  1. We came in at about 7.00 and they weren't even searching bags thoroughly then. I had a big-ish bag with a couple of things I knew weren't allowed (can of energy drink, can of hairspray), and the dude literally took one brief look inside and sent me on my way. Then I got to the guy with the standing wristbands, held out my ticket, he didn't even look at it, and just said "that says standing, right?" - of course I said "yes"! It actually WAS a standing ticket but I reckon I could have blagged a wristband out of him anyway. I also can't remember anyone checking my wristband during the multiple times I went up/down from pitch level to toilets and drinks. Weird that security were so lax on entry yet so intense with crowd control. We left half way through Knights and breezed straight through the groups of security with stop/go signs but it was SO tightly organised that it was almost scary. Either way, that 'moving barricade' thing they did with letting people onto the pitch was just overkill. It's obvious what they were trying to achieve, and the health & safety perspective is understandable - after all, when in the history of ever has anyone at a gig ever slowed down when being told not to run? - but the amount of manpower that went into it is ridiculous. It also raises questions over whether it would've been safe if people had started pushing... presumably they would have just broken the chain and let people through, but you don't know. It also pained me to see people aiming for the middle, thinking they were getting the best spot, when the entrances to the golden circle were at the sides. I've never seen anything like that before anyway... will be interesting to see if they do it again in Bristol on Wednesday, or if it was just a London Stadium thing.
  2. So it looks like I'll definitely be doing this one as well on Wednesday. Couldn't sell my ticket, then got offered a lift there and back, then went to the London gig yesterday and... yeah. MORE PLEASE. I've never actually been to Bristol, so it'll be nice to see somewhere new :)
  3. 99.9% of the time, comp tickets at the RAH are in the stalls blocks closest to the stage, and then there are people in the boxes who've got tickets through corporate connections. Standing tickets are a rarity if you're trying to blag in for free though, so standing at this gig should be pretty solid Found this one out the hard way when I went to see Ghost in September - I've got a 'Friend of the Royal Albert Hall' membership and got brilliant seats in the stalls block closest to the stage... unfortunately I was surrounded by Industry Types (including a few lovely people who I know, to be fair) and a lot of empty seats, so the mood was considerably more subdued there than it was elsewhere in the venue. They weren't even offering standing tickets to RAH Friends for this gig though, so it's pretty much guaranteed that they've all gone to fans. Which means standing should be off the chain
  4. Bloody hell, I feel really lucky that we got tickets in the presale. I tried to grab some standing tickets instead this morning (we've got choir seats) and everything sold out before I could even get anything in my basket This is why I'm kinda glad they're playing stadiums next year... might actually stand a chance of getting a standing ticket
  5. In all my years of going to gigs I've seen unreserved seating frequently!! I've been seated at similar venues in London and it's been unreserved every time. If it was reserved, we would have likely been given the opportunity to pick our seats, I think.
  6. I'm pretty certain it's unreserved seating. We got 'Level 2, GA, 167-168' - GA is the big clue, the seat numbers are the same as ones other people have got, and there's no row. Soooo I guess it's unreserved If you go back on Ticketmaster and look at the seating plans, click the dropdown and you'll see there's a seating plan for unreserved!
  7. Just watched the live version. Matt's vocals are live, definitely. Lot of effects on them, but they're live. The backing vocals... not so sure, but eh. It's a good go at it. Though, to be honest, as a song with a lot of electronic elements, I'm not surprised that it doesn't sound much different live from the recording - it's a pretty simple song to perform. I think at a gig, through a proper, good PA, it'd sound cracking. Plenty of womp. I'm still keen to hear it live. As for the song itself - I literally just listened to it about 20 times on repeat because it got itself stuck in my head today and I couldn't think of anything else to listen to. I still like it. It's so, so, so standard Muse-by-numbers, but I'd happily take it as a Madness replacement on the setlist. No issues here. ....then again, I didn't hate the new Linkin Park album, so I guess my music taste is obsolete
  8. Few more listens from me: - The message/vibe still stands. It makes me feel positive. Not got a problem with that. - The sound still makes me feel like something's trying to mate with my earholes. It really helps to listen to it through a good pair of headphones rather than my computer speakers. I love the womp. - The song itself won't become a favourite. I genuinely like it, but it's very much a pastiche of too many things, and it's still standard radio-friendly Muse, so it goes around the middle of the field for me. - I'd like to hear it live. Still not hating! It's such a minimum effort track, but it appeals to me. They could've cracked out something super crazy for a 'comeback' song, but I'm not surprised that they didn't. It's safe, and it's alright. 6/10, I'd say.
