  1. Got my tickets through the post between Christmas and New Year. Does anyone have any idea of timings? We've got seated tickets, but only planning on turning up last minute, not bothered at all about the support act. Are Muse expected around 9pm?
  2. Got 2 seated tickets for this. It'll be my 4th Muse gig, and my wife's first! She's not really a fan, but she has to put up with so much Muse, she practically knows all the songs anyway! Planning on staying in Manchester for 2 nights and making a (romantic) weekend of it. Just need to sort out a nice hotel now, maybe a couple of nice restaurants, and set aside some time for shopping and sightseeing!
  3. I won't be at my computer until around 9.10 Wednesday morning. What do you think my chances are of getting tickets for the Manchester gig? From your experiences, how long does it take the presale tickets to sell out? Is it worth me changing my plans around to make sure I'm ready for action at 9? Thanks.
  4. Every time I try humming the Defector guitar solo, it comes out as Muscle Museum.
  5. So difficult. In no particular order, apart from No.1... 1. Knights of Cydonia New Born Plug in Baby Citizen Erased Time is Running Out Stockholm Syndrome Hysteria Map of the Problematique Unnatural Selection Reapers My God, can't believe some of the songs not on this list - Dead Star, Megalomania, Muscle Museum, Take a Bow, Supermassive Black Hole, City of Delusion, MK Ultra, Supremacy especially unlucky to miss out this time. Maybe next week!
  6. But as someone else said, it's not as if Queen invented those kinds of vocals and have exclusivity with regards to their use. But if you don't like them fair enough. I must admit, the first time I heard them, I did think "Oh no, here we go again", but now they're one of the highlights of the song for me.
  7. After reading lots of comments on lots of different threads (but mostly this one and the Your Reviews thread), I've come to a conclusion: Nobody on this messageboard loves this album more than me. FACT. I'm very happy, whilst everybody else is either angry, disappointed or merely content. If anyone out there is as happy as me, please let me know!
  8. Dead Inside: 8/10 Half Madness, half Undisclosed Desires, but surpasses both those songs in my opinion. Lyrics are brilliant, and Matt's vocal performance is out of this world. This song works on so many levels for me. Will probably be a bit of a 'yawn-fest' live though. Psycho: 8/10 Yes, it's a bit too long, and yes, it's very repetitive, but that riff is a killer. For that reason alone, I doubt I'll ever get tired of this song. Awesome live. Mercy: 8/10 Starlight-like verses, and a Follow Me-esque chorus. Just enough rock to please someone like me, but also very accessible to the masses. Good singalong. Reapers: 10/10 If you'd have told me when I first heard the live recordings that this would be my favourite song on the album, I'd have been disappointed. Not any more. Loved it the moment I heard the studio version. Epic. Lyrics are fabulous, and that solo is so good. The Handler: 8/10 Sounds like some of the early B-sides. Good song with good lyrics, but lacks an X-factor that would propel it to a 9 or 10. Still growing on me though, as I don't think it's instantly memorable, so might still make it to a 9. Defector: 8/10 When I saw the 'Making of' leak, this sounded very run-of-the-mill and boring. Not sure what's changed my mind. Lyrics are a bit dodgy, but I can't help but like the song. Queen-esque vocals in the chorus get me every time, and the solo is very catchy. Revolt: 7/10 Probably the weakest song on the album, but not that bad. 'How did we get in so much trouble' must be the most cringeworthy opening line ever in a 'rock' song, but I love the chorus - the change in tempo really works for me. The happy, poppy song that we've come to expect from every Muse album recently, but it's much better than Big Freeze, Guiding Light etc. Can't get it out of my head. Aftermath: 8/10 Beautiful. Sounds like The Edge is playing the guitar, and it sounds very similar to The Troubles by U2. Proper ballad this, something we haven't heard from Muse before. Not sure about Matt's delivery though, I think the vocals could be delivered in a smoother fashion, to match the dynamic of the song. The Globalist: 8/10 Citizen Erased 2 it is not. Part 1 is Exogenesis, and Part 3 Explorers. The riff in the middle is killer, but a bit repetitive. It basically does the same thing for two and a half minutes, only made more interesting by the introduction of the drums. Love Part 1 - just about perfect, but Part 3 is a bit too long, almost sounds like a song in its own right. Could have been a 10, with just a bit more tinkering. Drones: 5/10 Not my thing at all this. Had to look up the lyrics, as I couldn't make out any of them (except 'killed by drones' at the end). Credit to them though for giving it a go, and it does sound quite good, but I doubt it'll make it onto my ipod. Fabulous album. Only time will tell where it sits compared to previous albums, but it's already far surpassed Showbiz and The 2nd Law in my opinion. Might also overtake The Resistance. What strikes me at this stage is there's no filler. Apart from Drones, I can see myself still listening to all the songs in a year's time. Haven't been able to say that about a Muse album since Black Holes.
