cheddatom I love double bass pedals.... I have the cheaper Tama Set, and they are pretty sweet. Now I do dislike blast beats... definatly not my cup of tea, and something I really never attempt to do. But that's more to do with that type of music anway. I like double bass because it allows me to expand my drumming potential. Exactly the same reason I try to keep my left foot going on the hi-hat when I'm not double pedaling... something I get from watching Dom I spose. When I'm going flat out and grooving, all of my limbs wanna get in on the action I dunno where some people get the idea where double bass pedals are a crutch... ahh nice find Niles. any more info on the ride andhats? The hats sound like K mastersound.. but the Ks all sound very similar. For the ride, it sounds like a 22 K.

I read somewhere Dom uses K/K Customs for recording... I was listening to Space dementia and the closest sound I could make out was K Dark.. presumably 19 inch. Anyone agree? it sounds darker than the A custom... but considering the production stuff they do its probably silly btw, anyone else dislike Doms new small Crash? decays too quick, sounds weak.

relax dude, he means if you were to count while you were playing, this is how you would count it... 9/8 8/8 7/8 I assume Niles doesnt count while playing lateralus, like me... instead you just feel the beat. Niles already explained it pretty clearly. If you are switching between 9/8 8/8 7/8 for example, then it makes sense to have the time signature as 8/8 for convenience when counting (assuming you count at all)

Yeah true that.. but as a dummer I always want to get it 100% right, or as close as for a couple of reasons.. First is, if you play it right how good it sounds takes care of its self. I always think my interpretation probably won't sound as good as the original. And second if you play it right, someone in the crowd won't be thinking, OMFG 2nd floor tom noob, not 1st!