  9. Truth. I genuinely like it though. It's catchy (probably because of aforementioned George Michael comparisons). It's uplifting (lol). And it sounds fucking LOVELY through a good pair of headphones. It really is stock-standard 2017 mainstream-appeal Muse. Goes straight in the vein of Madness and Undisclosed Desires. A little beige, but a decent enough song, and very standard for their current sound and the kind of singles they're putting out these days. In my opinion, definitely not the worst thing they've ever done. Not by a long shot. Wouldn't mind hearing it live, myself. I'll take it
  10. Ain't gonna happen, unfortunately. On the upside, I went to Germany last week, with aforementioned new compact. I had the chance for a photo pass, but I turned it down because one of the bands was offering a photo release contract which gave you the rights to the photo, but gave them the rights to use it wherever and whenever they wanted without payment or credit. The other band wanted full copyright and also wanted all photos approved by the band before publication. Fuck that. So, I took my new G7x. And you know what? From the crowd, I got the BEST pictures. These are all .jpeg files, not the RAW files which I also have, edited on Photoshop Touch on my phone, on the road. I've not yet got myself to Lightroom to pull the photos in there and edit them properly. (apologies for the size - I have no way of changing that right now) Fuck that photo pass. My life and my universe for my compact camera and my energy to keep myself going in the crowd <3
  11. Yeah, the lighting was just phenomenal. Couldn't have asked for better. I find it annoying that I've had so many people look at those photos and go "OH MY GOD THEY'RE AMAZING YOU'RE SO TALENTED" when it was one of the easiest gigs I've shot in years A shit band no-one's heard of in a tiny venue with pure red lighting... now that takes talent to get good photos, haha. Still using the 60D, yeah. I ought to upgrade because it's starting to really hold me back, but I just don't have the disposable funds at the moment. I need a rich benefactor or something In the meantime, though, I just won a compact, so I guess that makes up for something. Canon G7X. I haven't had a compact with zoom for two years now, so I am PSYCHED

  14. I've been in a queue since 7.50. Still waiting.... (to be told it's sold out, probably) They've announced a 2nd show on the 13th, so I have little hope for this one.

  16. Probably because they realise that people are bloody pissed off at the 73-quid price tag and think that by advertising them at £65, they might get a few more sales?
  17. Here's a suggestion, lads: play a fucking stadium, where you can actually cram everyone in who wants tickets. Or maybe a really, really large field.
  18. Must admit the venue's piqued my interest for this gig. It's pretty inside There's three categories of tickets, so I assume there will be seats. Category 1 should fall in with the most expensive tickets for the other gigs, which have been front-row seating. Category 3 should be seats further back. And standing is obviously standing. That's my take on it anyway. No VIP, though? Or are those tickets being sold through a different site? Interesting.
  19. I live just outside London, but hilariously, it would be cheaper for me to get a ticket and return flights to Lisbon, than to get the train up to London and a ticket for the O2 I'm still all systems go for Paris though. Perfect excuse for a holiday
  20. This. I know that people want to see a spectacle, but gig ticket prices have been rising steadily for years, and they are rapidly getting to the point where they are NOT affordable. Even 50 quid on short notice is stretching it for a lot of people on an average wage. 70 quid is just being goddamn rude. As I said earlier, there are so many people I know who have been priced out of seeing Muse because of the cost of the tickets on this tour. Even if it is the production costs that have raised prices on this tour, I'm absolutely certain that if they toned down the promise of a spectacle and accordingly decreased ticket prices, the band would sell just as many tickets - if not more!