  9. Yeah, disappointed in the DVD. Having watched The Globalist/Defector leak a few months back, I certainly wasn't expecting that that would be the only Making of... on there. Enjoyed watching the Making of... the previous albums. No idea why we haven't had the same this time. And I was really looking forward to seeing it too!
  10. I'm very happy with this album! Of the 10 songs, I really love 9 of them - the only one that won't be making it onto my ipod is 'Drones'. There's not much between the other 9 for me at the moment. Hard to tell at the moment which are my favourites, as I've listened to Dead Inside, Psycho etc a lot more than the unreleased songs. Another thing to note is that there's not much let-up towards the end of the album. Usually (especially on OoS, Abso, The 2nd Law), the best songs all seem to be crammed into the first half of the album but that doesn't seem to be the case this time. Ok, the likes of Revolt, Defector etc might not quite be up to the standard of Reapers and The Handler, but there's not much in it. I certainly won't be skipping back to the start like I did most of the time with T2L. Brilliant album!
  11. Love the start of this song. Although the riff in the middle section is good, I feel it gets a bit repetitive after a bit - could have done with more variation or even some vocals in this bit. Then I feel perhaps the piano bit at the end is a bit long - seems to go on forever. Matt probably could have been a bit more concise with his lyrics. Don't get me wrong, I love the song though!
  12. This song has U2 written all over it. Sounds like The Edge on guitar, never heard that kind of thing from Matt before. And the beginning sounds very similar to The Troubles - no bad thing, as I love that song.
  13. Well, I've gone for Muse Wiki as probably the authority on all things Muse, but there it just says 'from your inciting'. But I'm sure there's another word in the middle there somewhere, unless Matt's gone for a stutter effect e.g. 'inciti-inciting'.
  14. How have some people got the album already? Different countries yeah? I live in the UK, got an e-mail from Warner last night, some kind of shipping confirmation, so I take it it's on its way. Still not really expecting it till Monday though.
  15. What does Matt say before 'inciting'? At the moment, I'm singing 'endless inciting', but I don't think that's quite it.

    Revolt

Can't get this song out of my head! Ok, so it's not rock, it's not heavy, but every album needs a bit of light and shade, otherwise it'd get boring. It's so catchy though! Seen some comparisons with filler album tracks from the most recent albums, but at the moment I feel it's much much better than the likes of Guiding Light, IBTY, NSC, Big Freeze etc. Don't think I'll be skipping it too often - in fact, I'll probably be looking forward to it in order to do a silly little dance to it!
  17. Just listened to this song for the first time, and now I can't get Explorers out of my head for some reason.
  18. Does something odd happen when he sings 'Oppressor'? I'm having trouble hearing it right.
  19. Finally bowed to the inevitable yesterday afternoon and pre-ordered Drones in order to get the 3 digital tracks, so heard them for the first time on a proper sound system, on quite a high volume! Absolutely hooked - love them! Really hyped for the album now! My problem with The 2nd Law was that my favourite tracks on the album (apart from maybe Animals) were the first 3. With Drones, I love the first 3 tracks, and still have Reapers, The Handler and The Globalist to come, which I'm convinced will be right up there with Dead Inside, Psycho and Mercy. I'm 100% positive that I'm going to enjoy Drones more than T2L and Showbiz. I'm quite a fan of The Resistance too if I'm honest, so I'd be happy with anything up to about that level. I still think BHaR is the best album I own, so I don't expect Drones to surpass that level of perfection. But I'm quite optimistic.
  20. Quite a bit of negativity regarding the album at the moment. For what it's worth, I like Dead Inside, Psycho and Mercy. I think I'm going to like Reapers and The Globalist too. The Handler sounds awesome - really looking forward to hearing this. Not sure about Defector from what I've heard, and I'm worried that I'm going to absolutely hate Drones. Nothing really to say about the other songs, as I don't yet know enough about them. So all in all, things looking pretty good from where I'm standing. Also, I couldn't care less if he says 'babe', 'baby' or not in Reapers - doesn't bother me at all.
  21. I'd be amazed if The Globalist is more than 9-10 minutes long. If it is, and it's as good as I'm hoping it'll be, I'll forgive the band for only having 10 actual 'songs' on the album, as this will probably be worth 3.
