    Some Sculptures

    They're so awesome!
  3. My bf runs a cycling site and takes photos for it on our dslr. For the site to load quickly the images have to be around 300kb, so when we edit them we change the file size in photoshop by making it minimum quality. Of course, this means the photos have lines where there is a change in colour (ie most noticeable in the sky when there is a soft gradient) Is there a way to compress the file size to something that low without making them look so yuck?
  4. Blah I suck at this 365 day thing and I've only been doing it 10 days! One day, bf deleted the picture I did and I keep having to make up for lost days. Does that make them not count?
  5. Thanks guys, I will download Only got one ok firework photo because drunk me forgot our tripod. Sad panda Ah it's so expensive, Maybe in a few months
  6. I don't purely because I can never come up with names that don't sound wanky (I'm not the most... creative person ) I don't use anything atm, just downloaded the free version of cs2 for my new photos Is lightroom easier? I'm fairly familiar with the ropes of photoshop, but whatever is easy will do me edit: omfg I need to top using the smiley!
  7. I will get better, but here are some with the new lens. Any feedback is appreciated DSC_5672 by franzsairdinand, on Flickr DSC_5669 by franzsairdinand, on Flickr
  8. I think I will start a 365 day project. I really need to improve my skills...
  9. Bought the bf and myself the 50mm f1.8 for Xmas. Very excited to have a play with it!!
  10. Thought he was a kingfisher but I think it's too small! Nice pics
  11. I already have a Nikon though! I can use the lenses I have at home Cheers Tom!! will have a looksy! Wowee gonna have to save some cash for that!
  12. Camera is AMAZING. I love it!!!! Such a good investment. Shots to come when I get the camera back! The time lapse setting is awesome too and really good for the website. I'm in love! Next investments! 50mm f1.8 (don't think I can justify the extra $400 for a f/1.4) then a macro lens. any recommendations for a macro?
  13. After further research we ended up getting the Nikon d600 kit. It makes sense because we have some Nikon lenses (although not fx lenses) Now to save up for a 50mm lens! Yay! Very pleased with it. Can't waaaait to play with it once it's all charged and ready to go! Nice photos btw misutzu!! I liked your 'selfie' one
  14. Okay since reading this we're going to go for the 6D. I'm getting a couple of grand back on my tax return, so it won't be too bad on the pocket! Thanks everyone!!
  15. Hmmmm, good point. I wasn't really sure of the diff full frame makes, but I've read a few articles and it does seem like it would make a difference. I might tell the bf to get the 6D and I'll pay for the difference, as I would like to get into photography at some point. Unfortunately the 5D is really out of our price range. I may even ask bf to wait until I have a job and then we can go halvies on the 5d. Hmm..... Thank you for giving me so much to consider! I feel much more enlightened! looks like it's the 50! monies Will seriously consider it though! thanks! Will look into all the options you guys have given me!
  16. Thanks so much Bob! Really appreciate it. will report back on what they decide (whether the camera guy manages to sell us other shit) out photog friend suggested 25-105mm I'm kinda confused. When it has a range that large, will it still be able to do wide angle shots? Cause I've done a bit of reading and now understand what lens is what, but what happens when it has a range like that? Also, not looking for it now, but what would you guys recommend as a good general everyday lens for beginners? We want to start learning how to take lovely photos
  17. Hay guyz, Tomorrow the bf is going to buy a Canon 7D and he's been wondering what lens to best accompany it. He takes a lot of action cycling shots and landscapes for his website. What do you guys think would be appropriate for that type of shooting? ps, neither of us know a huge deal about photography, it's an investment for their website. At the moment they use a point and shoot Sony and they find the photos can be washed out and grainy An example of the photos they take: http://www.cycleatlas.com/1/post/2013/07/zumsteins-halls-gap-australia-73km-red.html
  18. No probs! Actually can't stop looking at it. It is such a wonderful shot.
