  1. The problem with paperless ticketing is that if you can't go, for whatever reason, you eat the cost of the tickets. There needs to be a refund policy if paperless tickets are used, otherwise I'd ahve to say its a bit of a shit system.
  2. Um, Ticketmaster at this point IS a scalper/broker. Ticketmaster has two faces. The one we see when we log into ticketmaster.com and the one we see when we're redirected to ticketsnow.com. What I wrote was apt and appropriate for the situation. I stand by it.
  3. Center stage and to the left is ridiculous. If you're in the center and you expect to not be moved by a sea of people, forget about it, lol. If you're in the center and worried you won't have a good view of Matt, forget about that too, because most likely the crowd will pick you up a few inches off the ground the tide will push you to just a few feet away from him. Been there, done that, lol. Its not so bad, you just have to get over the claustraphobia/loss of control. Its a mental trick. If you can lose yourself for a bit, you'll be fine.
  4. Yup! I live in the desert now! I am really excited for this upcoming tour. So far I've got a ticket to see them in Utah. I am hoping that I can making it to the SF gig as well. What shows are you planning on?

  5. Heh. Well, I made a petition. Hopefully its not all for Naught. http://www.petitiononline.com/musetix/petition.html I stated that it was in regard for US ticket sales, as I feel US muse fans can't speak for how business is done abroad as we have no idea what the laws and consumer base are like, but certainly the issue affects more people than those in the US.
  6. Yeah, I think paperless tickets are a start in the right direction, but still not the answer. Its too much of an inconvenience for the consumer and limits upward mobility in the sense you can't sell your tickets if you need to.
  7. The only problem with paperless tickets is that if you need/want to resell your ticket becaus eyou can't go (and when I say resell I mean face value) you can't, can you?
  8. Good ones. He's heard KOC and Hysteria. I'll try Space Dementia though. And now that I think about it...Screenager is a good one too. Dude, he was so unfamiliar with MUSE that I first showed him short clips on you tube and said, "That's my husband drumming" and he TOTALLY BELIEVED ME! ROTFLMAO!
  9. Just Glasto and Wembley. I have Hullabaloo, but I live in America, so they only way I can play Hullabaloo is if I can find a region free dvd player that supports PAL format. I let him borrow the DVDs though. Oh, he's even more upset cuz his WIFE has heard of MUSE and he hasn't! And she is not into the same kind of music as he is AT ALL, LOL! I just laughed, patted him on the shoulder and said, "Sorry, your wife is hipper than you are!" HAHAHHA!!! Apart from Stockholm Syndrome, and Assassin, what are some really good songs you guys can think of that really showcase Dom's drumming ability? Butterflies and Hurricanes come to mind...but what else? My friend/instructor is all impressed with Matt, but not so much with Dom, lol!
  10. Oh yah, my dear friend who I learn drums from is in his 40s or so. Been playing drums since he was 16. He's very good. And we have the same taste in music yet... He has NEVER heard of MUSE. He has heard of a bunch of great bands out and about today but NEVER MUSE. So I show him Wembley and Glastonbury and all that. And he likes it. Says its great, but then goes on to say "But I can't see how they would ever be big in the US. There's just no way. They're too different." So after I giggle a minute I say, "But they've played to sold out shows of 20k in the US. Like, The Forum and Madison Square Gardens." And then he just gets mad cuz he realizes he might be a little out of touch with the music scene these days. But, at least MUSE have a new fan. He's also convinced Matt is going to go bald by 40. LOL!
  11. Hewwo! I posted a while back asking advice on learning drums, etc. Just thought I'd post an update n'stuff. First of all, thanks to those who responded with their advice and opinions back when I asked. I've been having a blast learning how to play even though everything right now is pretty basic in the scheme of things. I practice a couple hours every night. I don't have my own kit, just a practice pad, a kick pedal I bought used (and a bass drum practice pad), but it helps. Been thinking about buying a used hi-hat stand etc so I can practice a bit more with that since I'm starting to getting a little more complicated with the hi hat. My friend/instructor DOES have a kit however, and I always try to play as much and as long as possible at his place so I can get a feel for the real thing. Its been a couple of months now, but I can keep time with my hi hat foot which is kewl. It seemed impossible two months ago, but with regular practice and getting down some basic beats I can manage it now. Read the stuff about the DW pedals--scary. My friend uses DW pedals. I hope I don't break one of his while practicing! Also read the bit about single stroke rolls. The friend I'm learning from knows some rudiments, so the single stroke and para diddle are two things he taught me at the beginning. I have my single stroke down pretty well now at probably 160 bpm. After that it gets ridiculous and sloppy. Anyway, I think I have enough basics down that I might be able to attempt playing something simple like TIRO from beginning to end. If I get it down well enough maybe I'll join the you tube muse cover crowd. BTW, Alyssa, your Muse covers are awesome! Its great to see another girl playing drums.
  12. Starting out I used heel down too cuz it seemed natural, but I found I didn't really get the impact or power I wanted, so I tried a bunch of different things, and heel up seems to work best right now...
  13. Alright, any advice for taming a stupid foot? Difficulties getting power with my bass drum foot. suggestions? i.e. heel down/achored? heel up? how do you guys use/place your foot on the bass drum pedal? how does dom do it? cheers! I've been trying a bunch of different methods, but the one I seem to favor involves sorta using my whole leg and I'm not really sure if that's very effective, or not, or if I am just going to end up building a bad habit.
  14. Â I don't really understand drum tablature at all right now, so that shouldn't be a problem. =D Â I can read music in a limited fashion but only for violin as that was the last instrument I studied @ length.
  15. Started learning drums recently. Was wondering if you guys had any advice for a muse fan starting out on drums for the first time. i.e. should I dare to try and learn how to play the drum bits for a muse song now, or no? Also, what kind of kit/bits/bobs should I start out with? I live in an apartment/flat so all I've got right now is a practice pad and some 5b drum sticks. I take lessons from a friend once or twice a week where I get to actually play with a REAL drum set. Just looking for input from fellow Dom Howard fans.
  16. Re: Industry vocals... Was reading some of the comments, and I just wanted to say that I didn't think the vocals were that bad at all. He just sings a different style compared to Matt (Bellamy) and when you're doing a cover...you don't necessarily *want* to sound like the original, so yeah...not bad really. I enjoyed the whole thing over all. Vocals and instrumental parts.
