and more people started hanging around while the gigs were ongoing to see what updates we could get and what was going on in nearly real time.

  5. This forum sometimes makes me sad to be a Muse fan in two ways. There's the negativity which is so well justified that I just can't help but believe most of it. Then there's people who basically say "You don't like 10 Muse songs? WHY DID YOU JOIN THIS FORUM?!?!" that just completely irritate me.

There's almost no happy medium on this forum.

Also, honestly, WTF is a true fan. I want this term to die.

<---- you're lookin' at her! :yesey:

  6. yeah... the controversial thing was sarcastic, I just thought it would ridiculed. Its mostly what makes me uncomfortable about some members on this site. Does that mean that If I had named the thread differently it wouldn't be locked...?

If it's locked it'll because they'll say the conversation could be posted elsewhere and the mods like to keep things neat around here...

The elitism can be annoying. No one really gets flak though for liking NSC or Feeling Good....or at least none that I know of.

OMG, you like those songs?! You suck, delete your account and leave this board. You're not a true muse fan :phu:

  7. eh, there's a lot of crap posted on this board from all angles... I generally just wade through it all and ignore the bits I don't like...

For example, I like Invincible, always have, and I don't care that so many people hate it... it's ok, they're allowed to be wrong ;)

To be fair, this isn't really so much a "muse opinion" as it is a "muse.mu opinion" ;)

  8. I'm so glad this thread is here - I will be going to not only my first Muse concert, but my first concert ever. I will be in the seats for one concert and in GA for the second so I'll get to experience both worlds (unless I manage to swap my seated ticket for a GA ticket).

OK, so I've read through this whole thread and I'm pretty sure these questions haven't been asked.

I plan to get to the venue very early so I can get a spot at the barrier, and I was wondering when do they generally open the gate? About an hour before the show starts? How long does the band usually play? I've heard about 2 - 2 1/2 hours is average. Also, are there breaks throughout the show, like after the opening band? I really want to be in the pit, but I'm starting to think I might not have the stamina for it, especially if it last longer than a few hours.

I am completely ignorant about rock concerts so any info would be helpful. I want to be as prepared as possible.

    Thanks!

    What L said :D

And as a note... it may differ from gig to gig - I have tickets to 3 US shows, my VA gig ticket says on there that it starts at 8PM and doors open at 6:30. The NY one also says it starts at 8PM and the MD one says it starts at 7:30 but neither of those say anything about when gates open.

So, judging by the VA ticket I'd say expect the doors to open 1.5hrs before the gig start time, SSPU to be on stage shortly after the start time for a half hour, then maybe 20mins or so as they set up for Muse, then Muse for about 1hr45min :) (Using the VA show times, that would be gates opening at 6:30PM, SSPU on stage around 8PM, Muse on stage around 9PM, everything over by 11PM)

  9. Seeing the recent turn in conversation I just thought i'd mention in here that i opened a final present this evening and - it was the Muser Cam! I had mentioned that I wanted a new camera to my parents, but knew it was out of everyones price range, so I said that if someone either gave me some money to offset the price or bought me a different, nice but cheaper camera (the olympus waterproof one) I'd be perfectly happy (i love my current camera, but it's kind of big, I wanted something smaller I could have with me at all times)

So I was a bit :stunned: to have gotten it! I've been playing with it all evening :shifty: not particularly impressed with it's nighttime abilities (my other camera is pretty good at picking things up and brightening in low light) but the indoor lighting type pics I've gotten so far are great and I know from what I've seen from all of the people on here that gig pics should be great so... I've got about 2 more months to practice!

yeah, sorry to get into off-topic camera reviews :$

  10. That's how you learn :chuckle:

My Nishe video is so full of lulz because of the background talking: between B shouting "thank you", Olly going "megaphone, oh no megaphone!!" and Kieran then begging matt not to sing feeling good  No way I am editing that!!

:chuckle: Oh, I already knew... that's why I gave my mom the other camera and asked her to video for me. I was singing, but the camera was just far away enough that you couldn't hear me! Fortunately it was only a tiny bit from one of my vids that I had to cut and the rest was just the end riff, spinny circles and me hypnotically following Matt exit the stage after having forgotten that I had wanted to stay on the mic so I could get Dom's goodbye :$

And yes, your Nishe vid is :awesome:

  11. How big are the pits for the U.S Tour. I got tickets for the pit for New York, and am a bit worried. I;m not a great mover in the gigs but like standing. Is the mixing desk at the back of the pit I can lean on and let people go mental infront of me?

Unlike a lot (most? all?) the other venues, MSG has part of the floor for standing and part for seats, so I'm not sure where exactly they'll put the soundboard, it may be amidst the seats... but from what people have said from other gigs there it seems like you shouldn't have any trouble finding a calm spot at the back of the standing area :)

  12. Varies with the venue; in Vegas it was cool, they set up the Merch table outside the gig. Most places it's inside, so if you're on the barrier you have to wait until after. Usually lots of waiting, and picked over merch -- they run out of sizes and seems like it's the girl-cut tees that run out first. Haven't seen a program yet, but might have them for the big tour; they did in Europe, were about $20.

Something outside would be nice, especially in NY since I'll have other people hanging around who aren't going to the gig, I could get merch and give it to them or I could have them buy it for me! But I doubt I'll be that lucky :$

    PoTC?

    Pirates of the Carribean :$

At the NJ U2 gig they only had 2 tees, one bag; very limited selection. It was ALL about U2...

I thought there was a good amount of muse merch at the VA gig, considering... maybe they just didn't have all the stuff in yet for the NY gigs?

  13. heh i was totally just going to ask the same question :p

    great minds ;)

Any idea how long it'll be before I get my tickets from Concert Maps? I'm probably gonna try and ask my friend from work to get me a seat with him.

I've been wondering the same thing about concertmaps. I hope I get my ticket soon, I'd like to have it in my possession :$

Ticketmaster emailed me today telling me my ticket had been printed and will be mailed soon and I got that one a day after the concertmaps presale :erm:

  14. depends on the gig, and depends on the item. for the Vegas gig, they had nearly all the shirts available, but they sold out on the tote bags.

    There's always merch left, jes!

    Thanks for the input, guys!

I remember hearing people complaining at the U2 gig in NY that they had a hard time getting merch, so I was nervous at my gig and got my stuff beforehand but turns out I don't think it would have been a problem after. Hopefully I'll be able to get what I want at the first gig and won't have to worry!
